  1. no doubt "BBC Newcastle understands" is Mick Lowes doing some digging, and tbh I believe him/them. That will be true, a transfer request would cost him money, agitating a move wont.

The truth is at 180 degrees to your post.
  3. I believe previous losses can be offset against profits so there's plenty time before tax becomes an issue as we have a rather long history of losses.
  4. His liquid wealth is something like (or was) £800Mill of which he has put in something like 25%. I agree not stumping up the extra million or so, here and there, seems daft, but I suppose from his point of view, where does it end. He doesn't want to use any more of his own money and he won't. If the club can afford the wages/fee's it'll pay them, if it can't, it won't, that is the end of the story. He will not be putting his hand in his pocket, hoping he will is just not worth the angst. The clubs size is such it "should" be fine within it's means, we just have to hope it is.
  5. Is the correct answer, it becomes all about the success and the ego once the money's at a level where it's somewhat irrelevant as a measure of said success. The ego is the problem because that drives the "do it my way" syndrome. Ashley is a supremely driven individual (you don’t get Ashley rich if you are not) and no way will he ever be happy with not being the best he can be at doing whatever it is he does. These folks just don’t think like that. I console myself in the fact that he is monstrously successful and is driven to remain that way in all he does. The downside is that these types also play a very long game they know that success takes time and absolutely nothing will deviate them from their path. (they do learn from mistakes though). I do not hold with the “he’ll be happy with 11th every year” theory, that’s not success, BUT what I do believe is: The club MUST live within its means and there will be absolutely no deviation from that, and as such, I don’t/won’t agonise over he should “put his hand in his pocket” because he won’t, it’s a complete waste of time and emotion.
  6. Not totally true on two fronts. First - His blueprint is for the club to be self sufficient, if a players cost fits within the clubs affordability he’ll be bought irrespective of fee. The other “condition” is that he has resale value, that does not have to be more than he was bought for, just more than his value “on the books” at the time of sale (due to amortisation). Second – “competitive wages” are paid already (daft wages are not) and will continue to be so, so long as it fits with the % of turnover for wages that’s been laid down. It really is quite simple, players will be bought if it fits the model. If they don’t they won’t. In hindsight, he made a mistake in the summer, there was a case for a little speculate to accumulate, especially given the explosion in PL dosh next season. Hopefully he’s learned from that, but it doesn’t need a daft or never ending splash of cash. In fact if we hadn’t had so many injuries (way more than you could possibly reasonably expect) the apparent summer non-spend likely wouldn’t have been a factor.

    Sir Alex Ferguson

Absolutely hate the bloke, but as a manager he has no peer, he does everything he can to help his team win (much of it distastefull) but he does what a manager should. I have HUGE respect for him as a manager.

    Alan Pardew

Anyone who is calling for the manager to be sacked at this stage of the season, with the injuries/suspensions and resultant inability to be able to play our better players on the field together consistently, is a moron (and likely under 25).

Yep, despite that the banks still make it 3 days to clear a cheque, process a standing order from one account to another (which in "the systems" are processed immediately) etc etc Nothing to do with wringing out interest on the cash value of course. When I worked for a major utility in my past, the Group Treasury boys reckoned on a good day they could make 30% interest overnight on the cash collected. Add all the cheques banked at a bank together on a given day and know they play with that money for two days before they'll give it to you. At least Wonga are up front about it.
  11. I think you are being very generous in your summary of the game. You are 100% right that if those two decisions had gone against us then this forum would be a different place today. 100% not offside and 100% over the line, no doubt. However, it is very hard for me to be distracted from an excellent 2nd half performance and a very valueable draw for us. That said last night is the best I have seen Everton play for a long time - not that I follow your form that closely, Baines is playing out of his skin right now. You don't have too much to be worried about this season if that form can be maintained. Should never have been a free kick in the first place, so therefore we got what we deserved with that one. The offside on the other hand.... The offside, looked offside in real time, Linesman don't get slow-mo and freeze frames with lines drawn on the pitch (from Taylors trailing heel btw). Was a marginal decision and the correct one "in real time" and was nowhere near a howler. Felianis body was behind Taylors, that's what the Lino would have seen. Similarly with the so called "goal", in real time, no way could he give it. The freeze frame shows the ball likely to be over the line, in real time it was in that position for the merest fraction of a second. Until there is the technology, both decisions were perfectly understandable.

Rangers have not been punished at all yet, all that has happened is a consequence of their actions. -10 points administration Europe - they are not "banned" they do not qualify for a licence Fine- The verdict of the appelate tribunal was that what they did was "just one step down from match fixing" and so they came up with the transfer embargo (at a time Rangers were in admin) They will soon be in liquidation (they're not yet) and will cease to be. Sevco 5088 - bought their assetts (for a paltry sum) and they aslo bought their goodwill (history) They cannot just keep the good bits. They were not relegated, they're still in Admin, a whole "new" club started up and has been allowed to join Div 3 (ahead of others that properly qualify). The Dual Contracts investigation must go ahead, it appears they have been playing ineligible players for years (maybe up to 20 years). The fans always pay the price, but in this case, the fans have enjoyed success that was won by nailed on cheating and they just don't seem to "get" that. They are lucky they may still have a club to support. They still owe other clubs money for players and yet (as in the Jelavic case) the new club expect to pocket the money that Everton still owe them but they don't want to pay Rapid Vienna, they owe Hearts £800K for Lee Wallace, who has transfreered over oldco to Newco, how's that work ?? They have a player that they never even paid for. Not to mention the £120 Mill of debt owed to businesses big and small and HMRC, what about those folk. They're losing out big time in some cases yet that's OK !!! They made their bed and need to learn some humility and contrition. The fans didn't cause any of it, but enjoyed the benefits of it (in success terms).
  13. Less 25% which is our reported sell on clause with them for AC, less whatever they have left owing to us (they only "only" !! paid £30 Mill up front) say £3Mill, so £16 Mill = £9Mill

Apart from his rant for the independant judiciary panel to be publicly named (when his club already knew the names), which led to death threats, oh aye, he's been impecable

All of them So far hearts, utd and Aberdeen have said they'll vote no. Rangers and killie will vote yes, Motherwell will let their fans decide leaving hibs, st mirren, st Johnstone, Ross county , inverness and Celtic. so rangers do get a vote? they should let murderers and rapists have a say in whether they're sentenced or not and all, makes as much sense The vote is for SPL shareholders, old Rangers (rip or rather rih) are in administration and still exist (sort of) the administrators hold the vote.
  16. Exactly. There's ages left in this transfer window, most clubs wont even think about moving until the end of the Euros. Absolutely no problem with dipping our toe in the water. Agree, and remember we pay everything up front, which can make an apparently smaller bid more attractive then a larger one that's paid over a few years. £4/5Mill up front versus a £6 mill bid that's £2 Mill up front and £1 Mill a year for 4 years, for example. The up front amount gives Lille (or whoever) more buying power themselves if they, in turn, structure purchases over time.

    Rangers Newco

They want to come back into the SPL, obviously. In order to do that they need a majority (not sure exactly what it is) to vote them back in. It seems like they would get the required votes, although I don't think the rest of Scottish football fans are happy about that. Apparently there are plans to boycott games if they are allowed back in. There will be a HUGE revolt if they get back in. The other clubs are stretched financially because they tried to compete with a club that was artificially (illegaly) inflated. IF the double contracts are proven and the games inelligible players played in turned over - as the rules state - (over 70-ish players over about 15 years btw) , Hibs, Hearts, Aberdeen and Motherwell (and maybe Dundee Utd as well) would ALL have won at least one title, got into Europe, earned more money etc etc. No wonder other clubs fans are hacked off. They didn't just overspend, they blatantly cheated playing inelligble players in HUNDREDS of games.
  18. Toonpack

    Rangers Newco

Why ?? They've been cheating for years with not a hint of remorse throughout this process. Playing players they couldn't afford other than by cheating the revenue by having double contracts i.e. ineligible players. All that they've won was done under false pretences. They also happen to be the most obnoxious biggoted lot anywhere (the other cheek of the same arse is no better either).
  19. Carr himself said he wasn't going to the Euro's as they dont watch players after April as they are tired. All their work was done way before the season end.
