Just can’t see any team taking that much of a gamble- insurance premium would be through the roof for one thing.

….before being sold on for a handsome profit after a season or two. Think of the profit sheet!

Nah, simply not worth it, both for us, and him. No player with a fitted defibrillator has gone on to the level they previously played at. (Other than Blind…but he collapsed in a friendly with it fitted). Footballers with defibrillators: Anthony van Loo, Roeselare: The Belgian defender was allowed to continue his career after being fitted with a defibrillator. It shocked his heart back into a normal rhythm after suffering cardiac arrhythmia during a match. He retired in 2018, aged 30, as he felt he could not return to his old performance levels. Fabrice Muamba, Bolton: Former Arsenal midfielder Muamba's heart stopped for 78 minutes but he eventually made a recovery. He retired five months later without having returned to football. He did, however, play 15 minutes in Ian Goodison's testimonial match. Daniel Engelbrecht, Stuttgarter Kickers: The striker collapsed on the pitch against Erfurt but returned to the professional game aged 24 after 17 months, against numerous doctors' advice. He scored against Wehen Wiesbaden, becoming the first footballer to score with a defibrillator. However, he retired in 2018 to move into coaching when he found out the device had brought him back to life three times. Daley Blind, Ajax and Holland: Blind was fitted with a pacemaker after complaining of dizziness in a Champions League match against Valencia in December 2019. He subsequently collapsed in a friendly against Hertha Berlin in August 2020 but has generally enjoyed a safe return to top-level football.

Hasn’t Eriksen been released simply so he can return ‘home’ to be with friends and family? I doubt he’ll be signing anywhere other than a Danish team.
-
Not a single person has said this. As I’ve stated, the criticism has to be justified, and at this moment, I personally feel none of it is.
-
Criticism when justified is fine. Complaining about not firing Bruce on day 1 etc is unjustified imo. They’ve come into a shell of a club with zero staff, zero experience, and are undoubtedly doing the best they can with what they have. You can’t magic CEOs and DoFs out of thin air. Let’s see where we are, as well as what the future plans are, at the seasons end before hanging them out to dry. They deserve that at the very least.

And with decisions allegedly having to be run past PIF before being actioned, how do you know it’s the speed of her decisions that are so bad and that you’re now whinging about? None of us know what’s happening in the background.
-
Avram Grant, Big Phil Scolari, Di Matteo….not to mention Frankie L all beg to differ. The difference being they had the ambition (and finance) to change things instantly when it wasn’t going right or the manager wasn’t suited, unlike ourselves.
-
I’d try and get Tolisso for CM. Looks like he’s leaving Bayern.
-
Torreira is on a loan to buy deal- can’t see them turning him down.
-
Good partnership, but I think Viera/Petit would shade it!
-
But there has been literally zero reports (I think?) about them cutting losses in the event of relegation? Everything points to them not doing this. Would Staveley and the Reubens have bought the club in the precarious position they all knew it to be in, knowing that PIF would likely walk? No chance. PIF bought it themselves, knowing the clubs position and the chance of relegation. The owners have stated it’s a long term investment (not a short term cut and run in which PIF would lose massive face in the Arab world). I also think that they welcome the Staveley/Reuben involvement, or slse they would simply have bought the club outright themselves- buying another club after selling their share in ours, and I doubt they’d have the same compatible and amiable relationship with any other parties.
-
So why not have simply bought Chelsea or Man Utd and have it ready made? They would have known it will take years for us to achieve those levels at the present time.
-
Maybe. Who knows? I just can’t see it personally, after such an incredibly short time.
-
But given their culture and business acumen as well as the history of purchasing the club in the first place, it suggests that they would stay, if relegated.
-
Monetarily yes. Culturally and business wise, not at all.
-
It’s not naive when you consider all those clubs would cost several times more than us. And that would be after they magic a buyer for us. Wouldn’t they have bought them to start with if they wanted them? Especially given our league position which hasn’t altered since the sale? Or perhaps those clubs are maybe not for sale after all? Not to mention the pride being lost, and losing business face at running immediately out of a business deal when things have gone wrong for one year- it’s simply not the way they would do it, imo. I’ve seen pages on here being talked about exactly this topic?
-
It’s been talked about to death. They won’t sell just because we’re relegated.
-
Not just about profit, but also about the ‘sportswashing’ and changing the view of Saudi in Western eyes. That’s beyond money.
-
The cunt that stamped on Tomisayu’s face the other week? No thanks- thought he was shite and every time I’ve watched him he’s ran around headless.
-
Yep. Contract up at the end of 22/23 season.
-
Comes under the fair comparison regs I think I saw a previous poster say.
-
Yes fucking please to both. Although I’d presume many others will be in for them.
-
20 appearances (10 starts) this season. I think he simply wants to play more to be honest, given his age (31?). He’s got a lot of competition at PSG. IF he left on loan, I could see him going to Arsenal or Spurs maybe? (Especially if Dele leaves Tottenham).
-
No chance of paying him a decent wage after their Euro failure last night, I’d have thought.
