  1. Talking previously about what it would take for him to quit Ajax, he said: "There’s no reason for me to think about that now. I am very happy at Ajax and I give everything for the club, every day. I know you can’t plan anything in football, but you have to make an exceptional and extraordinary offer if I want to change my plans." make him the offer he wants, Amanda.
  2. A couple at articles mentioning his name, but nothing definite. Seems to be tied in to Overmars coming. Odds have dropped from 100 to 25 in the last few days.
  3. Just more talk about Overmars bringing Ten Hag, but it all seems to be from the single Mirror article that’s being rehashed. Nothing more about Fonseca or anyone else from what I can see.
  4. A certain Alan has managed in both countries too…
  5. Schteve…? Yeah, I left a few out. Although fair play to him- he did win the league there.
  6. Because of the perceived pressure? Or our current league position?
  7. Completely agree when we’re competing with any other European league team for players or managers.
  8. Yep. A decent manager (with decent coaches) get a few more league positions out of average players without having to spend big money on players. Seems a no brainer to get the right setup from the off, instead of penny pinching like Ashley. (Although obviously we know he didn’t want to get any higher in the league).
  9. I get what you’re saying, and it’s a possibility. But it’s also a possibility that he WOULD come- certainly not a foregone conclusion that he wouldn’t.
  10. Top of the league…in Holland. Hardly the same as being anywhere in the PL. Being paid a pittance compared to the riches here. Having to sell year in year out to make money and constantly change the team. Yes, he’s in the CL, which would be the only thing going against choosing us at the current time, I’d say.
  11. He could’ve waited for a non relegation threatened team? Manager jobs come up every season. He chose Newcastle because he believed in the potential. Any decent manager who knows the English game and our club, would do the same, I’d like to think.
  12. Business people who also want the VERY best, which is why there have been rumours about the likes of Simeone and Conte- not that I think they’d currently come, but that’s the sort of manager our owners consider. If they spend £10m to get the right man for the next 3-5 years, I think they’d consider it money well spent and a small sum considering everything else.
  13. Yeah- the other Dutch managers in the PL are pretty bad in fairness. one man who managed in both countries and did pretty well….SBR.
  14. Rafa did. but you’re right- he’d have to be coming with the belief that under his leadership we wouldn’t go down, and then the following season we could begin to push on with becoming the biggest club in the world.
  15. Jol 202 games, 37.1% win Koeman 114 games, 46.5% Gullit 104 games, 39.4% Van Gaal, 76 games, 51.3% Hiddink, 34 games, 52.9%
  16. From what I’ve read and understand, they were talking about not approaching Premier League based employed managers so as not to cause more bad feeling between clubs?
  17. Strongly linked with Barca too.
  18. I guess whoever comes in will have to see and buy into the dream and possibilities, like Keegan. Yes, Ten Hag could maybe get other jobs offers in the summer, but by then we’d have a manager and he might not get that chance again.
  19. Why? Genuine question. He’d be on a pittance in wage compared to probably even an English Championship manager. Know he’s currently in the CL but this gives him an opportunity to progress his career onto a previously unimaginable path, which I think he’d be interested in.
  20. Don’t think he ruled himself out- just said along the lines of “it’s not the right time” or similar. Definitely not a ‘no’, and seemingly just being professional to Ajax.
  21. Why would it be better for us to wait until the summer? By that point, hopefully we’d still be in the PL and other managers could come into the picture.
  22. Nope, I’d presume the shortlist is that belonging to the consortium of those people who they want to sound out/interview. For example, they’d undoubtedly have had Rafa on the shortlist- he wouldn’t have informed them he’d be interested though.
  23. If they don’t need the cash, and think any purchase will make us stronger compared to them, then yeah, I see it as a possibility. Just my opinion.
