Problem is people follow news on here of every single tweet which says everything and all contradict each other, rather than taking a deep breath and only trusting anything that appears in a reputable paper/website which doesn't just say 'according to reports on the internet this may have happened'. We're all checking all teh time and it's easy to get excited. All signs point to it likely happening. All the journos (some do like riling up a bit sure) can say is it's not definite cos they don't know. Caulkin or whatever may have been told it's done by one source but he could feel that say Staverley saying that 'unofficially' is not enough to report it's done, because it isn't. I imagine the premier league will approve it, will probably send it to the members of the league privately. That will leak. The money transfer will complete and the official confirmation will come then. They will use the gap between the approval and the money transfer to prepare any extra publicity material about it and officially sound out managers on off chance they can announce that at same time.

it's 'reportedly' i.e. they have no information themselves and are just re reporting the other stories, and not to be negative but I imagine Sky Sports would be among the first to 'officially' know, so if it is true it's maybe before the final rubber stamp or whatever

I still do not understand why newcastle fans of any fans, think that it you have to be raving fans of a clubs owner? Have some people decked their houses out entirely in sports direct stuff cos they think people have to suck off whoever owns the club or something? Do people not understand that it is possible to be conflicted about the ownership, excited for prospects of investment but feeling a bit bad about where it's coming from? Do they really live monk like existence of absolutes and loudly proclaim on the street at anyone who wants the world to be a little better but dares to drive a car or something? Hate how us who do feel probably shouldn't be entirely happy with saudi ownership are cast as humourless moralists when people are desperatley excusing chopping up people to shout hypocrit at others. for the record i will never resent anyone looking forward to this takeover, god the club needs some ambition. But like most things it is complicated.

One of the problems is that a lot of the confidence in the takeover send to have come from bullishness from the buyers side, but they're hardly ever going to say will maybe we're not fit and proper owners are they. Nobody knows if the league are seriously considering rejecting the takeover, are just trying to sweat some concessions out of them or just trying to be legally covered thoroughly before agreeing it. It'll surely happen i don't believe the league have any desire to turn away massive investment especially when a lot will be scaling back but i don't think it's totally impossible they will say no either

Rubbish, Lascelles is good, Rafa recognised that and drilled him well. The 3 man CBs work well as his technical limitations are made up for by those next to him and he clears up behind. He does have a mistake but he is also clearly a leader on and off the pitch. He does have variable form true and has had bad patches but I do rate him.

I remember Best being quite handy as a second striker actually, holding up play and causing a nuisance. Nothing special mind but didn't hate him or anything, just never really going to score many in the league

Schar and lejeune are very technically gifted and schar in particular has awesome threat going forward. I wouldnt turn my nose up at stones if offered but if we have to prioritize it woldn't be a significant percentage of transfer costs.

Honestly going forward with money lejeune lascelles schar is for me a fine set up who would be fine as we start to push on. Lascelles is limited but covers for the other two in last ditch defending and speed. Pretty much everywhere else needs an upgrade
