Defensively i agree but offensively he's still got it and if Mancini continue with this 3-5-2 then he's perfectly suited to the wing back role.

All assumptions at the end of the day but i honestly believe we did have 3 options for a fullback. Debuchy, Van der Wiel and the last one and this is where the assumptions come in Cissokho and moving Santon to RB. Debuchy we did'nt want to pay for, VdW's wages was deemed to high and Cissokho went to Valencia. Still think we should have signed Clyne when he was available though.

Tell AVB i said Hi! but seriously i'll be very surprised if Dembele didn't play the role that has got him this move in the first place. How i see it too, who are else are Spurs trying to bring in or will Dembele, Moutinho and Lloris be it? ( if they all join, would be fantastic signings mind !)
-
Dembele will play CM, that's been his role for a while now. As for Moutinho he's a lot like Dembele but probably better lol and better vision..... Maybe AVB want's to play them both alongside each other as CM's both are pretty complete midfielders and typical all action midfielders. Both can pass, dribble, tackle, intercept etc etc. And maybe have a DM behind them, not sure where Sigurdsson fits into all this though. Pretty good line up though.

I'd take 6th right now tbh and would consider it a massive success.

Never listening to Pards again

It's not the best signal of intent to the likes of Krul, Ben Arfa, Cisse etc either. I'm sure they were signed in the knowledge they were signing for a club with a vision and an ambition to make a mark at the top of the Premier League. They played out of their skin all season, achieved European football qualification, the bloke who managed the team got voted Manager of the Year, full houses every home game, new sponsors.... ...and we've spent about £3m (net) to supplement things and push on a bit. Wouldn't begrudge them for feeling a bit disillusioned at what's (not) happened since May. Really underwhelming summer for all concerned. Not in favour of just going mad and lashing out £25m on a couple of players purely to get them in but the penny-pinching has been frustrating. Genuinely good players (Debuchy) who would make a massive difference to the way the team play haven't come in despite (relatively) low pricetags. Got no desire to see us go back to the Shepherd way of splashing the cash and paying over the odds but there needs to be a bit of flexibility when quality players are available and publically state they want to play for us. There has to be a happy medium and we're facing the prospect of going into the season a couple of players short in a few positions. There's nothing we can do about it as fans but it's frustrating after such an encouraging platform to build on after last season. Nail on the head and exactly how i feel.

Not like it matters to us if we don't pay the fee but i highly doubt this story is true, one reason is this the same Sky Sports 24 who said Ba was off to Galatasaray

I have gone past caring who comes in now tbh, i just want the window to close so we can get on with the season and support the players we do have.

Sounds like a f*cking pop band

Buying 1 first team player and what seems a back up player at that is not showing ambition especially when the club supposedly want us to push for top 4. The club wants CL football and i don't see how Pardew has been backed enough to reach those goals or get close to them for that matter. We are short upfront mainly because of AFCON, if Senegal qualify for it then we are well and truly f*cked. Playing Anita at fullback for long periods is like playing Jonas at fullback.... can he do it? sure, should he be doing it? nope. Has anybody from the club actually said that we realistically expect to be challenging for CL football? I think people's expectations are getting away from them if they think last season's exploits mean we can afford to spend like City and Chelsea in an effort to clinch a CL spot. Pardew said we are trying to push for a CL spot on many occasions and quite frankly when you consider the extra games i don't think Pardew has been backed enough this summer to achieve even that.

Far too many of our fans have a very small time attitude now imo. Happy to exist in mid table financial stability and anything else is a bonus. The club like to perpetuate it too. "Please don't take our players, pretty please?" Completely agree, although considering the struggles on and off the pitch since Sir Bobby was sacked i'm not surprised by that attitude. Although i'm not one who agrees with it, i would like to have seen us push on but i guess its not to be.

Yes he was brilliant in the opening months until his injury, funny enough it coincided with a period of poor form for Bayern and while he came back to fitness i hasn't been anywhere near that level since. Mind you it won't be the end of the world for Bayern if he doesn't, Martinez and Kroos in midfield and Shaqiri or Muller ahead of them still isn't all bad

To be fair we do this song and dance every year. We always "need" more players. So you think we don't need more players then? the consensus at the end of last season that the squad wasn't big enough to deal with European football. What's changed in all honesty? will still don't have a squad capable of being competitive on 4 fronts. We are going to have to be very clever as far as rotation goes to achieve this with the numbers we have quite frankly.

Kroos was better than Schweignsteiger in the Madrid games IMO.

I don't think anyone wants the policy scrapped, in fact im pretty sure most prefer this policy to Shepherd's policy ( or lack of) I do think most of us would like to see more flexibility in negotiations though, as it seems we are very stubborn. Not asking to go completely mad and put the finances at risk, but if we want a player and our valuation and the club in questions valuation is not that far apart then i think there should be more flexibility in finding a happy medium. We won't be able to get bargains every window.

Wigan have spent more

Oh right i'm starting to get very concerned by Spurs now.

Disagree personally, RB is the only position where we needed to strengthen the first eleven. The other two signings( CB and Forward) were for depth purposes, first team Simpson aside is great that has never been the problem it's the next in line options in a few positions which is the problem and always has been.
-
I don't know about everyone else but i'm seeing 0 ins and 0 outs and as for AFCON it won't be as bad this year. We either lose Cisse & Ba or Tiote, ok if Senegal qualify we are pretty f*cked but if Ivory Coast qualify( which i'm pretty confident of) we should be pretty fine with Anita's addition. I'm more worried about the extra games and how the squad will handle it more than anything else.

In sincerely hopes this happens again i doubt it though.
