Well I mean 10 goals in 36 games last season looks ok. But better when you see it was 1765 minutes total (so basically just under 20 full matches). I thought that for our first season back in the PL we'd be looking at a striker who's going to get 15+. Maybe Gayle can be that man, I hope so, but I can't see it. I thought Rafa would be looking in Spain for a striker tbh. I think if Gayle plays 38 games as our main striker he'll get 15+, it's his fitness that worries me most, definitely need reliable backup.

I saw quite a lot of Grosicki last season on TV. The only attribute I could see is that he's fast. For what I saw he was quick but also had a very good workrate, very much a Rafa type wide player.

I remember checking some stats on him when he was getting slated at the time - this is our record in the relegation season with and without Dummett in the team: 30 points from 23 games Dummett started, 1.30ppg 7 points from 15 he missed, 0.47ppg Obviously the relative quality of his replacements was a factor, but it's by no means a stretch to say had he stayed fit we would've got the extra couple of points needed.

And Dummett doesn't play like that in the PL? Just because he can put in a tackle or two doesn't make him a good full-back. Over a season that form equates to around 50 points - comfortable 8th in this season's final table. No reason we can't be in and around that area with decent investment and a full preseason imo.
