  1. Our performances weren’t that great when he was in the side, but he was the one finding the goals or driving the side on.
  2. Aye, you can’t spend something to the tune of 700 million and say you’ve had no backing.
  3. Also, there are those of us who are in the middle who don’t really know what the club should do because of all he has done here. Both represent gambles. I always try to choose my words very carefully when it comes to him, a) because of his achievements, but mainly because of his conduct here, and how he goes about his craft. The prem is full of acting clowns, but you couldn’t get more authenticity than Eddie Howe. Some of the players need a long look in the mirror also, they should be getting just as much criticism.
  4. You do make some fair points. I'd answer back by saying we need to see something from the manager now in the remaining games that will suggest he's adaptable or has another string to his bow. Because the football we play is absolutely shocking and thats where the fans are scratching their heads. At what point can criticism of his tactics become valid, when he plays 4-3-3 every week which has been totally stunted by the opposition. The bigger context is always relevant, but the here and now also. All the talk was of renewed energy due to plenty of training time now we're out of Europe, then the talk was of a response after the Sunderland defeat was bound to come. Neither has happened? Why? Because of a boardroom fallout over summer? Not having that sorry.
  5. Now you're talking about sacking him though. Im talking about the very fair questions he's been getting for how he's setting the team up and the manner in which we're losing games. I certainly didn't think we'd be getting outplayed by Sunderland at home when I heard Paul Mitchell was leaving. That's the point I'm making, is that you can point to the window and other things to a certain point, but when you're playing as bad as we are now, and make no mistake we are currently one of the worst teams in the league, then questions are bound to be asked of the manager and he can have no complaints. I won't exclude the players either who have done nothing to justify the money they earn.
  6. I wouldn’t be so sure mind. I’m sure I saw someone being called a stain on football for wanting Eddie Howe out 😂
  7. For every game read most. Just a personal view, but I think a good 3/4’s of our games we’ve been either all over place defensively or really poor the other way. But I’ll take all your points on board regarding tight games and individual mistakes. All true. And yes all managers make mistakes, and they all get called out for them. He’s not immune from criticism, and I speak as someone who thinks he’s the one of the best in our history.
  8. And I think most would agree. But he received plenty of praise when that was happening. The flip side should be true also.
  9. How on earth is it crazy? How many times does this need to be addressed? Most people acknowledge the summer was a shit show, but you can’t just point to that as the be all and end all reason as to what we’re seeing every game, particularly these last few games, when the wheels have completely fallen off. And if it needs reminding, we still spent a fortune. There’s absolutely no way any fan would have said fair enough if someone had told them where we’d be come this stage of the season, and the results that got us there. The questions are simple. Was the summer a collective mess? Yes. Is Eddie Howe currently underperforming? Yes. Both are true, yet the hardcore Eddie followers on here treat even the slightest criticism like a character assassination.
  10. Personally don’t blame him for wanting a move to Bayern. What player wouldn’t? It’s how he goes about it in the upcoming weeks and also how we go about it. If he’s wanting away let’s get it done asap.
  11. I’ll bet you’re incorrect
  12. Lets break down the wider context then. - After the cup final win, a clear preference by PIF to side with the managers ideas of transfers, resulting in a total collapse of an already poor working relationship between Howe and Mitchell. We can argue all day whether he was right or wrong, but Howe clearly wanted prem based players when Mitchell was brought in to do the opposite. This is as clear as day, and it's why Mitchell left. Was Mitchell a c**t for exiting without warning? Yes, but if this is a boxing match they're both drawing on points in the 12th round. You didn't need a crystal ball to predict any of the above either, when both parties were doing interviews about how they saw the direction of the club, it was like the old Newcastle United everyone loved. Eddie spat his dummy out the second Stavely was out the door, so for this I will absolutely attibute some - not all - blame at the managers door. We also had the biggest warning from the summer before when we embarrassingly hunted down Marc Guehi's signature only to be rejected by Palace every time. Bells were going off immediately that these two couldn't work together, and it posed big questions around our scouting and recruitment policy (against the backdrop of PSR). I believe Howe wants to much say on players. Thats not saying he should just accept any old junk, but I honestly think he would have been rejecting every single player Mitchell brought forward, but thats a personal view. What he clearly can't be held accountable for is the seemingly cavalier mindset from those above him by allowing him, his nephew, and Nickson, navigate one the most difficult transfer windows we've ever had. Nor is it his fault Isak acted the way he did, and any manager would find it difficult. A proactive ownership would surely have done something to try and help - but this leads that other discussion about how slow PIF are at just about everything. Then again, can you just quickly pluck a DOF from thin air, get him signed up to the 'project', all this whilst your CEO (another guilty party) is leaving due to illness, and your prized asset is on strike? So like I said, no one escapes this one looking good, from manager to players to directors to owners. On the pitch, Howe I think is freezing under the pressure with his decisions or lack of, but he's not being helped by his players (who he got this far), plenty of whom have chucked it in, aren't good enough, or aren't justifying the huge fee's we paid for them. If you combine the two it's the worst of both worlds. It seems to me like the players can only play consistently well in one scenario, which is a bouncing SJP when the other team fold under the noise, but you have to earn that support. But this is a team full of experienced internationals, and a now experienced coach, and the facts need to be laid bare. We are 14th in the league, having lost 15 with more doubtless to come. We have been turned over twice by our nearest and dearest. We are now looking over our shoulder, the talk of Europe beforehand simply laughable. Our eyes aren't lying to us, and we have been playing horrendous football for the majority (not all) of this season, even in the games we win. This has nothing to do with a fall out with executives, or PIF's slow approach, or PSR. Even the sale of Isak now has the whiff on an excuse when we are week in week out serving up the dross that we do. This is on the manager and his players, who instead of coming out fighting are doing anything but. TL:DR - everyone needs to shoulder the blame, including Eddie Howe.
  13. So not ignoring it then, thanks. The summer was a collective disaster, no one escapes any blame.
  14. also I doubt there's a poster on this forum who doesn't want him to sort this out. Eddie Howe is a credit to Newcastle and one of our finest ever managers. We've dished out countless trashings and won a cup, playing some brilliant footy along the way. But we are watching the same film every weekend now. I'd love for him to rescue this, but these remaining games after the mackem defeat are really damaging, in that there's been ZERO response, expect looking worse. He is a very one dimensional coach and I think we probably need something new.
  15. No one is ignoring it. Yes Isak is a huge miss, yes the schedule has been brutal, yes the boardroom situation wasn't helpful, but we still shouldn't be this poor, and borderline unwatchable. He is trying the same thing over and over every week and its beginning to make the dressing room unravel. He isn't being at all helped by his players I'll say too mind. As iv mentioned previously, you really see a Newcastle players metal when they're against the ropes, but its looks as though the vast majority of them are buckling under the pressure (and it can be far worse than it is).
  16. Regardless of who's been bought and sold, we are a lifeless football team, and arguably play the worst football in the league. I will take all considerations into account but still be of the opinion that what we're serving up is abysmal. I saw Eddie say he's still got the fire to succeed at Newcastle but his eyes told a different story to me.
  17. That’s true yeh but there’s barely even a glimpse of resolve
  18. All smiles when it’s going great, but hiding when the heat is on.
  19. I think you find a lot about Newcastle players when it’s like this, and the pressure is really on. Looks like quite a few can’t handle it.
  20. I think the arguments blaming and not blaming psr in the broader landscape are both valid. We've spent a fortune because we had too, but equally we've spent in one window out of the last how many? The squad is both expensively assembled and beyond stale. What you can't blame PSR for are the decisions Howe or his players are making in game. The baffling substitutions or the lack of what look like pretty clear changes (Dan Burn vs Brentford away). It's not PSR's fault we look like an U21 team trying to see a game out. He could try a new system out in these remaining games, get Wolte and Wissa on the field telling them to prove themselves Newcastle players, which I don't think many people would have a problem with, but he refuses. I don't think thats on PSR either.
  21. Can’t stand the term entitled mind. That’s basically saying you can’t have an opinion unless it’s universally positive. If a fan isn’t at all pleased we lost to Sunderland twice, he’s an entitled wanker, and it’s his fault the players aren’t performing. Criticism of the team is completely fair, and a level headed supporter can accept the mitigations of this season and still think what’s being produced isn’t good enough. By the club as a collective, including Eddie Howe, who isn’t bullet proof.
  22. I don’t think anyone ‘hates’ Howe. In fact I think most supporters admire and love what he’s done for Newcastle But he’s clearly not getting a tune out of the side, and his tactics have been worked out imo. The players have been gutless for large portions too, and don’t look like they’re fighting for the manager.
  23. Well we prioritised Mbuemo then put the phone down as soon as we heard his wage demands?
  24. Not that I believe it but Hurzeler would be a shocking appointment. Would be going from a scenario of a manager who maybes wants to much say to one who does as he’s told.
  25. Aye I’d be amazed if Hughton kept them up.
