A decent percentage of this fanbase moaned when Shelvey left. Here we see Newcastle attempting to make smart accounting trades and the penny seemingly still hasn’t dropped for a lot of supporters. We’re not doing it because we want too, we’re doing because we have too. The very idea that people would rather see us start on -4 or -6 for a player we haven’t played once is absolutely ridiculous.
-
What?!
-
Fraser will go for nothing, and regardless of what fans know, I doubt there's a long line of clubs (as stupid as Forest) knocking on the door for any of the players you've listed. We have sellable prospect who hasn't played a second for us with serious interest and we need to sell quick. The club will get him sold for the greater good, and move on - our fans should too.
-
Exactly. What part of clubs not wanting our other players do people not get?!
-
We aren’t selling him because we don’t rate him!
-
It’s going to be a long few years if fans react like this every time we flip a young player for profit.

Austria’s passing has been terrible

Is that not a corner??!!

He had a strange season because as you say for the first portion of it he was scarily good and looked one of the best full backs in Europe. His bad patch was amplified though as his mistakes led directly to goals, and they were lapses in concentration you wouldn't associate with a player of his experience - in that regard they were inexcusable. The comments regarding his season from pundits can probably apply to our season as a whole. That one really rough patch over December is all people seem to cling onto - when for the most part we were pretty bloody good.

I'm a bit surprised at the reaction to this but football is all about opinions. To me, if 40 mill is offered I wouldn't even hesitate to sell, even to Liverpool. 33 million profit on a player who hasn't kicked a ball for us represents an insane opportunity to help with PSR, and these are surely the sort of logical and smart deals we have to make short term, both to avoid selling any of our superstars and also strengthen quickly in the right areas. I don't really get the listing of players who should go before him thing either. That's obvious, but selling Minteh doesnt means all other deals are off the table, and I'm pretty sure the manager will know this. Finding willing buyers is the issue, and if you can find a club willing to part 20mil for Almiron (who I hate to use as an example), then you are working miracles. Clearly, if Minteh turned out amazing for someone else and we're still trotting deadwood out 3/4 of the way through the season, then it would look stupid, but if we've added to the squad properly no one should be that bothered, but thats my view. I've read some fans say we are bad sellers, from a business point of view and thats probably true. But emotionally it's true even more so, and never has this been clearer given the reaction to this rumour.

Maybe thinking a little far ahead but it really does look like the ground is opening up in front of us. Guardiola potentially leaving in a year, Liverpool beginning a major transition post Klopp, Man Utd and Chelsea looking at the likes of Frank and Southgate? I get these clubs will always be around the top part of the league but the Guardiola Klopp thing seemed like a stranglehold on the division. And PSR exists, I get that too. But it does seem like the landscape is changing.

Exactly the sort of tweet a good portion of their fans will froth at.

If Spurs do lose this then we could be seriously close to them by the end of the weekend. Makes the palace game stick out even more:
-
It's obviously killing the southern press that one of the best strikers in the world, who plenty could have took a punt on, is ours. He's very unique, in his talent, style, but also his personality. Imagine even contemplating selling him to Arsenal, would be one of the stupidest things this club has ever done, and thats not even considering the message it sends out. Thankfully we're not owned by idiots anymore. I'm sure a few on here were touting him to Spurs as well recently, utterly ridiculous.
-
His quality is never in question tbf, and certainly won't be to the club. It's the availability. Considering this and his age if a decent offer comes in it has to be considered.

Think it was one nil and Le Fondre score twice late on. Fans turned on Pardew from that match onwards.
-
I think we conceded a pen very late on which they missed but put in the rebound. We absolutely battered them all game and rained shots on their goal. I'm not sure about being wasteful at their place, we were pretty rotten if memory serves. We played for a draw and they were up for it. The Sporting Lisbon one as mentioned above is one that will forever stick in the throat of many a Newcastle fan. Had a clear route through to the trophy and messed it up in spectacular fashion.

Trying to find this in amongst the sea of threads on that forum but I can’t. Any link?

He lacks technical qualities and always seems about 2 or 3 seconds behind the play, however this is now compounded as his main strength - work rate - has also seemingly abandoned him. He just ambles around the pitch contributing nothing. He has visibly given up after being robbed of possession in a number of games recently, including an incredible one vs Blackburn where the ref bailed him out. If he's tired then fair enough but he desperately needs to be dropped, for his own sake. I don't like ripping into Newcastle players unless they're obviously taking the piss, which I don't think he is, but he's just not good enough to be starting week in week out.

This camera angle is actually a disgrace. Can’t even see what’s going on.
-
The derby loss does seem to have tipped them over the edge. Beale was obviously a bit of an idiot but he had no chance from the stands the minute he lost that match. Still think they should have stuck with him.
-
Belgrade is rightly mentioned and the Sporting Lisbon quarter was horror show few can forget. Although of that meant a great deal at the time.
-
Translation - I’ve shot my load buying this shower of shite so now I can’t afford a sporting director.
-
Does highlight how desperate they've become since City have cleaned house. Getting this excited about nicking a sporting director off a club they supposedly look down on? 2nd prize to the Qatari money they were desperate for.
-
Wasnt Beale doing exactly what Mowbray was doing? Winning a few and losing a few and having them skirting around the playoffs? Isn't that exactly what Sunderland are at present? A half decent but inconsistent championship side.
