His main point is correct though - he shouldn't be sold.

Of course what the team needs and what the club will do are two entirely different things.

We need another two - if it stays as it is and Cisse or Gouffran got injured next season it would be a total nightmare. You hope that the club has learned from its mistakes.

20 mil is a hell of a lot aye, but it's only good if we plan to use it on good replacements, which would likely see us have to deviate from our policy slightly. That alone should make fans paranoid. An entirely predictable scenario would see us sell Cisse, struggle to land our primary targets and then panic as the window closes. Lets just save the hassle and keep / add to the ones we have. And agreed about Gouffran, didnt include him in the striker list as I don't think he's an out and out forward.

Can't believe some are saying sell him without a seconds thought - sell our only real recognised forward. As it stands we have him and Adam Campbell, a rookie. We need strikers in regardless wether Cisse goes or not - and as I said before I would not trust Ashley one bit to get in adequate replacements. To sell him now would be utter lunacy. Give Cisse good service and he'll score bag fulls, convinced of it. Can't just suggest get rid after one struggle of a season - he's always played on his own up front and basically feeds off scraps every game.

He has 7 or 8 French, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Argentina, Dutch internationals around him, what more does he need? He looked so unfit at back end of season and overweight, just generally had enough. Think he produces mint youtube clips but having watched every game he has played for us I don't see enough on a regular basis In fairness at the start of the season he was the only player who looked bothered and the only player playing with any sort of conviction. He got injured in a match he really shouldn't have been playing in and then we shoddily attempted to rush him back to fitness, first vs Fulham and second vs Anzhi on a prosthetic pitch. Since his knock it's gone downhill but it's not reason for us all to say we should just get rid. Wasn't long ago we were witnessing him rip into teams on a weekly basis, and its not hard to see we create absolutely nothing when he's not playing. He is by far and away our best player and selling him even for 25mil makes a statement imo.

Saw us get linked with De Jong again today. Be happy with any of the forwards we are linked with at the moment but it's gonna be far more of a struggle this term than last - and that didn't exactly pan out well.
