I don't think he adapts or reacts to anything in particular, he just knows how to transition teams between generation to generation better than anybody. Most of those teams had the better of Man U for a spell, but then they always rebuilt while their contenders failed to. True. To have been going for as long as he has and to have maintained that high standard is massively impressive. All players buy into his ethos.

No, but he got sacked with time to spare. We got tonked 3-0 off City, who were god awful under Stuart Pierce at the time. We were hurtling towards the bottom 3 and imo he'd have took us down. He'd also spent a fortune on players and results were terrible, albeit he did have injuries. Not a defence of Pardew by the way, but we were in utter tatters with Souness in charge, worse than now for me.

As bad as Pardew has been this season I still cant categorise him with Souness. His man management skills were absolutely atrocious, but aye you're right in what you say.
