Chelsea are going get bummed

Frightening how wrong all this is. How is it wrong? I'm not saying he got them into the PL, I'm saying he set a foundation for the club and took them from League one to a playoff challenger in the Championship. Also there's no way you can't agree they didn't have the worst squad in the league year after year. a) He didn't "basically make them a Premier League club", they had two managers after him. b) He didn't "win the FA Cup while keeping Wigan up" c) It's not Everton's highest ever points total. It was all wrong. Incidentally, if you're going down the route of "Martinez built Swansea even though he didn't have direct influence on promotion", then I'm afraid Moyes completely blows him out the water as far as Everton are concerned. Really, didn't know they achieved more under Moyes tbh, that's surprising, what season was it? They must be pretty close to it now though

he already has, he's won the FA Cup with f***ing Wigan and Everton already have their highest ever points total with three games to go The amount of points doesn't really matter. Well it does if it gets them into the champions league but if they finish 5th it doesn't matter in the slightest. Beginning to think you should have changed your username to Trigger tbh Seriously though, points make prizes mate, it really is that simple Just read the next sentence maybe you might be able to understand what I was saying then Well I can't agree with it either I'm afraid. Even if they miss out on 4th spot, they will still have had a good season, winning and drawing more games than any other season that has gone before. Surely that's some sort of progression and a benchmark to aim for and surpass in the future? If you attach points to a cup run, Wigan finished with more points at the end of that competition than the 91 other league clubs.

Pretty hefty disclaimer there Aye thought it was clear enough. I was just curious because there seemed to be heavy support for Moyes in the other thread but it hasn't materialised in the poll (which is interesting in itself)

6 moar years

Nobody gets it

Sadly, this is never going to happen

They weren't slowing anything down, they just refused to hoof the ball clear and lose possession (like we've done for years now under Pardew) thus inviting more pressure. It's only a small point, granted, but I thought it was noteworthy.
-
You shouldn't need to take risks of you're controlling the game but that's besides the point. It demonstrated that he had instilled a mentality in them, not to panic when under pressure and to keep the ball and find the spaces with good movement and a bit of cohesion, which personally I admired

KK is Newcastle United through and through, no doubt about it If it wasn't for Kevin Keegan, I wouldn't be here, so there another thing to thank him for

Not true IMO, Wigan often looked very good but just ended up losing a lot. The one thing that sticks in my memory is when we played them at SJP (won 2 or 3-0 if I recall) and we had them pinned back pretty tightly, but still they refused to hoof the ball away and clear their lines. They passed and passed in little triangles until they got an out ball and played themselves clear. I remember being impressed by that at the time, they obviously lost too many games but they were at least trying to play the game in the right way.

Just re-read the OP Even worse than I imagined/remembered

Didn't think it would be a question but as I said, there was certainly a lot of noise about Moyes in the other thread which kind of threw me a bit (although it might just have been Ronaldo multi posting)
-
Surprised the poll has been that one sided given some of the views in the AP thread over the two of them.

Ahh man HSV all the way Just got this season top delivered, really hoping we win the playoff and keep the record alive (only top flight team never to have been relegated since the formation of the Bundesliga). A lots of similarities between Newcastle and HSV, both very well supported clubs despite not having won shit since forever, Keegan etc, you simply have to choice them. Fuck St Pauli and the hipsters, they're so last year

Ahh yes, savage Granny rape, side splitting fun

I know there has been hot debate in the Pardew thread about this, so it might be interesting to see the numbers in a poll. Purely hypothetical, all things are equal, take Ashley out of equation, whether they would come here or not, none of that counts, simply, if it was your choice, who would you pick Personally, I'd choose Martinez, I just like the fact that he's eternally positive, instills a philosophy on his teams and players have a confidence to grow and flourish under him. All joking and jesting aside, I think Moyes is a decent Manager and will probably get another side close to the European spots in the league again (with a bit of luck thrown in) but I just prefer Martinez's more holistic approach to the game. Everton are playing the kind of football I'd like to see here, full backs pushing on, squeezing the opposition, quick passing and dynamic movement all over the pitch and a really positive attitude from start to finish. Confidence breeds confidence and he seems to be able to create that around the clubs he's been at. I can't imagine him talking himself or his side down, before or after a game, and for me, that says (and means) a lot.
