I think a lot of supporters of other clubs haven’t yet come to terms that this isn’t Ashley era Newcastle anymore. Most of them probably can’t even remember a pre-Ashley Newcastle.

For me these are the type of signings we’ve needed to fill out our squad as it has been weak beyond the first 11, in comparison to many top half sides. He may not get that many opportunities at first, but given Wilson and Isak both missed games last season I’m sure he’ll pick up game time. I think Mitchell and Howe will have done their homework on him and we’ll also be signing a lot of potential.

I watched Howe’s interview with Kieth Downie, thought it was very positive and that it should bring an end to the England talk, looked on twitter and clearly not! A lot of what’s been said has been twisted somewhat I feel.

Nah, he ain’t taking the England job. He’s not the type to walk away on an unfinished project in my opinion, he’s always struck me as being a very loyal guy. Look at his comments re Ashworth. The FA may want him and approach him, but he won’t take it. Much more likely to be Carsley.
