  1. Reckon he just wanted to go back to France tbh.

I agree, but it's just another thing that makes me sad about how worthless we are now. The kid was here for a year, was barely given a chance, recognised how s**** the club was, and couldn't wait to pop back to France. I want footballers to come here and fall in love with the club, and whilst I recognise that plenty of footballers are just playing for their wage and don't care about any club, I don't think that was the case with Cabella, given he seemed to be a nice enough guy...... but who knows.

Oh well. Another one bites the dust. Now we get a new Frenchman to "bed in" for a year and sell on after underachieving.

(I am also looking forward to the history-rewriting Mapou-esque comments that will inevitably follow his departure)

  2. Was just saying last night that I hoped he would try to move soon. Think he's the best national team prospect at the moment. As long as it's not getting lost on the bench of a Premier League club he should go for it.

  3. Such a bizarre transfer.

And I'm not convinced Cabella can't perform at a high level in this league. He went from hardly playing under Pardew to playing under John f***ing Carver. The talent is clearly there and I'd like to see McClaren give him a real chance as a #10, but that seems unlikely.

    Exactly.

I don't see how we can complain about having the worst coaches ever and yet still write off someone who only got a year under those same coaches. Makes no sense.

Have you written off Riviere? Because the same applies there. I agree the environment hasn't been the best to flourish. However...

For me Cabella's problems weren't related to tactics as such... he just isn't strong enough, or seeminly incapable of going past a man. It's all well and good having technique and doing stepovers when no ones challenging y

ou, but he completely ineffective (barring 45 mins against Chelsea).

Riviere's a bit different because he's never been close to the national team and nobody in his own country seemed to rate him. It's not at all a surprise that Riviere hasn't done anything. Cabella on the other hand was just breaking into the national setup, so clearly people who can judge talent a lot better than Pardew/Carver saw something in him. I don't disagree with anything about his play, it wasn't good. I'd just rather give him another chance before swapping him for someone who seems like just as much of a gamble.

Maybe Cabella wants out? And as has been said many, many times, we've got better options at #10. We need a winger, surely you can see that?

There were rumours early in the summer that he was unhappy here. If that's true then send him on his way. We do definitely need a winger but that has nothing to do with whether Cabella is a good player or not. All I'm saying is he hasn't had the best environment to prove himself either way.

  6. Madrid on the verge of signing Kovacic from Inter, according to Italian media and Marca. €30m-40m. He any good?

He's got a lot of talent but I don't think he helps them win the title or anything. He should really be staying at Inter and proving himself a bit more.

  7. Cisse's 2nd against Chelsea. Had just finished my final university exam/presentation so I was in a great mood to begin with. I remember running around my apartment telling my roommates that we scored the "greatest goal ever" and demanding that they come watch the replay. Spilled bong water everywhere but it was worth it.

  8. If so, that's Nastasic, Savic and Mangala they've given up on after basically one underwhelming season. Not sure what else they expect when buying centerbacks in their early 20's.

It's crazy. I thought Nastasic was good when he was played too. Mangala will get better and had a good showing today.
