  1. Would be a great signing for you to be honest. Only down side is he plays right side in a front three which is where Ben Arfa is at his best?

Think we all know the rumour is a load of shite to be fair.

Having a very good season. Remarkable improvement on last year. His distribution is the only thing that has let him down.

I wouldn't Why? Granted Mignolet is a cracking keeper but Nani is an quality footballer and can be almost unplayable on his day. Wouldn't think it would be too hard to find a replacement as good as Mignolet. I wouldn't swap Krul for Nani like although I think Krul is a lot better than Mig. We already have enough wide players. Nani's wages would be sky high and he seems to have the type of attitude that would see him underperform for us. Mignolet is an excellent keeper, still young, plenty of premier league experience and still nowhere near his prime. I hope we hang onto him for as long as possible.
  5. Carroll was the league's best centre forward?

Must be true - it's in the Mail

He gives 100%, scores the odd long ranger. His positioning, particularly at set pieces is woeful for a Premier League defender. Has done a good job and currently our longest serving player but I think a lot of fans have wanted us to move on from him for a while now. Bit like yourselves and Simpson. f*** OFF Is there really any need?

I've never really seen him be caught out of position but then again I'm used to Phil Bardsley at full back.

TBF, they're just a wee club from the North-East. If they want to throw 10M at us - as many of them seem to - then I think that might do the trick. It's instructive how different their reaction is to Villa and Swansea's, though. Swansea loved Caulker, but knew that we'd only loaned him out to get game time, and that there was no chance of buying him. They were just happy to have him in their team. Villa were less happy to be helping us out, but for the most part accepted that he was going back to Spurs at the end of the season. Sunderland just sound a bit desperate. I think the desperation stems from us not having any real quality at full back since Makin and Gray more than a decade ago. Christ, Gardner looks a lot better there than some of the dross we've had over the years. That said I wouldn't pay £10m. Between £5m and £8m seems about right to me. Yeah, 10M sounds like a no-brainer. I'd be extremely surprised if we went for 5, but 8M might be a tough decision. The main issue is that we really do need a back-up at LB, and there aren't many out there. What do you think of him? I'd love to take most RTG comments at face value, but I worry that he's being over-praised. He hasn't convinced me at all in our shirt, although there were signs that he could make a decent LB, given time. Honestly the praise he gets is justified. He has actually been that good. Strong in the tackle, great engine, supports the attack well and has a cracking left peg. What more do you want from a full back?

It's part of the reason why even on Boxing Day (when traditionally every game sells out) against the champions, on the back of a good away win and with heaven knows how many free and cheap tickets, their stadium still has 7,000 empty seats. Decent people who once supported Sunderland have just given up on the dump and left it to the ignorant aggressive rabble who now populate the backwater. Although I do believe a reduced public transport service was thrown in as an excuse for yesterday's pathetic attendance rather than the old classics like the North Sea and mortality rates etc. 42, 000 is a cracking attendance

Where did I say that? Probably based on only Sunderland supporters thinking it exists and even then only on the rare occasions you go above your bigger rivals. And you being a mackem and that............. Didn't your lot have a banner at one point?

There are people on this board advocating him signing for yourselves in January on loan. To be honest we've got about as much chance as each other of signing him. Zero

Basically. The s**** results we are both churning out is keeping each others managers in a job. Had either pulled away this month the pressure would have been immense. There's a degree of truth to this.

  22. The fact that you have Ben Arfa, Cabaye and Coloccini to come back suggests to me your first eleven is nowhere near bad enough for you to go down.

Do you think it was an improvement on your previous form this season? At least you seemed to have a little attacking impetus. We only seem to have that impetus when chasing the game or against ten men. Everton and Fulham there were signs of a change... today we reverted to type. Johnson and Colback were shocking.
