  1. We're currently drowning in the bad. Being tossed a scrap, now and then, is nothing to celebrate.
  2. Win, lose or draw, he'll be using his post match interview to sell himself to prospective employers.
  3. They will. It's just the bookies maximising their profits.
  4. It's a lovely idea, and if he had a modern day Fazackerley to help him tactically, we'd avoid relegation for sure. But I think that ship has sailed with Bruce taking the Spurs game. New set-up announced on Monday and go from there.
  5. Meh. Disappointing but understandable, and probably the right decision. If the players know he's a dead man walking they might pull a performance out of their arses. Nothing is going to dampen my satisfaction that Ashley has gone.
  6. I was kind of the same, not gutted but slightly underwhelmed, but Keegan had wanted him for a long time and there was no reason to doubt Keegan.
  7. But a very short time until the sweetness washes over. It's going to be weirder than it ever was.
  8. Yes but look at our infrastructure. We're light years behind Burnley. All I'm saying is that they are not concerned about losing to Spurs, because they've looked at the business and the facts don't lie. Truth is, we could beat them, and getting rid of Bruce would make that more likely. Precisely what I'm comparing to. Hall was a businessman but his first decision was an emotional one. We're unlikely to strike it lucky with a manager who can lift the place like Keegan did, but getting rid of Bruce could have a similar impact. But longer short term, does it leave us in a better position to beat Palace, arguably the more important fixture, next week? Probably not.
  9. These people think they can go and spend £300 million on a football club and be successful, despite appearing to have little knowledge about footballing matters. This explains why Bruce is still here. We might be richer than Spurs but none of it is invested. Spurs are currently richer than us = they will beat us. They're looking longer down the line.
  10. I find it a bit weird that some people don't give a shit about our new owners' history, but are aghast at the thought of fans flying the flag of Saudi Arabia to welcome them.
  11. In fairness, you haven't been at the club, assessing the situation, since last Friday. So nobody can expect you to.
  12. Don't think so. I'm sure managers have ben sacked after a victory in the past.
  13. This is my third takeover and the two previous were as opposite as you can get. Haven't got a clue what to expect from this one.
  14. Good point. Bruce will be peddling his 'insider info' to the highest bidder, once he's gone.
  15. Any who had the sense to do that would have the sense to go somewhere with adequate facilities.
  16. Maybe they've given them the day off because they're sacking Bruce today. Here's hoping.
  17. Just buy up Leazes arcade [evicting the miserable bastards that live there] and incorporate it's historic significance into the design.
  18. I'd sack him, and have him escorted from the stadium, 10 seconds before he is expected to collect his award for 1000 games.
  19. I think this thread is invaluable. And we need to keep it civil. I don't believe anybody that states they don't care. I think if they bothered to have a conversation with themselves they'd find they do care. Stating you don't care who our owners are, or acknowledging that you feel powerless is perfectly acceptable, but are we? Only if we continue to pretend we don't care. This might be a business partnership between the wealthy elites of two cultures which appear to clash, but it can also be a partnership between the two groups of dissatisfied people that are mostly effected by these global deals. It's a very sensitive situation and I think once the excitement settles everybody will be more thoughtful. We are at the heart of a wonderful opportunity let's not spoil it. I've got no interest in dictating to anybody as I think, for the majority, it is unnecessary.
  20. Maybe a new stadium, but keep St James' for the lasses team.
  21. As long as they keep the St. James' Park bit I'm not too bothered about sponsorship. I mean I was 30 odd years ago when the league cup was discussed, but they promised the FA cup would never go the same way. Can't really do anything other than boycott the companies that choose to sponsor these things. They're generally shit companies anyway. Boycotting Bud and Carling was never really a conscious decision I had to make. Milk was tricky though.
  22. I didn't realise he'd been at Rangers for 4 years. Appreciate the info. Can't help wondering if the drop in performance levels indicate a desire for a fresh challenge, and whilst that might be a good chance to sign him, might also suggest an inability to maintain his desire.
