  1. Bloody hell, I'd kill for that calibre of player this window. Bracewell and Venison were both title winners and were only 30 and 28 respectively. Beresford looked a great prospect and Lee who we signed after the season started became an established England player. Those signings were pretty much inspired at the time. They turned out to be brilliant signings, but I don't remember being more confident of promotion back then than I am now. Ritchie could prove to be as good as Rob Lee. Diame, could be Bracewell, wishful thinking? Hayden has mpre potential than Beresford. Games could be just like Venison. Weve also added more depth, which was admittedly needed.
  2. We need to be fearless going into this. It could all come together for the first time on Saturday. Here's hoping. 1-2 concede early but keep our heads up and win quite comfortably in the end.
  3. In 92 we signed Bracewell, Lee and Bereford, along with Barry Venison. They weren't particularly exciting signings at the time but they did the job.
  4. I'm not dismissing that, I hadn't considered it. I just think he needs action at a higher level than we can offer. I hope he will be back in a year, and you will be proved right.
  5. Then we potentially have lost out on millions or a quality motivated player as his replacement that the risk. There has been no bids apparently but maybe we could of got 20m for him. That would get us a couple of quality players who want to be here. That's far better than having Sissoko sulking on the sidelines No risk keeping him till January. Clubs will always pay more in January. Or is that just an old wives tale? Like if the wind changes, your face will stay like that.
  6. The wages saved on De jong probably mean this is effectively a free transfer. Still like to see somebody else but this looks like it could be a god bit of business.
  7. Hopefully. With Darlow and Sels there ain't much use of him anymore. If we get a decent fee then hopefully that means we reinvest in other areas of the pitch quickly. Except he's our best keeper by a mile. No argument on that score, but he's too good for the championship. A season at Ajax, European Football, et al will do him good. And if we are promoted will have a ready made top keeper to replace Sels, who at the moment doesn't look good enough for the prem. After watching that vid of Judge it is clear that the keepers in this league aren't top notch. so I don't think we need that extra that he would give us. I don't know who Ajax have in defence, but if they are good defenders it could help Krul develop his ability to command his area. If a keeper plays with idiots in defence, they will not carry out his instructions as intended which will over time make him question the instructions he is giving. If that makes any sense.
  8. Would we know if we did? We could sign the next Messi and the radio commentary would have us believing we'd signed the next Pat Heard.
  9. Watching those highlights has given me a bit of hope that things are coming together. There were one or two moments of real quality, I thought. Once we shake off the nerves we could be a force to be reckoned with, in this division. Looking forward to the Brighton game, if only because I won't have to listen to Ando and Lowes. They suck all the enjoyment out of football.
  10. Completely agree. Now he is an experienced kid, and I'm sure he has learnt from that experience. Still shouldn't be expecting too much of him though. 15 goals will do for me.
  11. Happy with this. He could have done a Given and dumped the club, I think he has earned the right to play at the top level and I'm relieved we have the opportunity to bring him back when we are a top club again.
