Far from ignoring your point, I made reference to the fact in an earlier post that the club needs to review the system… this new one continues to reward those who have the maximum points and who have ‘potentially’ bought and passed tickets on previously.. whilst it also provides some reward for folk who previously didn’t go for various reasons ie age, circumstance or simply couldn’t be arsed cos we were shit etc. but it does need thought and could get buy in from key stakeholders like NUST and NUSC… unfortunately they’ve just implemented another system in a similar way to the membership scheme without much thought, meaning 2-300 tickets are no longer available for regular attendees.. and just to clarify my son started to accumulate points 7 years ago by going to friendlies, cup games, night games etc… he learned from an early age that if he wanted to attend when things got better he’d need to put the hard work in first… after all we all knew the ‘loyalty’ rules which were never an issue until people started pissing their pants recently…

No one is criticising fans… those who stopped going made a choice… a bit like those who stopped going during the McKeag years and those who choose not to go now…

if you’ve had a season ticket for a few years there were numerous opportunities to get on the ladder…

Between the age of 7 and 15 he’s been to almost 60 games…forged new friendships, met great new mates, things I experienced and remember well from back in the day.. loads of matches sell out on 100 points so unless he uses someone else’s ticket he’s missed out… he went to those he was able to.

But what about all the ones who haven’t taken advantage.. My 15 year old lad has built up approx 60 points over 7 years going to away games when the points drop.. there’s a big possibility he’ll miss out if the points threshold increases to accommodate a few hundred who have now decided they fancy an away trip… and when they had every opportunity to build points over the last few seasons… Maybe they should spend a season cracking down on this before implementing a ballot… after all, they are ‘loyalty’ points…

Away ticket situation needs to be addressed too…. Setting aside a number of tickets for ballot will no doubt see the “loyalty” cut off point increasing from 60 points to 80 for most matches before they sell out…. Doesn’t sit right with me….

Thing with Boro is dead simple… They’re desperate to be hated by someone but the truth is, nobody really does.. Up north, we’re too busy with Sunderland and vice versa so they have to turn their attentions down south… Unfortunately Leeds are too focussed on Man U to even consider Boro…. and I suppose even Darlington and Hartlepool were too pre occupied with each other to worry about them.. So unfortunately for our friends from North Yorkshire, they are stuck in no man’s land without a true rival… and are seen as no more than an irritant albeit on different scales to different folk..

Sitting 3rd in the Premier and a kick in the arse off a cup final, my cup tends to be half full at the minute… Is Gordon better than Fraser, Ritchie and Murphy, in my opinion yes… Is he better than Almiron under Bruce, yes… Does he have the potential to be as good as or better than Almiron now, again yes… potentially…. The club does need to play by FFP rules and will mention it, I’ve no problem with that… but if they decided the figures work and Eddie wants the player and believes he’ll improve the squad then that’ll do for me… some transfers work, others don’t… I’m just going to enjoy the ride…

Maybe, just maybe we’ve bought a player that Eddie really wants…. whether it was £20m, £40m or £60m, if the club can afford it and can make the deal happen that’s fine with me.. I’m more concerned with improving the squad over the long term which is what he’s doing, than worrying about bank balances. Im pretty sure the club have a team of experts who are highly paid and more than qualified to do that job…

Great signing this one… is he better than what we’ve got in the overall squad, definitely…. Remember when we signed Joey Barton, no one had more baggage than him and he ended up quite popular didn’t he… Gordon will be one of those players you love to have in your own team but can’t stand him playing against you… Things just keep getting better at this club… Howay the Lads!!!!!!!

Great business this…. Wood did a job for us last season, we stayed up and we’ve kicked on much more than we could have hoped for this season… In previous years we would have held onto him until his contract ran out whether he was in the starting line up or not… so he leaves with only good wishes and the best of luck… it’s now a case of buying better than what we’ve currently got and that includes every player in the squad, not just Wood… This is ownership we can really trust and we know every decision they make is simply for this club and team to be more competitive and win trophies… Exciting times ahead…..

This thread is still going strong and has to be one of the all time classics, even for RTG standards, I kid you not…. The amount of absolute shite being typed is comedy gold… Even that infamous, Chelsea hardman and hooligan makes a guest appearance ‘Jason Marriner in peyce’.. As the thread gathers momentum Skylon, Lumber and Rubberface have morphed into Bexy, The Yeti and Bovver whilst elsewhere internal battles are raging between the Vauxies and Casualties… All the cliches are readily available for your perusal… ‘they got slapped’, ‘too many polis’, ‘we stood our ground’. A personal favourite of mine was the 10 v 200 standoff. This was later reduced to 8 by someone ‘in the know’ so not sure where the other 2 went… it’s bullshit bingo at its finest.. This also provides a fascinating insight into these lunatics as you can also start to guess the age which is rather amusing… Notably there’s very few RTG contributors condemning such behaviour which disappoints me somewhat, considering they are after all the classiest fans in the country… aren’t they?

A strange bunch indeed… They hate ‘Washington Mags’ and ‘Durham Mags’ yet happily accept Northumbrian Mackems… They hate everything about our fine city yet choose to live and work here… They all have ‘Mag at work’ colleagues who talk shite (unless these stories are made up of course to drive RTG fewm ?) Everybody they meet either on holiday or from various parts of the country hates us with a passion yet loves them.. personally never encountered any such folk but it must be true… ‘Mag mates’ can be decent lads as long as they don’t talk about football… They mock attendances, match atmospheres and displays which are far superior to their own… And now they appear to be placing bets on us winning the cup to achieve some kind of psychological balance if we do… so glad I’m not one of them….

the fans of massive lads are all fighting amongst themselves now… alliances are being formed and friendships forever broken… RTG is a hostile place as we speak… so let’s take a look at who we’ve got… 1) a good number (and on the increase) that freely admit all this outrage is only about us and no one gave a monkeys chuff about human rights previously 2) those that think the match probably shouldn’t have been arranged but wtf, just crack on anyway 3) a number that feel compromised ie not really arsed but desperate to save face for fear of sounding hypocritical 4) those with strong feelings against all things Saudi.. 5) and then we have the regular mob who have completely lost the plot and are having a total meltdown ie Skylon who’s new Sunderland sportswash thread has been brilliantly ridiculed by his own…. Quality thread called ‘South Stand Muppets’…. It starts with someone criticising their own fans… which is somewhat strange as I understood they all had far more class than every other club in the whole wide world… By page 16 however things have taken a turn for the worse and 2 of them are gearing up for a punch up… Need to have your wits about you as its getting proper naughty over there and I don’t even think the Sunderland Yoof are involved yet… Fuck that I ain’t hanging around…I’m getting out of there quick…

As far as I can recall, I’ve never thrown a gay person off a building. I’ve never stoned someone, be headed anyone or laid one finger on a Yemeni child… I’ve also never sang a song in support of George Ormond… And for these reasons I like to think my conscience is pretty clear.. Now correct me if I’m wrong but I’m sure hundreds if not thousands of their fans, on more than one occasion, chanted in support of Johnson, irrespective of whether he’d been charged or not, but fully understanding what he was actually in the frame for… and therefore taking the piss out of some poor girl who incidentally was one of their young fans… I simply can’t get my head around the moral hypocrisy of that gang of RTG idiots…. it really does beggar belief…
