The club is going to be relegated next season without a doubt. Newcastle won't have Rondon and Perez next season and reading some of the players statements on Benitez leaving they will be very dispirited. Even though Benitez did a very good job it was a struggle to keep Newcastle up the last 2 seasons. I don't think any other manager could get this squad of players to beat Man City thats how good Benitez is.

I expected Benitez to leave for weeks now, but its still disappointing to see him leave like this. Even though the last 2 years have been tough to watch I still have lots of great memories of the Benitez era. The football may not have been to everyones tastes, but it was nice to see a manager implement a coherent plan and bring some respectability back to the club again. If its true Ashley pulled the plug on more contract talks and released that club statement behind Benitez's back then it just further justifies Benitez's decision not to renew his contract. Ashley could have let Benitez go amicabaly, but decided to stab Benitez in the back one last time. After all Benitez has done for this club he deserved a lot more respect. I'm not sure I can follow this club anymore or at least dedicate my free time watching matches on a laptop anymore. I think I might focus on my rugby and GAA teams because at least its enjoyable if not always successful.

If they are searching for a new manager then that surely confirms the takeover is dead. I can't imagine any new owner will want to deal with Monk's 5 year contract.

I thought Lee Ryder said there have been no bids yet.

Probably works for CaughtOffside.com.

I really think the Bin Zayed Group will pull out if this drags out for a couple more weeks if little to no progress is made. Not a wise £350 million investment if you don't have a transfer window to protect it. https://twitter.com/MsiDouglas/status/1142758719710781440

Good player but very injury prone at a young age Should fit in at Arsenal then.

Fenerbahce are over £500 million in debt.

Has it ever happened in previous takeovers where the current owner is in the process of selling the club, but still appoints a new manager. If the Bin Zayed Group are confident they will complete this takeover I can't imagine they would be happy having a manager they don't want on a lengthy contract.

Luke Edwards feels Benitez hasn't comprimised enough, but where have the club comprimised to meet Benitez half way. Competitive budget - No. Increase Wage bill - Maybe. Upgrade training facilities - No. Upgrade academy - No. Sign and sell players quicker - No. Sign more experienced players - No. Ambition - No. Even if all of Benitez's transfer targets met the clubs preferred player profile they would still haggle over prices and drag their heels for weeks until the likes of Watford swoop in to take the player from under the clubs noses. The club have made zero attempt to show they value Benitez and we saw what happened last summer that there is no reason for Benitez to put his trust in them. As for Benitez harming Newcastle's pre season preparations well thats the clubs problem. They could have set a deadline weeks ago and if things couldn't be agreed with Benitez then let him leave for free so they had the time to find a replacement instead of trying to win a starring contest with their manager. The irony the club are even bothered preparing for something in adequate time when Benitez has pleaded with the club since promotion to do things more swiftly has fallen on deaf ears.

Kieran Tierney close to joining Arsenal.

De Telegraaf reporting De Ligt close to signing for Juventus.

Assuming the Bin Zayed Group are the favourites to take over the club its possible they won't give Benitez the control he wants either. They will likely bring in a director of football, Midhat Kidwai will likely have some power and it wouldn't surprise me either if they want to retain the policy of signing players under 26 years old because its the sort of policy most clubs follow these days although maybe less rigid with it like Ashley. Benitez would like a takeover to happen, but I doubt he would sign a new contract until he got the opportunity to the new owners if we get new owners.
-
Its not that I doubt what you have been told, but we would have heard from the Italian media if Benitez did turn down Juventus.
-
I wonder if there is a possibility that whoever buys the club only has a majority stake for example like 70% of the club. Then they gradually increase their stake in the club until they have full control. That's what happened for Everton and Southampton in their takeovers.
-
And so he should be. Unless Ashley sells up he's wasting his time here, sadly. I want him to leave at this stage. Benitez staying just gives the illusion that the club is functioning well. I hope he doesn't go to China though and waits for a decent opportunity to come around. It doesn't mean much, but when Liverpool sacked Benitez they got take over a few months later year so hopefully the same happens for us.

I don't think its right teams having to play in that heat. Players are surely going to get heat stroke running around in those temperatures.

I don't see them anywhere anymore.

If thats the case I just don't see how this takeover gets done before the end of July never mind the end of June. Anyway back on topic Jaffa Cakes are lovely.

I'm fairly sure Ronaldo hates Benitez so not sure if I believe that.
-
Give it to England or a joint host like Holland and Belgium.
-
But it is out there. There are multiple reports in the last few weeks saying he isn't happy with the contract offer.
-
The article was written by Coverdale. He also says Benitez has had no contact from the Bin Zayed Group so he is not going to sign a new contract in the blind hope the takeover might happen. I really don't think Benitez's silence really means anything, I just think he feels leaking anything is a wasted effort to pressure the club to do the right thing.
-
I was torn between voting the 1st or 4th option, but went with the first option because its hard not to shake the feeling Ashley will fuck up the takeover. That said I'm still more optimistic of a takeover happening than Benitez signing a new contract.
