We have seen this game before from Ashley if nobody meets his unreasonable demands then smear them in the press by saying they don't have the backing to meet his price. I don't like how this is playing out now. My thoughts entirely. But he's not doing this, how does the tweet above indicate in anyway that Ashley is saying they don't have the backing to meet his price? Their sources are obviously in and around the club or Ashley. He maybe making no comment officially but is he passing info to sources that tell the press? Again I'll ask how does that tweet indicate Ashley saying they don't have the backing to meet the price? No official word has come from Ashley or the club and until they do we can only go on the official information which has been released from the group, that a company has been created, that Ashley has shut down several companies and it looks like the signs have actully started being taken down. The media have been virtually silent these last few days as they don't know what is going on. Typical fans hear nothing for a few days and doom and gloom (I am suprised by you mind as you have been pretty much saying the same all the way through). I'm convinced we will get official word either this week or next. I’m trying to stay positive I just don’t understand how all the local and some national journalists are saying the same things and there being no truth to it. They can’t all be guessing. If it was a concrete fact that proof of funds were submitted it’d be 99% certain it was happening. Where theres smoke theres fire.

Its not helping when the Bin Zayed Group and the media in Dubai are so certain its going to happen.

Because I have seen it with previous takeovers and when he is at loggerheads with Benitez. This is like the 5th time he has apparently been serious about selling the club yet the finger is always pointed at the buying side when the takeover fails.

I don't expect the club to ever release a statement, but they really need to now. There is so much uncertainty at the club and many conflicting reports in the media that nobody knows where they stand. It says a lot when prospective new owners have communicated better with the fans than Ashley himself. The Bin Zayed Group are going to be humiliated after releasing those optimistic statements if this takeover falls apart.

Ruben Dias who played last night is supposed to be decent, but I guess they need another centre back to partner him.

That article just seems like because nothing has been played out in public since the Bin Zayed Group released their statements then it must mean no progress has been made. That new company that was formed or whatever it was last week seemed significant. Whether the takeover happens or not I don't expect big news until the end of June.

I don't think Ashley will buy another football club, but if he did I could see him buying Coventry or Charlton Athletic.

I read an article from Chris Waugh saying the Bin Zayed Group still have to provide proof of funds. I don't know why this line keeps pushed they released a statement saying they provided proof of funds on a specific date I don't know why they would make that up. The club haven't come out to dispute anything they have said so I can only assume the Bin Zayed Group's statements were true. They are the only ones to try and provide some clarity on the takeover situation yet they are being the ones accused of being liars.

It was reported last week that the takeover wouldn't influence his decision.

How on earth is he supposed to make a decision when he doesn't know who the f***ing owner will be? So then why did he turn down those other jobs?

So whos choice is it to sell him? We all know Benitez only sells players unless he can get a replacement signed, but with his contract situation I doubt the club will be making signings.

I don't know what is taking him so long to make up his mind if he wants to sign a new contract. The club have made him an offer even if it is more of the same about 2 weeks ago I don't know what he is has to consider. He has also apparently turned down Roma and Marseilles during his time so I don't really know why he is taking so long to make his decision. This isn't meant to be an attack on Benitez, but the only reason I could think of for him delaying his decision is if the Bin Zayed Group have made contact with him, but that seems far fetched.

That is a shite move for him. He would be better off staying at Ajax.
