That gasp at the end of the video.

I think a better compromise would be Benitez is only allowed to sign one experienced like Rondon every summer, but is given a budget of £60 million to spend.
-
Hopefully Bayern Munich and Lyon win.

That same dire squad reached the World Cup semi finals last summer and finished top of a Nations League group involving Spain and Croatia. One of the things I like about international football is that you don't need world class players in every position as long as you have a few talented players like Kane and Sterling and a system of playing you can be successful.

Some footballers are just going to have no rest at all. Stop treating them like robots.

According to Lee Ryder getting in a loan manager for the academy is one of the changes Benitez wanted in the academy so perhaps a step in the right direction. There is still a lot to do to convince him to stay.
-
They lost Goretzha and Meyer in the summer however, considering they are in the top 20 richest clubs in the world they should be able to compete at the top of Bundesliga like Dortmund do.
-
Penalty to Juventus.
-
Kean should have scored.

Everybody loves an underdog.

ffs. POTENTIAL record-breaking. that means £6m up front and then £10m in add-ons over the next 6 years depending on appearances, goals and reaching the champions league. so could have technically been tru but really absolute bullshit. Remember all those reports saying that the club didn't want to spend big because they wanted to save the money for the next manager if Benitez leaves so why were they lining up deals for Benitez didn't want and not knowing the next manager if Benitez leaves will want them or not?
-
I'm not sure it would work out because Liverpool also have a strategy of signing young players with resale value. I think Benitez's time at the very big clubs is over he just won't get the control that he wants.
-
I don't know why people assumed Atletico Madrid had it in the bag after the first leg result. A 2-0 first leg lead is nothing especially when a very good team like Juventus have to turn it around.
-
I don't think Liverpool would want him.

I have no problem with the club wanting to sign young players with resale value because most clubs have this strategy with clubs like Spurs and Dortmund having great success with this. However, there simply has to be flexibility especially when you look how well Rondon has done this with 8 goals and 5 assists that should be an easy deal because it makes football sense. Benitez has even said himself he has no problem working with young players, but they need to be his players and not shoving signings in his direction. We tried that with Thauvin under McClaren and it was a disaster. Thauvin is a very good player, but you are never going to get the full potential of a young player if he doesn't fit in with how the manager wants to play. I don't believe Ashley wants to follow the Arsenal model under Wenger if he did then he should have no problem listening to Benitez's ideas regarding the academy. If Ashley wants to sign young players around the globe then you have to put money into the scouting system and pay the money required to sign the best young talent. I remember when we wanted to sign Aubameyang and Lacazette, but we wouldn't pay the money for them so they went elsewhere and have went on to be sold for big money. You can players like Perez for a bargain, but its rare these days such deals turn out to be a big success. If Ashley wants to follow the Arsenal model then fine, but its never going to work if Benitez or any other manager have a say on who they sign.

Who the f*** are offthepitch.com? Its written by Martin Hardy so there is probably some truth to it.

It wasn't though. His first contract was three and a half years. His first proper match.
-
Benitez's first match as permanent Newcastle manager was away to Fulham in the Championship and his last match will likely be away to Fulham last match of the season. I think there is a chance he will stay, but based on that narrative I think he will leave.
-
Has he been getting fashion advice from Ashley?
-
Did Allardyce just complain about other managers not playing entertaining football?

First Joelinton and now Zaniolo we are going to have a great team next season. From the Chronicle.
-
If they are planning to make changes to the academy in the summer then they might as well listen to Benitez's ideas. From the Chronicle.

Despite their good form under Solskjaer it must be demoralising to only be 5th in the league and could easily be 6th if Chelsea win their game in hand against Brighton. I think Arsenal and Man United will finish in the top 4 because they are both in form and have the easier fixtures.

Pochettino has said a lot of strange things this season. He is talking down Spurs like Pardew used to talk down us. He is not exactly encouraging the likes of Kane and Alli to stay at Spurs long term.
