I heard he's got contact's with a firm who can take them apart brick by brick and move them somewhere else... sorry, wrong thread.

Maybe bridges weren't his thing, but a trip to Beamish convinced him to sign.

11-12? Not sure top four was being played for but title and relegation was.

What year was it that Arsenal came to us final day, and celebrated taking 4th like they'd won the league?

  3. My dentist (near Seattle) took on another dentist recently, and their intro email would be so triggering:

While I have met a handful of you, there are many more I am eager to meet. Those that I have met, I have been made to feel very welcomed and for that I am grateful. This letter is a simple “hello” allowing an introduction to myself.
I usually will present myself as Dr Nader; my last name is a slight tongue twister so I’ll save us all the trouble there. My name has Arabic roots since my parents are from Syria. I was born in Michigan, however at a young age we moved overseas. I spent my youth and early teens in Saudi Arabia before moving back to Ann Arbor. While I still prefer the Maize & Blue as a color scheme, I am slowly adopting the Purple & Gold.
I’ve been part of the dental profession for over 5 years now, following the footsteps of my mother who is a dentist as well. She played a large part in guiding me towards where I am today and both my parents’ morals and ethics are deeply instilled in how I practice dentistry. Being hand selected by Dr Davis, you can expect the same high quality of work with the proper bedside manner. I assure you that my primary goal is to make each appointment a memorable and meaningful one. That being said, at your next visit don’t mind the terrible jokes or out of tune humming to the music being played when we meet.
Outside of the dental chair, you’ll find me exploring all this beautiful state has to offer! Safe to say I have become an avid hiker, and I am always up for suggestions. If I’m not hiking or trail running, I’ll usually be playing soccer if my knees allow it. I am an avid Newcastle United fan, although they don’t win many games. Farmer markets bring me much joy, mostly for the selection of pastries and treats. My yelp account is always active in search for new restaurants to try, although I have improved my at home cooking. Like most, traveling the world is a highlight of each year, and while it’s been a couple of years, I am thrilled to get my passport out. Slovenia is next of my list.

Can't believe he didn't mention it in person when I saw him last week (email came a couple of days later) and he asked where I was from.

But also noticed when Trippier was warming up 2nd half, Arsenal had a flurry of 2 or 3 corners and Trippier clearly stood in line with the box, but marshalling and organising from the touchline. Just brilliant. Not even on the pitch, but being an influence. Give him the armband next season.

It was excellent to see. No doubt they'll try to ban it as an extension of the coaches' box.

The credit must go to one of the lads (Andrew) who developed a whole stadium plan on Excel. It's not perfect but it's 80% and enough to gauge. Absolute hero.

I don't work on Office (I work on the Windows kernel), but I'd love to try and get them to reach out if that is ok. Incredible unexpected usage of Excel.

    Stunning work everyone.

It's spoiling the game. There are reasons why Football is more popular than Olympic Triple Jump. The business of football is spectacle, and VAR is shit entertainment. It's human competition, not an algorithmic process for establishing who is the superior athlete.

Didn't expect to find any Jonathan Edwards bashing oh here

Brighton looked very fit. Their high press was very effective, but it's what happens at both ends of the pitch that counts.

Their goal should not have stood. A Brighton player backed into Dubravka and had hold of him by the arm. A more vigorous protest might have led to a VAR reversal.

I didn't notice that, but their player was offside (but not flagged in case he scores) and then won the corner which they score from. Hate that.

    FWIW I don’t think he meant that…

That's what MotD said in their reply when I wrote to them to ask why it wasn't goal of the month :)

Closer to a haiku than a song, but points for the effort.

  10. Do any of the stat providers track "ice hockey" assists? He has been hammered for not getting enough assists, but the number of times the assist came from someone he set through seems off the charts.

  11. Trouble is some of our players don't seem like they want to show themselves to receive the throw in. They have a bit of space then turn their back like saying don't give it to me

There were times yesterday that Almiron busted his gut to make space, and he wouldn't throw to him.

  12. With whatever hope I have for them, maybe he learned something hanging around Marseille for so long. Completely different, but a rich kid after a plaything was the final nail for TVR.

  13. Sitting in the playoffs right now, have a feeling they'll go up if COVID doesn't cancel the season or club bankruptcy.

Those fans from Gateshead showing the way, climbing the football ladder.
