Terrible players who become Messi/Ronaldo incarnate when playing us
Kid Icarus replied to gjohnson's topic in Football
I'd take any opportunity to criticise Souness, but that was genuinely one of the most bizarre games I've ever seen. Dominated and created chance after chance in a 4-1 loss. -
Every world class player during the Messi Ronaldo era will be posted in the 2032 (if we make it) version of this thread
-
Think he's one of those that get called underrated so often that they're not underrated
-
The biggest one in my lifetime for me - Rui Costa. Absolutely class player who never got anywhere near enough credit imo.

Aye. Coded by an Inter Milan fan. Martins 99 acceleration and 99 top speed. Adriano was class before he fell off for fair enough reasons though.

Here's one for the grandads Jared Borgetti Unreal goalscoring record and often talked about in the same breath as someone like Martin Palermo before he went to Bolton and turned out to be not all that good.
-
My bullshit theory is that his reputation grew based on him being absolutely class in Fifa
-
Other way around for me, really good player who the Madrid fans apparently have a lot of time for because he was good for them.
-
I feel like a lot of the best players in the world around the turn of the century were a level below the players before or since, so I think the likes of Nedved, Davids, Khan, Owen, Raul, Morientes, Casillas could all be seen as a bit overrated in hindsight.
-
Trent Alexander-Arnold plays in a way I've never ever seen from a right back. Could be unique to him or something that's brought in by other teams, but he's basically a David Beckham who plays right back.
-
Shane Long used to have Coloccini's life, it was horrible.
-
There's your answer, that's the invitation for people to say he's overrated.
-
He's the England/Club performance yang to Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw's yin.
-
I've often seen him mentioned as having everything, the best forward we've had since Shearer, in the Mike Ashley XI, that sort of thing. All fair enough like, he just never struck me as being that impressive, I was just much more into Carroll or Remy.
-
All relative to the level they're rated at though innit.
-
Controversial maybe, but I think Ba is overrated among Newcastle fans. A good all-rounder, but I never thought he was as amazing as some talk about him.
-
Excellent shout. Seen him in so many all time Newcastle XIs that also feature players who either played at the same time as or before Rob Lee or Gary Speed.
