I've only seen it said with a straight face. I think everyone with any experience of Man United's fanbase over the years knows that even when it's tongue in cheek, it's also still what the majority actually believe. I'll admit that it's only online that I've seen it, but it's not just Twitter, it's everywhere.

The whole pull thing is dying arrogance grabbing one of the security blankets it has left. No pull if it's not also paired with good money. It's irritating to watch the arrogance of an entire fanbase activate like, but hopefully it's just another stage of grief, pride before another fall, and that things keep getting worse.

Another one who still thinks it's the early 2000s.

Is he actually any good anymore? Can't remember the last time I saw him play well.

The asics ones were even worse. It was like they were made out of cactus.

Not saying owt new like, but outside of some of the self-employed, footballers are pretty much the only workers I can think of who get anywhere near fairly compensated for the wealth they create like. Proper typical of human nature that instead of everyone else banding together and demanding that for themselves, they instead just don't want footballers to have it.

Think it'll just be that the top squads end up like Chelsea's. Nothing except protests like we saw when they tried to do the ESL will stop capitalism's inherent need to ruin everything.

Is Hyde Park a joke to you?

Anyone know what happened with Nico Gonzalez since he went to Juve? Was really interested in him when we were linked and he was at Fiorentina, but it seems like he hasn't done well at Juve judging on the amount of appearances

My issue with Sancho isn't even really whether he's a dickhead or not tbh, it's that he's not very good. He's like the anti-Arjen Robben, you know exactly what he's going to do but you can do anything about it.

It's been mentioned separately many times with people who apparently have sources in the club.

U21s just started if you want to do some scouting

The Managerial Merry Go Round™ - Frank in at Tottenham
Kid Icarus replied to cp40's topic in Football
Think Parker geta too much flack tbh. He's only at the start of his managerial career, with a lot still to learn, and he's already achieved a canny bit. -
We should be collectively banding together against this absolute horseshit, but it seems like all is happening is that it's creating groups of people buying into it along tribal lines.

Saw a TikTok back and forth a while back where a Mackem was just picking and choosing when something was classed as County Durham or not depending on their love for gerrymarrading. Blaydon? Not Newcastle, was part of County Durham. Washington? Nah that's Sunderland. Wallsend? Traditionally that's County Durham marra. Sunderland itself? Nah, was never part of County Durham, that's Sunderland.

He's absolute fucking garbage like. The high-end personification of all fart and no shite.

WTF, is that how much the tracksuit tops are going for now? Might have to sell mine like, that's insane.

Pardew was the chief PR for the zombie club, Ashley the architect. If Ashley was the cancer, Pardew was the day to day symptoms. Pardew was the peak era of the zombification of our fanbase too. Under everyone else under Ashley the fanbase could see what needed to change and were vocal about it. Pardew was fucking Goebbels for Ashley, giving us a hellish purgatory and telling us it was heaven. And huge parts of the fanbase didn't just lap it up, they defended him. The bloke is a cunt, he ran with the hare and hunted with the hounds. Pretending his hands were tied and that he couldn't possibly do more under a repressive owner on one side of his mouth, then using the other side to tell us we should be thanking Ashley. Cunt. Souness for all his faults had a backbone and believed in trying to be successful. Outside of football you hear a lot about his decency too. Dalglish dismantled the best squad this side of Howe's, but again, wanted to succeed and did succeed elsewhere. Again, stories about his decency outside of football. Pardew was here as the face for and a knowing participant in Ashley's project to make this a pauper club he could peddle his tat through. Both had zero interest in any definition of success as we widely know it. Acting like the club was worthy of nothing, had never achieved anything, and now we should say thank you for it. And so many adopted that mindset through him, it was unbelievable. He had a lot of our fanbase under a spell that only broke when he left. He completely changed the perception I had of our fanbase as one that was zero bullshit, wouldn't accept chancers, and that would force the likes of him and Ashley out through collective action. By 2014 my perception of our fanbase couldn't have been more wrong or any lower. Stabbing Hughton in the back, peddling out our players, lying, nutting opposition players, calling managers cunts, jobs for the boys, Pardewing players, terrible football, terrible results, excuses, openly insulting the fans. The response for the most part? 5th, Ashley's the real problem, be careful what you wish for. I'm still a bit shocked by all of that 10 years later tbh. But aye, I wasn't here for Bruce so can't include him, but Pardew was Infinitely worse than Souness and Dalglish, it's not even a contest for me. Even if I conceded that they were worse, you knew with them that the intention to do better was in the pipeline if and when they failed. Pardew's relentless failure was Ashley's idea of steady success, so that was never going to happen like it would have under Shepherd.

Remember vividly sitting on a beach on holiday, literally in paradise, rage posting as we let Rafa leave and brought in Steve Bruce. It took that situation to come to fully accept that I needed to let go. Best thing that ever happened tbh, had a good couple of years of being like McNulty on the boat shift

With hindsight I think quite a lot of us were depressed.

James Trafford: NUFC in talks with Burnley over £30m transfer (Various)
Kid Icarus replied to 54's topic in Football
Pope is far too good to be a number 2, mind. Keeping him and getting him to believe in the competition aspect between him and Trafford would be more impressive than signing Trafford in the first place. -

The 'get rid of it!' quota will be met by mid August man. -
I did, it wasn't a serious reply.
