  1. Pretty poor stuff overall. We never at any point had our strongest side out but a lot of performances that will (or should) set some minor alarm bells.

I think at this point Anderson has shown he’s capable, he looked a level above ASM to be honest? On what we have currently he deserves a start.. ship Maxi over the right.

Longstaff wasn’t great, Murphy was shit, Fraser was non existent and Almiron looked incapable of creating anything. I thought we might have enough as back up to Wilson but I was way off, we desperately need some reinforcements.

Midfield and up front. We need 3 players.

Do wish Bruce hadn't managed to bin Lejeune mind. Him instead of Lascelles would be a hell of a set of 4 defenders.

I think Lascelles is an adequate back up to Schär and Burn is more than enough to cover Botman, but I suspect all will feature regularly with the 5 sub rule.

Tripps and Krafth are nailed down but I’d like Lewis to at least get a chance to play during pre season, he’s had an injury though which is why he’s not been involved as yes.

  3. Yes would like to remind everyone, the first game last season the team was blowing out their arses after 50 minutes allowing teams to steamroller us, this went on for months until Howe eventually came in and got their fitness up to scratch.

We also have a stronger squad now than we did last year, but the one that started last season should have been nowhere near the bottom of the table, not exactly top half but not bottom.. that’s how bad Steve Bruce was.

If you take results from January we are a top 8 side already and that was without Wilson for the most part.

I’m totally relaxed about who we do or don’t bring in. It’s nothing that can’t wait until January, worst case scenario.

I’m a bit concerned about Toney’s personality after seeing that video of him driving his car taking the piss out Brentford

Yeah it’s not a good look. It’s one thing a striker being cocky, Wilson is a bit and Bellamy definitely was and that’s good in some ways but to take the piss out of the place where your club is from screams total wanker and if he’s too dim to not get that anything he does or says in Public is going to be filmed and shat out on social media, that’s another red flag all on its own.

  5. So what’s his value? A year ago people would have said less than 10 million.. for me at this point I think he’s up on what the club initially paid for him.

  6. I’m really glad we didn’t go for someone smarmy like Peter Kenyon, not him but you know what I mean.

This guy speaks well and comes over as a likeable person. He’s obviously very good at his role and will be interesting to see how much we hear from him in terms of his plans, or perhaps we’ll just get press releases as the coming announcements are made.

Fair play to lad. He held out and got a dream move.

Amusing that some of our fans are suggesting it's a bad move. I hope he succeeds in snapping his leg into 1000 pieces in his debut, but let's relax.

Not interested in him in the slightest now, not our player and I hope he won’t be. There’s loads of players out there who won’t want to play for this club, that’s fine. This time last year we were scrounging around for a loan deal with Choudrey, now we’re linked with great players. The rise in our fortunes might come a little soon for some players.. but once we get into the top 6, then top 4.. attitudes will change and that arrogance from certain clubs, agents or players won’t be a thing we have to deal with.

  8. To be honest, I’m just as excited to see if Elliott Anderson will be involved, is he the real deal etc.. if he gets the backup position to ASM then great, he’ll get game time.

I think the best position we can fill is right midfield, not forward.. for value at least, if we’re more dominant in the middle, the less tracking back the likes of Fraser or Miggy would have to do so we might see more from them going forward. Or that’s the theory anyway, give them till January and then upgrade if it’s not working.

Always love seeing players, particularly former great ones drop down leagues to continue playing, shows their love of the game.

A family friend who lives in LA used to see Klinsmann playing in a local 5-a-side and then got to know him as he’d be coming into a local bar/restaurant in the early mornings to watch the premier league games.

When playing in the local side, he’d be lashing in overhead volleys and screamers from all angles and celebrating like he’d scored the winner in the World Cup final ? really good lad apparently but frugal as fuck

He’s going to take them close to relegation isn’t he?

He won’t be given that long.. be gone by end of November at the latest.. it’s exactly what he wants. Man is an absolute charlatan, all he sees is his next severance package to add his his retirement nest egg. He’ll take as many of them as he can get.

  11. At this stage, Diaby is the only one I’ll get genuinely excited by. Hope we’re really in for him as I reckon so much of the “interest” in players we do have is massively overstated.

Apart from Lascelles, Manquillo, Lewis - I doubt we get much of a fee for most of the fringe players. Lascelles isn't even a fringe player.

Should have taken that 50m off Chelsea ?

  13. I think the idea of it is far better than the reality, Messi hasn’t got much time left, Neymar isn’t wanted and Mbappe is on that retarded contract where he’ll be a poisonous influence if he chooses to be.

The club have basically said the party is over in terms of Hollywood signings.. they want locals, ideally Parisians but at the very least French players.

They paid big for a champions league and they failed, repeatedly.

I said it before, once the World Cup is done with, their interest in PSG will dissipate.

  14. Any Newcastle supporter who’s followed him on Instagram should cut him loose immediately. He’ll be back to a few thousand followers and realise the supporters of the club he’s going to don’t give two shits about him.

  15. I think the main factor in his reasoning was buying into a project that would take 3-5 years to reach the place he thinks he’s capable of right now, he thinks PSG are that club. I’m not so sure, but I, like all of you are biased so we’re hardly gonna say he made the right decision.

I’m not annoyed about it. Only want players here who want to be here.

  16. As much as i would love us to sign Paqueta, he's not going to suddenly transform our midfield into one that's dominating possession.

We need a proper defensive midfielder, yes Big Joe and Bruno can win the ball back and be progressive but that's very suited to the counter attack style.

Imho, someone to sit in the middle that has the size and mobility to just cover that space and give the others (including Willock and Shelvey) the platform to do their best work.

Shelvey in particular has not been the player we thought we were getting, he was never supposed to be someone sitting in front of the back 4.. we thought we were getting the Swansea version with lots of long range shots etc, and the truth is he hasn't really had all that much chance to be that guy because we were basically overrun in the middle over the last 5 years.

  17. I’m really not holding any grudges against players who weren’t up to speed by the time Howe had his first few games. Most of them were capable of better but had been trained poorly by Bruce and were shell shocked by mid season. Slow physically and mentally.

I think a Clark at 100% of his abilities would have been a solid 2nd/3rd choice for us before Burn came in.

He’ll do a job for one of those sides looking to get promoted. His level is definitely top end champo/bottom end PL. Which you may ridicule but still puts him ahead of 60% of every other defender in English football. He’s had a decent career.

  18. I’d say he waited to have at least a few training sessions to assess what he’d be up against and now clearly doesn’t fancy the fight. That should tell you everything about what we’ve just signed.
