  1. These rules which the “top 6” were so keen to introduce wouldn’t stand up to a legal challenge.

Its a free market and as long as a deal isn’t just blatantly taking the piss with rules for linked organisations etc, or for example the club owners funnelling money to a sponsor to be just put back in the club, we should be fine with whatever kind of deal we can get.

We’re currently way behind a number of clubs in terms of exposure and recent success so what we can get will be limited for now, we break top 6 or even top 4 and then those deals can be drastically renegotiated.

Also if it meant a massive injection of bona fide cash into the club, I wouldn’t be opposed to renaming the stadium, it would have to be done in the most minimal way possible though.

  2. If he’s not sold on the club even after the way we finished the season then it’s not footballing reasons, as in the direction of the club. Maybe he feels he won’t get enough game time.

Its coming across that he’s panicking as soon as a transfer gets close, he still is just a kid after all.

Not a chance we would've returned to him start of this window if he wasn't interested. I reckon the agent and our club have had communication going since January's approach about him signing

Yes 100%, although I don’t like hearing about agents having so much input. Remember Anelka? He had his brothers involved iirc and they burnt plenty of bridges.

I don’t think he’s was ever close to buying us thankfully.

No he wasn’t, he didn’t have the money. He also used a certain local dimwit journalist as a PR exercise to get his name out there.

This kid going to be a superstar?

He’s still very raw but he’s got bags of potential. Actually decent in the air and he’s gangly enough so that he can hold the ball up even against big defenders.

Has a tendency to do something quite good and then just give the ball away needlessly but then he’s playing in a lesser side compared to most of the teams in that league.

If he could simplify his game he could be Thierry Henry mkII

  6. One thing, the club have been very consistent in their targets. It’s why I think Botman is a goer too. This kid could literally be anything so it’s exciting because there’s no particular expectations.

  7. It’s funny the perception that some people have of him, a Chelsea supporting friend thinks he’s “a proper player”, they don’t get to see him week in week out so it’s all based off one half decent performance. Needless to say was shocked when I replied, “nah he’s a bit shite for the most part”

The most one footed player I’ve ever seen.

People are over thinking this, if Fun88 have a contract for next season they will be on the shirt.

It’s a long term strategic move, they might have to pay them compensation but it would be a small step backward to make a giant leap forward.

  9. Unless Chelsea are to be suddenly run like how Mike Ashley ran us, that write off is simply kicking the can down the road.

The club isn’t profitable enough to sustain the success it think it’s capable of achieving so they will continue to bleed money and their new American overlords will have a stroke when they see how much of their fortunes are diminishing trying to sustain it.

  10. You can make a case that Lewis hasn’t had a chance yet but where say Joelinton showed signs of talent in there, I don’t think we can say the same in his case. I can’t remember one good game that he’s had in the shirt.

You have to trust Howe but you’d really wonder what he’s seen to even consider him as an option instead of Targett

  11. The puma badge might have been on our shirts but the quality screamed “outsourced to a Sports Direct sweatshop”

I’m fairly sure there had to have been some cheaper option the club took when they signed that deal.

  12. Some players just reach a point where it’s one injury too many and next thing they’re missing more than they play, and perhaps an unwillingness to play unless they are 100%

Shearer for example had a couple of serious injuries but he was always back ahead of schedule and he never let it affect him because he was prepared to walk through walls for his club, there’s many other players who have the same ethos but an equal amount who don’t.

You look at someone like Andy Carroll, not prepared to do that and a different attitude to carrying knocks etc. Dwight Gayle was flying for us, got injured and was never quite the same. It has to be a mentality thing.

The question over DCL is which category does he fit into? The amount of time he’s missed over fairly innocuous things you’d have to question.

  13. Richarlison looked a real prospect about 2 years ago, not so good this season but the whole team stank in fairness.

He needs that diving removed from his game, it’s awful. But wouldn’t be displeased if he signed (based on nothing), needs to find his mojo again, can’t think of any better club for a player to come and enjoy their football than us right now.

I would sat Ten Hag has won the first battle in getting rid of Ralf

No way that was his call, I’d say whatever respect Ralf had when he got the job sort of ebbed away and even from his side, he knows now the club is absolutely toxic so it was probably an easy conversation to have for both parties.

Ten Haag will have to find out the hard way.

  15. Man Utd have essentially pivoted each time they’ve changed manager. Different playing style, ethos etc. They haven’t a clue who they even are at this stage.

They need someone like Ashworth even more than we do.

He agrees with the owners on the playing style and objectives, and then no matter who is managing the first team, they have to buy into that whole system in place so that there’s continuity.

Ten Haag is obviously a good manager but he’s now coming in with another ethos, another way to play and he has nobody at board level or in between to back him up when/if things don’t go well.

Mark my words, it’s going to be a disaster and will set his career back in a big way.

  16. Yeah the issue is that once Dubravka gets in the side, there’s literally nobody challenging him for the spot, Darlow just accepts his fate.

I see Eddie Howe saying to Henderson, show me why you should be no.1 and let them compete

  17. I’m not sure, I think the biggest earner was Shelvey before.. around 80k, still an obscene amount but the other lads are likely on far less, that’s well within the majority of even upper Championship level teams, never mind PL.

A lot of them can find parity in terms of wages while dropping to a more suitable level for their ability.

  18. I wonder if the hold up is anything to do with the timing of Ashworth coming in, EH might have told him yes I’d live you here but we have a committee now and everyone has to give their input etc.
