https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/19637950.newcastle-boss-steve-bruce-removed-next-48-hours/ Brendan Rodgers is regarded as a viable candidate despite his current position as manager of Leicester City, while Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is also expected to make the shortlist of contenders. Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has been considered, but the Italian is believed to have a list of requirements that could result in Newcastle’s recruitment team looking elsewhere. Lucien Favre, a former boss at Borussia Dortmund, has indicated his interest in the position, while Graham Potter and Eddie Howe have also been mentioned as potential domestic candidates with experience of managing in the Premier League.

Only way you can prove something is by doing it

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10077683/Steve-Bruce-sacked-Newcastle-manager-clubs-new-owners-week.html We understand former Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Favre is one of those under consideration, as well as Leicester's Brendan Rodgers and Rangers boss Steven Gerrard. Current assistant head coach Graeme Jones is set to be placed in temporary charge for the sell-out clash with Spurs live on television.

Where's the Zidane article, I can't find it on the Mirror. There was one last night mentioning him but that said "Zinedine Zidane’s name has also been mentioned as a possibility but there appears to be little appetite either to appoint the former Real Madrid chief to the up-coming vacancy."

Remember the consortium are very eager not to overpromise, it's better to urge caution and re-evaluate than overpromise and not deliver like Ashley did
-
Figured this hasn't been put here yet, it's from Ryder

It's crazy the rumours people are throwing around, mainly journos after a free article. Putting words into our mouths - look at the reality and we're 19th-placed Newcastle who has won no games in all competitions, who vehemently opposes the manager (roughly 19 out of 20 going off the NUST 5000 fans who voted) but with all the money in the world.

It's better than gambling for promotion and failing like the Mel Morris approach I guess. But if we weren't promoted then who knows where we'd be. Doubt we'd be back up as that plan relied on instant promotion Charnley said

We've never really been able to multitask the league and a cup and that's shown. Get to a point where we don't have to look over our shoulder for relegation and then we can go all out for a cup

Such a shame we can't have Rafa back as the consortium are being advised by his men (Mail piece) Frank McParland, former Liverpool academy director (1999 to 2013) and most recently director of recruitment at Rangers, will lead the managerial search. Premier League experience is seen as important given that, while the long-term ambition is to win trophies, the immediate priority is to avoid relegation. Owen Brown, who worked with Benitez at Liverpool and who is agent to Phil Foden, has been PCP’s football consultant and will retain an advisory role.

Just linked it 2 posts ago, Mirror

Steve Bruce’s reign as Newcastle United’s manager will end this week. The club’s new Saudi owners will axe the 60-year-old in what will be the first major decision in re-shaping the Tyneside club. A collective agreement has been reached by the hierarchy that the Magpies need a fresh direction - and the current boss will learn his fate in the next few days. - No names linked in the piece though Conte and Mancini appear "wide of the mark" and Rafa can't as Everton have him

Hardly an exclusive now but

The interview with Edwards the other day saying 'he wasn't bitter if the consortium sack him' essentially set him up for another job. Hull fans like him because he took them to the Premier League twice and made the FA Cup final, that's unprecedented for them given their history. Making a cup final would arguably change our perceptions of him but it's too late for that now Sunderland fans shouldn't like him, or not claim he's doing a good job here because he was sacked with virtually identical records a decade ago. Give or take one game the records match perfectly. Villa had the cabbage, Sheffield Wednesday had the compensation saga with us... before that Birmingham who I forget had GSB probably respect him as would Wigan. And further his loyalty really comes into question with his 5 jobs in 3 years!
-
Keep in mind it's the Chronicle who said he'd be open to it, I trust them but it's just an "intriguing option" according to them who has been discussed. Nothing concrete just yet but the next week hopefully we'll get things in place

"The Rams raid makes sense with Ashley’s Sports Direct headquarters just 30 miles from Pride Park in Shirebrook. He also wants to give his Sports Direct empire a public platform and owning Derby County would provide that." Notice the reasons he has - it's for furthering Sports Direct once the signs eventually go down here, probably for free as long as he can get away with it

Luis Campos was another linked in 2020, he's on a free now having left Lille half-way through their title-winning season. Then, he didn't want the job https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2020/luis-campos-has-rejected-an-offer-from-newcastle-wants-internal-changes-at-lille/ "A few days ago, as proof of Campos’ desire to stay, he rejected a huge and concrete offer from Newcastle United to become their Sporting Director, presumably in the upcoming Saudi regime. He politely declined, but added that he might be able to help make recruitment recommendations via his company Scoutly, so long as Lille President Lopez allowed for it."

This website exists as a collection of all the lies in one place http://nufc-ashlies.blogspot.com/

Contrast to the new consortium who are trying not to overpromise despite headlines running a league title in five too
-
And if a fan told you what it was like I'm sure they'd dismiss it because they think we expected too much of him (he came in promising the league in five years, there are headlines that showed it!) so it was the other way round if anything
-
By their standards they'd love to be where Newcastle are. 1 season in the PL (that season) in the time Ashley was here + are on the brink now. But the first thing you should do is ask people why they do or don't like something not claim lies!
