As for Moyes he probably would've been favourite if Rafa didn't approach the club

Graeme Jones is likely to remain interim manager of Newcastle United until the next international break as the various members of the consortium continue to discuss who should replace Steve Bruce. Telegraph Sport can reveal that although former Roma manager Paulo Fonseca has been interviewed and is one of the preferred candidates of the public face of the consortium, Amanda Staveley, other members are still pushing alternative candidates forward. Although Eddie Howe, Steven Gerrard and Lucien Favre have made the shortlist, with former Wigan Athletic and Everton boss Roberto Martinez’s name another to be circulated in the last few days, the one who has been featuring heavily in conversations since the start of the search is Frank Lampard. As reported by Telegraph Sport more than a fortnight ago, the former England international has always been of interest to Newcastle’s new owners and is believed to be the preferred choice of other individuals involved in the decision process. Lampard is also likely to have been spoken to in the last few days, although this has not been confirmed at this stage. There is a suggestion that the Saudi Arabians, who have a controlling 80 per cent stake in the club through the country’s Public Investment Fund, like the idea of bringing in a big-name manager like Lampard because of the pulling power he will have for players and sponsors alike. PIF will make the final decision on who replaces Bruce having listened to the recommendations of those on the ground in the UK, a process that is expected to last well into next week.

Latest from Hope https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10118099/Newcastles-Saudi-owners-consider-selling-naming-rights-St-James-Park-fans-blessing.html Newcastle's Saudi-led owners are considering plans to sell naming rights to St James’ Park —but would only do so with the consent of supporters. This comes after Saudi Arabia’s finance minister, Mohammed Al-Jadaan, spoke of the club becoming a ‘serious competitor’ in the Premier League. Sportsmail understands that a sponsorship deal involving the stadium has been discussed as one avenue of increasing revenue and, subsequently, spending power within the league’s financial fair play regulations. Supporters would also be consulted and asked if they could live with stadium sponsorship, if it meant more money coming into the club. A Saudi Arabian airline has been suggested as one option for a commercial partnership. Newcastle, meanwhile, are said to be relaxed about a temporary Premier League ban on sponsorship involving parties already connected to the ownership of a club, which was voted through by 18 of their 20 top-flight rivals at a meeting on Monday. The club believe the amendment is unlawful and should not pose a threat to their long-term commercial opportunities.

What we do have at the embargo though is a Martin Samuel piece saying why our takeover is "worse than cash from a bunch of white guys in America" - I don't fancy reading that more than the headline

Paulo Fonseca is hoping to agree a deal with Newcastle United after further talks with the Magpies today. (Chronicle ^) Sources close to the former Porto and AS Roma boss are claiming Fonseca is eager to become the next boss at St James' Park and replace Steve Bruce. Fonseca is keen to taste life in the Premier League after believing he'd netted the job at Tottenham Hotspur last summer. If the pace of the Fonseca deal continues, he could be in the stands at Crystal Palace on Saturday but the usual formalities are not sealed just yet. The Magpies have not commented publicly today but said after Bruce left a replacement would be named in "due course".

Think of Yasir as Khaldoon al-Mubarak at Man City, he's the chairman but Garry Cook and later Ferran Soriano do the day-to-day
-
Yasir won't be day-to-day, no - far too busy governing PIF and all its other investments
-
Around the 2:30 mark he says 'if people are so worried about competition then it shows there's a serious contender coming their way' (mentions it's a PIF investment and one of many, investing in the stadium the academy the team etc)

When he left Sunderland

No Oliver Holt's always been on his side though I think reading it gives a different impression https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7268389/OLIVER-HOLT-truth-Steve-Bruce-good-Newcastle-not-way-round.html 'Fans are missing the target... the truth is that Steve Bruce is too good for Newcastle, not the other way round'
