  1. No idea how reliable he is but talks still taking place apparently.
  2. In a follow up tweet he's intimated it more being about an issue over wage demands. You'd like to think if it's purely wage related we could sort it out.
  3. My enthusiasm isn't gone, still hugely exciting times and they are learning on the job so to speak. But I do agree with the second part of your post, Mark Douglas did a piece yesterday where sources close to the owners said fans will be pleased with the appointment and it'll be worth the wait. I wouldn't put Howe in to that category personally. It could still end up being Emery though, really big 24-48 hours coming up.
  4. I know people keep saying trust the process, and this isn't me being negative, but if Emery does fall through, do people not find it odd that plan A (Emery) is the polar opposite to plan B (Howe)? They have completely different footballing philosophies so it seems strange they'd be the final 2.
  5. As our "how dare you question the owners, they've only been here 5 minutes" posts. I won't post again until the new manager is announced (hopefully Emery) as people, for whatever reason, don't appear to want to discuss the rights/wrongs of the ownership. Hopefully once the manager is sorted we can get back to talking about a much brighter future.
  6. When I've raised concerns about the approach and everyone has shot me down, is it not fair that when those concerns appear to be legitimate that it gets pointed out? Let's hope the latest report is wrong and it gets sorted.
  7. It won't be true, it can't be. Everyone on here has told me they didn't bungle sacking Bruce and they know what they're doing with the new manager search. On a more serious note, it is really worrying that once again they may have told every man and his dog something is happening only for it not to end up happening. Just have to hope the deal hasn't collapsed and he signs.
  8. I know he's strong in the air but is he quick? We really need someone with pace at CB.
  9. I think I heard Craig Hope say that on talksport. We'll never know all the ins and outs but thankfully, provided the deal gets signed they've given us as good a manager as we could've hoped for.
  10. The thing is, I haven't even been critical of them about the manager search. I've praised the (upcoming) appointment of Emery but thought it could've been concluded sooner. I've criticised them over not binning off Bruce immediately, even more so after they made it public knowledge via the press that he'd be gone before Spurs which removed what little authority Bruce had left. It was a mistake, end of. It is my opinion they had a bad week or so on the basis of the above. I didn't want them to replace Bruce with anyone, it was just clear his presence was a massive hindrance. Unfortunately, Jones has gone with the same players and formations in the subsequent games. It's not bed wetting or whatever you wish to call it, just analysing the situation as I see it. If we go down by less than 3 points then keeping Bruce for that game could be the difference as Spurs was winnable. They've now got a top manager for us which is great and they deserve huge credit for it. It doesn't make you right and me wrong or vise versa. Only time will tell on that. And it's ok to have a difference of opinion without calling people clowns etc. Anyway, we're all happy now so roll on the appointment being confirmed and hopefully a change in fortunes.
  11. Almiron could benefit the most as we'll actually play a formation that incorporates his best position. I'd think Lewis will soon come back in to the side too.
  12. Clubs don't bid for players without first knowing if the player wants to join. It is the same with managers.
  13. If you don't think keeping Bruce on (after briefing every media outlet around he was going) was a mistake then you're already at the point of refusing to criticise the new owners purely on the basis they're better than Ashley. If Conte is available, you don't interview Lampard or Howe as they operate in different leagues. It's the same with Emery, he's won multiple European and domestic trophies, you don't interview managers that have promotion from the championship on their CV when he is attainable. I'm not going in to back on forths on this, they mishandled the Bruce situation, which, along with league position and performances led to people worrying about the "delay" in getting a new manager. Ultimately, they've made an exciting appointment (if it happens). Calling people out for having legitimate concerns and worries is poor.
  14. Perhaps he was available the moment Conte and Rodgers showed their hand and removed themselves from the race. In which case we could have had Emery 2 weeks ago, like you say, nobody knows. It works both ways. Great appointment, people were right to be concerned at the length of time it was taken, especially as the concerns were off the back of them bungling the sacking of Bruce.
  15. Haven't seen one person say they wanted Lampard. If you're going to dig people out at least be fair about it. Emery is a good appointment and worth the wait. Could've been done sooner imo as you work your way down the list. Conte, Rodgers and Rafa weren't interested, next on the list is Emery in terms of pedigree. Could've saved time by going for him without talking to Lampard, Howe etc given his CV is far superior. We're all delighted with Emery, no need to be digging people out over wanting it done sooner.
  16. I think he'll keep us up. But with our December fixtures I think the earliest we could get out of the bottom three would be March. It is going to such a slog this season.
  17. Be delighted with Emery. Howe would be a concern but could be worse (Lampard or Terry). It is odd that these are apparently the final 2 when their respective football philosophies are in no way aligned.
  18. Ten Hag Rafa Fonseca Emery Truth be told I'd be happy with any one of them.
  19. Everton miles off it here. Would definitely take Rafa back but part of me just wants us to go for a brave, high press manager. Caulkin saying again tonight that he's been told it's definitely not Fonseca.
  20. Absolutely this. It should be between 3 at most and if Lampard and Howe are on the list then they've f*cked it. Hopefully, the press are as clueless as us and it's nearly sorted with a suitable candidate.
  21. I just want to see Schar in for Krafth and Lewis in for Ritchie. Absolutely no reason not to make those changes.
  22. Isn't he a bit of a Benitez "light"? He'd be a good appointment imo.
  23. Spurs were terrible with no confidence. Palace walloped them 3-0 and Arsenal 3-1 in their 2 away games leading up to us. From memory everyone viewed that as a good opportunity for 3 points and yet 2-3 flattered us massively.
  24. Well, what we do know is when they came in we had 3 points from 7 games with 2 winnable games coming up (Spurs and Palace). They kept a manager failing at his job in place for the first game and we were lucky to get a point in the 2nd game. So of our 2 winnable games we won neither. The fact Jones is picking Ritchie is actually worrying me that he had a bigger say in the line up under Bruce than we thought. For the record, I'm delighted that they're hear. I just find it unfathomable that we're going to have played 4 games over the space of a month with no new manager given the mess we're in.
  25. I haven't said Jones is bad, you've just made that up. For what it's worth, Jones (who will be I'm charge at the weekend) has said himself "it needs a new voice". So for the weekend we have a "manager" in place who himself admits we need a change and yet that change is unlikely to come until the following week at the earliest. I actually think they've put undue pressure on themselves to get this right due to the amount of time taken. Let's just hope they do get it right.
