Maybe other clubs were interested but could not match the package he was getting offered in saudi?

And Mcmanaman droning on and on...

Hopefully the groin surgery has fixed his problem

Half the arsenal ground is empty.. ridiculous support when they are only two points of the title

When were you expecting them to do this?! The meeting about the atmosphere was only a couple of month ago. Any changes like that would need a safety certificate to allow the club to proceed you’d think then it’s not a job that can just be done in between games. See what happens close season.
And what about the fans who currently sit there who don't want to stand? Or they offered guaranteed seats to their liking or do they just have to give them up half way through the season for other people to move into

I remember this time last year where everyone thought Gordon was the worst buy ever....

Some stat. Could keep him on corners now and then even when Trippier is back. They were quality today. Helped by Viccario being rooted to his line.
He is absolutely relentless. What a buy.
Surely he needs to score an own goal to score against all of the big six? ?

Interesting views on our pre season in America, hopefully we don’t repeat the mistakes this season.
I do really buy it when the other teams like villa went to America and didn't have the same Injury issues

Leicester losing again, this time to Millwall.
Will they get FFP penalties if they go up this year? Starting to think this losing streak is deliberate lol

It would be initially incredibly exciting of course but there'd be something very hollow about the shackles coming off completely and us going all out and spending a billion over the next year on transfers.
I'd be absolutely delighted seeing us continue to shop primarily in the 30-40m bracket for a while more, buying younger players who aren't big names yet and looking to keep growing that way. Throw in the occasional Isak style signing, just to treat ourselves.
The fact that PSR in its current form means we apparently can't do that is ridiculous, especially after getting into the Champions League last year. Was clear we were hamstrung last summer and our squad depth issues came back to bite us this season.
Will be great if it becomes less restrictive and we at least have the chance to push on, even if it's not a level playing field.
I thought the same until I reflected how hard the Ashley years were and more so other clubs fought to block the sale, ban the opportunity for us to grow and benefit from Saudi money themselves... For me we could do a City and I see them all on court in five years time

Yeah to be fair I would still prefer to win the Premier League first lol

Think the pl might have just seen the bigger picture.
If pif related funds are e allowed to sponsor Newcastle.. it allows us to feed the whole market.
We pay 100 million for player A, they can then either balance their books or spend 50 mil on a new player... Who then allows the next club and the next club to do the same (minus agent fees lol)
FFP essentially built a dam to stop new funds flowing through the system.. without investment it soon dries up

Howe said in the post-match presser that it was fatigue rather than an injury. Clearly an explanation for why he hasn't been starting games, at least.
To be fair he has only played four senior games past 80 mins in his life.. that was the longest he has played in over a year.
Just think he is a raw talent without the games or miles under his belt.
I wouldn't be against taking a gamble if we can guarantee there are funds to buy players in other positions

Poor bloke has had Longstaff and two other kids learning their trade this year.
I do wonder which three CMS we would have went with
-
No doubt Dyche has instructed his team to be robust... I mean if I was the opposition manager I would do the same lol
-
When is press conference today?
Or do they skip it because of the bank holiday
-
-
I would love to add some raw gems into the squad / academy as well.. long term it's these players the likes of Chelsea and Man City flip to balance the FFP books.
-
Oh it's from the club lol
-
Just checking is this the same media and online specialists that had Gordon out for 6 months or has the club announced anything to the press?
-
Haaland four games against us this year and no goals...
In fact it's only 3-5 on aggregate lol

It's the number one position I hope we upgrade in the summer, but Murphy isn't shite.
Murphy needs the team to play well to get the best out of him.. outside of trippier he is out best (or only winger) to be able cross the ball.

Again I'm no expert but do you even get ACL injuries from being over played?
Google says.
ACL injuries often happen during sports and fitness activities that can put stress on the knee: Suddenly slowing down and changing direction (cutting) Pivoting with your foot firmly planted. Landing awkwardly from a jump
Was it not more the push by Cucerella (which he did all game) which impacted his knee?

Came here to say pretty much exactly the same thing.
Training with 100% intensity is fine if you're just playing 38 PL games and a domestic cup game here and there, and able to take a rest when other teams are playing in Europe.
But with our CL commitments this season, I think many of us were quite rightly asking the question before the season started as to how Howe was going to approach this season as anyone could see training with and playing with 100% intensity every single time, with our full court press style, wasn't going to last. I'm not surprised at all with how bad it's been. Correlation does not mean causation, there's other factors as well of course, but playing nearly the same unchanged XI every game and not protecting players when given the opportunity is something I'm disappointed with Howe about. Using your full squad of players is basics at the high levels we're aiming for. There's definitely some aspects to squad management that Howe needs to go away and take stock of for next season.
There's a reason that the best teams in the country just don't simply out-run their opponents like we often did last season, because they can't do it every game with the schedules they have to keep. If we're going to mix it up with the big boys, we need a quality-focused approach rather than simply running teams off the park.
Klopp did the same thing at Dortmund and Liverpool... with his ultra press, lung bursting playing style.
Both went off the rails when players were burnt out but he has managed to build a stronger squad that he can rotate or bring in quality youngsters.
We are not there yet with either the squad or the academy graduates

Cheap revamp of Gateshead stadium when the work is getting done at ours.
Just get the scaffolding guys in from Russia to build a few temporary stands!
