  1. I think the queue did sort of make it a case of people who really wanted a ticket got one. I know some people just couldn’t be around at a certain time for whatever reason but other people will have made the effort to do it, like queuing up outside in the old days. It’s no effort now so very easy to just apply and see what happens even if not that arsed.

  2. Must be issues with having the right number of seats available doing it through a ballot and people picking seats. Could have a group of 3 or more being allocated tickets then logging on to buy and isn’t that number togther there any more.

No idea where you’d be sitting at an away game.

And that’s fair? Someone buys a seat for all of the matches but is more or less forced to leave it empty for some games?

It’s all about making money from fans and it’s being carried out in a pretty callous way imo.

Not so long ago we were giving out free half season tickets - no fan was holding onto a ST in the hope that they’d turn a profit in a few years by selling tickets for games. If the club want to route out this type, if there are any, just look at any who managed to get multiple ST after the takeover and take a look.

I don’t think it’s fair but, for most clubs, season tickets are a way to get money in  quicker and have guaranteed income. Benefit for season ticket holder is paying less than match by match tickets for paying early. Were never supposed to be used by multiple people but was no way to stop it and they wanted to sell more so didn’t want to try.

I’d be of the opinion that they’ve given me the option to buy it so I can give it to whoever I want but think it’s always been the case it should only have been used by one person.

  4. With a stadium right in town we don’t need any facilities other than corporate stuff. Can eat or drink anything you want within about 1000 yards of the ground. Can’t do that anywhere else, though Everton looks like it will be the best of the other grounds. Baffles me why anyone is eating or in there for longer than a quick pint before kick off.

    Can I ask why?

Atmosphere rubbish, too big usually, seem to be different people there probably because of the prices. People moan now about people leaving before half time, coming back late etc and it’s even worse at somewhere like Spurs with people sat eating doughnuts and fish and chips while game is going on.

  6. Do need to increase revenue but i’d want to see an advert on every piece if of tat castore sell and every advertising board in the ground with something on it before tickets increase.

  7. Where are you moving these people to? Go to the East or Milburn and your ticket is going up £200+, struggling to get a few together or going upstairs. And if people as old as suggested that’s not a particularly good option.

  8. There isn’t an excuse. It’s fine.

I can understand the younger lads thinking it could be better and wanting to improve it but for people who’ve been going a long time I think they’re harking back to an atmosphere that was never actually there.

I’m probably similar to yourself came back for the spurs home game after the takeover. Loved the build up, city absolute rocking, then place was flat as a pancake once ref blew whistle. Picked up when Wilson scored then quickly went flat again, I couldn’t believe it the fuckers could only raise themselves to chant we want brucey out near the end.

We’d waited 15 years to get rid of Ashley and we couldn’t maintain an atmosphere for at least 45 minutes. If that was Elland Road they’d have been raucous and defiant in defeat, the current fanbase inside SJP reek of customers who think it’s the in thing to go to a PL match.

Its a sad state of affairs and the only thing negative about the club in my eyes at the moment, which is ironic because in the doldrums of the 70’s, 80’s and early 90’s the support was the one thing that kept the club going. Ffs we can’t even blame the takeover and winning trophies for the demise in atmosphere, something deep rooted has changed the fanbase and it’s going to be difficult to get back after 15 years of Ashley.

Someone having a heart attack during the game tends to dampen at atmosphere I think.

That's all it is though. Reputation. As anyone knows a reputation, whether good or bad, is difficult to shake off. Anyone thinking our current atmosphere is good like these YouTuber's and Tiktok'ers do (although I doubt they're at SJP every other week like we are) is basing it on reputation. Any regular matchgoer knows that isn't the reality.

I go every week and totally disagree with you so that shows how worthless both of our opinions are.

That's your opinion. My experience is something different. Not sure if you are at the match on Sunday but if you are just take a minute to look around you when you are in your seat (unless you are in the corner) and you will see why our atmosphere is shite as you'll be mainly surrounded by miserable middle/age folk who have no interest whatsoever in creating an atmosphere.

I suppose my point is it makes no difference how good you, or I, think it is. Players, managers, home and away, say how good it is and we’ve all seen how it can affect opponents, not all the time but often in big games.

When you’re somewhere regularly you notice the shitter bits more but demanding change might affect what we already have.

  12. I would have thought so but maybe Gallowgate not a runner with possible extension coming. Be a real blow to me as that turnstile is perfect, never a queue, can rock up 5 minutes to kick off.

Nah, again I disagree. If you look at Man Utd, and even Liverpool these days, what their fans do to keep an atmosphere going is get their songbook going. It's the perfect way to keep an atmosphere bubbling along, even if a game is poor, and it kills me to admit it but Man U do it really well. Even Liverpool have been pretty good when I watch them at Anfield, as they get the "Allez, Allez" song, or the "Jurgen said to me...." one going around the stadium to give it a lift.

Because we have almost completely lost our old classic songbook, then when a game goes flat, the place just goes silent.

There's two ways to make an atmosphere. One is getting raucous in reaction to match events, and the other is having a sing-song when the match goes flat. We have lost the ability to do the latter.

Fair enough. I’ve never come away from Old Trafford or Anfield thinking we need an atmosphere more like that.
