I do not believe a second that there was anyone willing to buy him. He is finished as a top level striker, at least if he doesn't miraculously get over that injury problem. WIth that age and injury record and decent wage, no one is going to touch him.

You do know that a) Nations League games are pretty much friendlies b) tempo in the Premier League games is way higher than in international games I am not saying I would have made the same decisions, but i try to understand his reasoning. I dont think starting one player in Longstaff inplace of Tonali who has not played much is ”suboptimal”. Barnes yea, but neither him or Gordon are RW. Murphy (or Almiron) is a natural choice there. Yesterday Nkunku, Hudson-Odoi and Garnacho came of the bench to score. Would have guessed they should usually be starters.

Yes, but there might be 100 reasons that we don't know behind this. "Playing your best players" meant for example with Pardew that he played Ba as a left winger, which didn't really work defensively at all. His changes turned the game, and he made them early. Great job. Overall our performances have been poor, especially attacking-wise. Right side is dead at the moment. Livramento and Murphy doesn't work at all, and centrebacks cannot play to midfield if Bruno is marked.
