We won’t sign anyone. We’ve been told this all window
Aye, people are just driving themselves mental in here. They've been briefing the same message for months. No one in Jan, barring a big injury to a big player.

Have really reached Burnsie level of desperation?

If that’s genuinely sourced from the club then it does smell like bullshit expectation managmenet
Not really. Word is (and was back in the Summer) that signing Guehi would have meant a big departure at some point before the June 30th 2025 PSR deadline. We didn't get Guehi so we will never know, but if we had it could have left us more vunerable to bids for Isak, Bruno, Tonali, etc.

Anyone know how we could afford to spent £89m on Guehi in the summer but now we've got nowt to spend? Makes no sense to me.
According to local journos we were never as high as even 80m, hovered around 60 before walking away. And as others have said, if we'd have done that deal we likely would have had to generate it back and then some before June 2025.

When Miggy goes does anyone think we'll sign a replacement?
I don't think we will, I just find it hard to believe we're going to leave ourselves short on numbers in such an important part of the season.Yeah, said it all month, but the club have made it pretty clear we aren't signing anyone in Jan. The only slight caveat to that was always 'unless a key player gets a bad injury'.
Yeah, Almiron is going and we look short. But Barnes and Wilson are both back pretty soon.

Haha wouldn't go that far. Summer is a different matter. I just feel bad for people every time I come in here theorising about this position or that position. The club have gotten it out there all month, and in the months leading up to Jan that, unless there was a majoy injury to one of the crown jewels, we would be saving ourselves for the Summer market.
The days of "well of course they say that..." or 'smokescreens' are long gone. The notion of 'smokescreens' to begin with is just a bit daft.

We're not signing anyone in Jan.

We aren't signing anyone in Jan. We may move for him in the Summer if we end up in Europa or Conference. If we get CL we need someone who is ready to (in theory) start week and week out at a high level.
-
Cunha is a tremendous player, but as others have pointed out, we don't really play in a way that suits him. And the only position we have where he comes close to fitting in our current system would be on the left, which Gordon has nailed down.
Mbuemo is still the ideal target for me. Though I think we only move for him in the Summer if we get CL.

They can't afford him though, so it's moot.
Think that's what was meant. Isak has played himself into the bracket of players where there are only 2 or 3 clubs that could realistically sign him in the middle of a contract.

Also get a feeling Sky Sports could be getting pretty annoyed as the transfer windows were something they built up massively, seems like its totally died on its arse last 2 years (strange that even though 'PSR' has been around for over 10 years, I wonder what changed 🙄).
Definitely think this is more likely to happen first than the big six properly turning on each other. This and maybe another league starting to muscle in. La liga really should be doing better than it does commercially.

I’m not dummy spitting though. Take that result and performance aside from our run and it’s fucking shocking and needs to be called out. All I’m saying is that we have seen it too often against teams who we should be beating.
I can handle losing if we try, but that was fucking disgusting and it’s happened too often.
I mean if you want to look at that result in a total vacuum then go right ahead, I just think it's fucking daft.

It will be good to at least get some proof of life from the 'Howe out' people. Been getting worried.

Fucking disgusting how we never put in a performance against them or Everton.
Fucking getting sick of it.
Play well against teams we who we do well to punch our weight against, then have these performances man. 4-1 at home to Bournemouth, 3-1 against Fulham, 2-0 against West Ham, 4-2 against Brentford. It’s fucking disgusting and it needs to fucking stop.
You ok, Hun?
Seriously though. Obviously it's a shocking display, but it's come on the back on an insane run. 0 need for this level of dummy spitting.
-
I actually think they may come up. If they do they will need to strengthen massively or they're going straight back down.

This is total bollocks - he's had a few lengthy injuries but isn't a permacrock like Wilson. Whether he's good enough is up for debate
Aye, this. He isn't anywhere close to Wilson in terms of injuries. And I don't really understand people turning their nose up at DCL on a free. He isn't coming in to replace Isak. More as an option/plan B from the bench.

That very first Jan window aside, has Eddie ever said we are looking to make a few signings in any window?

This applies to both yours and Mazzy's post but this summer should leave us with a big amount to spend, especially if we sell a few. The year going off the books was a huge loss and alongside the assumed profit made this year should give us some wriggle room. I thought that last year so could be wrong!
If we could get Mbeumo he would act as ST cover as well and Dibling and then sign a new CB, I personally think that could be doable, but I am also prepared to be PSR disappointed!
Do concur there could/should be a decent amount to spend in the Summer. Especially if we get CL. But even then I think they'll be wanting to bring in a RW, CB, and potentially GK all at the level to go straight in if needed. Even being canny and filling some of those roles with cheaper European options is still likely going to be close to 100m.

In an ideal world we sign Dibling and an established RW in the summer and sell Murphy whilst his stock is high (should have done this with Miggy). Dibling is playing in one of the worst PL sides of all time and at times he looks incredible, still very raw and inconsistent but I believe he will become one of the best wingers in the PL in time, he has something pre Pep-ruined Grealish like about him.
I don't think our PSR situation allows for the luxury of signing both an established and up and comming RW in the Summer. At least not for the fee involved for Dibling (likely 40m+). Think if we get CL we will go for someone like Mbeumo (finished article), think if it's Europa or below it will be someone like Dibling, who can grow into the role.

Am I the only one who thinks Mbeumo ain’t it?
The supposed money is wild man.
(I am very much in the let’s get CL now camp)
Not being a dick, but interested to see who you think is it if it's not him? There's no one playing that inside forward off the right role better in the PL at the moment.
I don't think we will get him, at least not in Jan, but he certainly must be near the top of the list.
-
Don't want to be chief chip pisser, but really don't think we are making any moves in Jan. Only way I can see that changing is if Isak gets injured.
-
Especially enjoyed the "you've seen United, now fuck off home" chant once it went to 2-1. You've been outplayed by the worst team in the league for 80mins...
-
Feel like if we get CL it will be Mbuemo. If it's Europa or Conference it will instead be a young'un like Dibling/some young kid from abroad.

Think a lot of this will depend on their agent. I'm sure the club/Eddie will be drilling it into them. But ultimately these lads tend to (rightly or wrongly) trust their agent with this sort of stuff. If the agent wants a move he will skew their thinking that way however he/she can.
