  1. Picture there of the team’s shirt adorned with two main sponsors, both of which are 100% owned by the owners. Yep, it’s difficult Peter - that must’ve taken some effort to get them over the line. I wonder who could’ve been approached for a training kit sponsor?
  2. Boyhood Sunderland fan? Don’t get me started … (joking of course - but not about the Sunderland bit …)

I’m happy to let the club decide what the next steps are - if they want the lad and are still in for him (and they’re willing to be patient) then no issue from me
  4. Probably an insurance job - they need the money
  5. Sorry mate can’t remember the names - there was a couple of dafties who did say it at the start of the window.

Parish still won’t have worked out that he isn’t going to get the money for his players that he would have got because the rules of which he was a leading advocate have left bigger clubs in a position where they actually have to watch what they spend. He’s within his rights to demand what he wants, of course.
  7. A 70k+ stadium is filled comfortably by a successful NUFC If we match the capacity of the likes of Spurs or Arsenal then we’d be cementing just how far we are behind - we will never be able to charge what is charged at those grounds. Capacity isn’t the issue - income is. Spurs and Arsenal take £100m+ on match day revenues. We currently take about £35m. To truly catch up, we’d need significant expansion - ie 20k more than the present + shitloads of corporate
  8. I don’t think we are, and I also don’t think it should be considered
  9. Feels like a massive moment of truth all of this. We’ll know where they’re planning on taking the club pretty soon - one of those moments where actions speak louder than words. While I know that not everyone agrees re what should be done (new stadium would be my preference; plenty would rather see SJP expanded), I haven’t seen many (any?) who’d be happy to see the club shifted out of the city centre. I definitely wouldn’t be happy to see the club moved out into the suburbs. I do wonder what the consequences would be if they did, though. I suspect a lot of grumbling and complaining, followed by fortnightly sell-out crowds.
  10. If Almiron goes, definitely. We’ll need a new RW. Though I wouldn’t be surprised to see us try for a Hall-style deal with a club like Chelsea - full year loan and fee payable next 1 July
  11. It’s why football needs independent governance. The FA isn’t fit for purpose, and the PL was designed to be a racket screwing over the rest of the game - this isn’t an unfortunate consequence, this is the PL doing what it was created to do in the first place
  12. No - and I wouldn’t hold it against the lad if he’d go to Liverpool given a chance to do so. It wouldn’t mean that he is unhappy with his lot at NUFC.
  13. Yep, though the ‘I’m confident we’ll spend £200m’ crowd appears to have dwindled.
  14. And the collar was part of the point of course - the kit was based on the original Newcastle West End kit, grandfather collars and all. You lose that with an off-the-shelf template
  15. Doesn’t quite sound like ‘resounding victory’ mind. But let’s wait and see

  17. I'm an unashamed fan of wingers like Barnes - I like having a truly direct option available. Gordon is of course quality and a better footballer, but I really do think that Barnes offers something different. He's always looking for a finish - and the lad can strike a ball well. Don't get the criticism tbh. The lad was unfortunate in that he missed a chunk of last season - and while I'm not a stats junkie, in the ones that really do count (goals and assists) he's right up in there in terms of minutes played: If we had a Gordon / Barnes pairing equivalent for the RW I doubt we'd be having any worries.
  18. 100% - and it was a tough start to the season. But I didn't think Tonali looked much to write home about before his ban. Hopefully, that was down to both settling into a new country / league, and the external issues re gambling. Happy for the lad to have a fresh start, but I suspect he won't be given much time to impress.
  19. That is my recollection too - and the midfield three that many are excited about (Bruno, Joelinton, Tonali) looked really poor together - those three defeats in a row at the start of the season were in no small part down to how terrible the midfield looked (vs Brighton in particular). Happily, Villa played a ridiculously high line against us in the first game and were caught out. Tonali looked a long way off the pace - and disinterested vs Brighton. Fingers crossed he hits the ground running. We won six and drew two of the following eight PL games once Longstaff was restored to the line-up. Though I understand that Longstaff is the worst midfielder in the universe from quite a few on here ...

Another Palace fan with the ‘sidewards step’ shite Could someone let them know that they’re not as a big a club as Middlesbrough, never mind us?

Guehi is a better CB than Schar and has plenty of years ahead of him.
  23. Can’t but help feel relief at Solanke to Spurs. Have never been a big fan, and always felt that there was a chance of Howe signing him.
