  1. Agreed - and I don’t think Isak’s actions were justified. I think he might have had justification to be unhappy, but no justification to act like a twat.
  2. I worked of course - at no point have I defended Isak‘s actions. I wasn’t calling him a cunt as a term of endearment
  3. I probably worded it stronger than necessary, but if you're one of the world's elite centre-forwards it might well seem like precisely that.
  4. Ooof - I agree we didn't have an abundance of talent at the back under Robson, but Hughes was a pretty solid PL quality defender, and as good a RB as we've had below our A-Tier (Trippier, Livramento, Debuchy, Watson).
  5. Agreed - though my guess would be that it is the contract which was the issue, which may have been compounded by other issues. But paying Isak less than Joelinton is a pisstake.
  6. Yep, I have been too - very recently in fact - and my reaction was to walk. And I have.
  7. If - as seems likely - Isak was made promises by the club which weren’t met, then he would be justifiably angry with the club; both in terms of where the club would be and in particular in terms of a new contract. Hopefully the new CEO will end the smell of rank amateurism which has been emanating from upstairs for some time. That doesn’t justify in the slightest his actions - he acted like a cunt and he is a cunt. All footballers are ultimately mercenary in nature - I’ve never bought the ‘I proper love the club’ patter that they all come out with - but Isak showed a complete lack of professionalism in his actions. His anger might be justifiable, but his actions weren’t. For what it is worth, nowt personal meant or taken with any of this - always enjoyed crack on here with you 👍
  8. Your anger is lost on me tbh CF - I said sweet FA about the club not spending to the max possible under PSR. I’m a PSR bore - I know how much we can spend and why. No issue there. The issue is wider than that.
  9. I still don’t blame him for going, I don’t think the club was matching his ambition nor what his salary should be. I suspect he was sold the club on promises of a ‘project’ that didn’t follow-through; it can’t just be nameless wankers like me on the internet who are unimpressed by the slowness and inaction of the ownership. Also, Mitchell acted like an amateur cunt and I can only blame the knackers who appointed the amateur cunt in the first place through their existing relationships. He still acted like an unprofessional wanker though, and I do have the funny feeling that the unnecessary additional pressure he’s added to his signing will be likely to sink him - and he’ll get fuck all sympathy from me. But I’m not writing off the moment I’d waited my life for because he acted the twat later on - I’ve seen plenty of unprofessional knackers in B&W, some of which haven’t had opprobrium poured over them obsessively after they went. He came, scored a load of goals, won us a trophy, was sold for double money is the story. If we now win bucketloads of trophies then of course that legacy will diminish with each successive trophy win - but for now, he’s a club legend as far as I’m concerned. And a cunt, too.
  10. Yep, he’s the ice man for a reason. I suspect it is what made him what he was for us. edit: he won’t be forgotten, mind - he’s still possibly the best centre forward I’ve seen at NUFC, and ultimately scored the winner in a cup final which I’d waited my entire 40-odd years to see. Just because he acted the twat at the end, he’s written himself into our history and that moment isn’t soured one bit for me. Footballers play for money, not emotion - Isak is the ne plus ultra of that, but only the local lads would be playing for us if it boiled down to sentiment and not money. Bruno and Tonali aren’t here because it’s in their blood.
  11. Yes, because Man Utd’s first choice midfielder had nowt to do with them being dominant on the ball. Zidane, Iniesta and Xavi all felt that Scholes was the best midfielder of his time. But what would they know?
  12. Playing W-M instead of that imported forrin 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 guff is proper Brexity in any case
  13. There is nothing brave or quality about it - Amorim has been pretty much begging for the sack for months in his post-match interviews. Brexit Jim doesn’t want to pay for the consequences of his shit decision-making, and is effectively telling his manager you’ll have to walk to get out of this situation.
  14. Wasn’t in Scholes’s class, though he was a powerhouse of a player. Scholes could’ve slotted into Barcelona’s midfield of the early ‘10s, Gerrard wouldn’t have made the bench.
  15. The English press are complete cunts, mind, and always have been. Anyone who watched ‘An Impossible Job’ isn’t a human being if they didn’t get to the end of it and have sympathy for Taylor due to his treatment by the press - despite the fact that he was absolutely terrible in the job and made horrific decisions and selections. The full documentary below for anyone who hasn’t seen it - or anyone who like me has watched it intermittently for three decades …
  16. In fairness, Taylor was picking Geoff Thomas ahead of Waddle

    Joe Willock

It definitely is - old Franco Chip is as reliable a source as they come
  18. Zero chance Ashley would sell at a loss in the second tier I reckon. All just opinion, of course.
  19. I never understood this logic - NUFC were far less likely to be sold in the second division.
  20. Without PSR there’s a good chance that Anderson would’ve been out the door sooner and Minteh wouldn’t have been signed at all. Not worth worrying about

    Nick Pope

Might be the best I’ve seen at NUFC (not a long list, mind). His only big weakness is one he shares with the other first rate keeper we’ve had in my time (Given) - distribution. If Pope had that in his game, I reckon he’d be one of the two or three best in the league.
  22. Yep, I reckon this is spot-on - he meant it, but it also required as much luck as skill
  23. Agreed - the run-up is fucking horrible, he telegraphs where it’s going
