It is a problem if you want to actually sign someone. Someone in the hierarchy is making VFM assessments of players' fees by the looks of it.
-
Agreed completely - but we have it.
-
Howe isn’t a bystander, there’s a three person transfer committee and he is in charge of it.
-
‘Sven Botman is like a new signing’
-
I can remember Rover being NUFC’s official car partner in the Keegan era - that may have been the last moment when a top level footballer could be persuaded to drive in in a Rover
-
This is like. The entire point of watching sport is it’s meant to be fun - somehow this gets lost
-
If Howe wants him I’m all in is my view of transfers - even if I’m scratching my head re the appeal (though I can see the appeal of Sesko)
-
That’s offputting And we need to employ professionals not nepo babies
-
Because they’re not in the business of chucking vast sums at overseas projects - which actually are investments. The other sports ‘investments’ are within KSA - which justifies chucking stupid money at it
-
It’s the MO of that govt. Decades of spunking the geographical lottery win up the wall. The Mickey Carroll of govts.
-
Got you - Isak’s been here more than three seasons, so 60% of his fee is amortised, not 30%
-
Early June from memory - but my memory has been wrong before
-
How do we lose money on the Isak sale?
-
Kelly’s sale was in last season’s numbers
-
We’ve spent the maximum amount available on the pitch - and while that’s the club’s income in the long run, PIF put substantial amounts in for cash flow purposes to ensure we could edit: they’ve funded the ‘maximum losses’ under PSR too
-
They haven’t spent hundreds of millions off the pitch - no complaints re what they’ve spent on it.
-
Once it happened, sure. As there will be if Sesko signs.
-
If we were linked with Isak today the thread would be full of ‘he’s only scored six league goals last season, he’s not proven, why are we paying £63m for him?’ If Sesko is who Howe wants, I’m confident he’s the right player
-
Sorry, what significant spending off the pitch?
-
I’ve got serious doubts re the new training ground - it doesn’t need to be in the city, and sourcing land doesn’t take four years. And the talk of a new stadium currently looks like cloud cuckoo land.
