I don’t see any manager at a top club taking the England job these days. It’s for the about-to-retire or never-has-beens -

True enough. Dennis Wise on the left wing still gives me nightmares though. -

Not as strong as the forward options available to Southgate. -

Definitely did not have better attacking talent available at Euro 2000. That side was shite. -

There was a bloke who used to sit behind me at SJP who would be quiet for most of the game, and whose only contribution to the noise would be to occasionally shout ‘FUKKIN MOOOOVE MAN’ England could sorely use that man’s wise counsel in Germany -

Yep. The arrogance of the man is phenomenal. ‘Nothing wrong with my system, obviously. Just need to find the randomly correct individual and all shall click. They’ll see’ -

Like all dogshit managers, Southgate is stubborn. Everyone else can see what the problems are, they are so obvious. He won’t because he won’t be told what to do. Credit to the bloke, he’s managed to persuade lower middle class football fans that he isn’t just another Fat Sam or Bruce because he wears a nice wesskit and makes sad faces at bad racism -

It doesn’t mean anything like as much. Which is why entertainment is even more important. -

Whichever daft cunt PL owner appoints Southgate after the England job will absolutely prove they know sweet FA about football. This is just completely turgid. -

Which is what Isak is meant to be on, and is a lot higher than what Wilson is meant to be on -

I mean, clearly he was right about the link and broke the story first. So he isn’t that shit. Doesn’t mean he isn’t a wanker. -
I’ve no issue with MCO being blocked in Europe tbh. Obviously that should also apply to clubs who already are in one, too.

Yankuba Minteh (now playing for Brighton & Hove Albion)

I really wouldn't -
I mean, I was watching it thinking 'well yeah of course he would know Ghislaine Maxwell, he was Derby manager when Robert Maxwell owned the club. Doesn't mean he's in Epstein's noncing gang' And then there is the antisemitic conspiracy rug pull at the end ... lovely stuff. Totally thought it was going down a different conspiracy rabbit hole
-
Yep, I don't doubt we'd get a nominal fee. But anyone with eyes could see that Dubravka was the weakest link in that side - we didn't finish 7th because of him, unless the statement was 'why didn't Newcastle finish 5th?'
-
All opinions of course, but I’d be astonished to get anything for a 35 year old reserve goalie with 1 year left on his contract
-
We wouldn’t get £500k for Dubravka

Mbappe had won the World Cup as a no.9 by the age of 19. I reckon he’d proven himself as an elite player, PL or not. -

Fair enough. Wasn’t trying to be condescending, but see that I might have been. I would say that I know it isn’t a complex idea. It seems pretty obvious to me. -

I'm willing to bet that England's most successful club of this century found a way to deal with it ... -

If we get to where we'd like to get, there will be a lot of that over the next few years. Too many seem to be thinking as they did when Ashley ran the club. -

TheBrownBottle replied to Strawberry's topic in Football
Yep, I suspect a lot just aren't willing to accept the obvious just yet DCL's transfer would be amortised; Minteh's sale wouldn't. There's no reason that we wouldn't pay 30m+ for DCL based on a sale of around 30m for Minteh -

Yep. Chelsea still do this despite their income advantage. This is all perfectly normal. -

Because we have an income which is roughly half that of any member the Sky Six - we can't afford to have two or three Isaks on the books at the moment. Our income this season is closer to Luton than it is to Spurs. Finance is dictating all of this.
