He did that too I also heard that a monkey has a Peter Reid heed

I liked Peter Reid at the time too. Though I did also sing about him eating bananas with his feet, so there is that.

It feels odd writing it, but I’m glad the govt has acted - it’s about three decades too late (and all previous govts have that responsibility too), but at long last there is an attempt at independent regulation. English football has always had an odd regulatory structure, given the separation between the FA and the Football League (and now to an extent the FA-backed breakaway PL). I wish this had been done prior to 1992, but nowt can be done on that now. Blocking of a ESL obviously has been the final straw and forced regulation, but I’d happily see a lot of the damage done to the national game rolled back. I also don’t give a solitary shite if it impacts the ‘standing’ of the PL nor performances in Europe. The pyramid is utterly broken and needs fixing. I’m also unmoved if in the medium- to long-term this includes the forceable sale of clubs out of the hands of dubious characters. And yes, I’m aware that this could impact NUFC.

Yep, a wide catalogue of them is a good thing too. There’s songs I don’t like too in the repertoire tbf -

I’m teetotal these days (despite the handle) and I still like the song. Drinking songs are as old as drinking. It strikes me as a bit po-faced to frown at it - the song isn’t meant to be literally true. -

To be fair, I don’t doubt that there are more than two versions of it - most of the times I remember it is on away trips in the ‘90s and ‘00s - usually pubs / coaches only. I think the ‘we are the pride of …’ is the bit which most clubs who use the song sing (I’m sure I’ve heard the Mancs sing it, Villa too) -

NB ‘drink, drink’ is a fucking great song. Replaced by that fuckawful ‘don’t take me home’ shite -

We are the pride of the country the cock of the north we all hate Sunderland and Boro of course [AND LEEDS!] We all drink whiskey … -
Hacks are all tiresome as far as I’m concerned. John Gibson still bangs on like NUFC’s greatest fan, yet chuckles at the thought of the time he betrayed MacDonald’s trust with the ‘Gordon Who?’ headline, which was at the heart of why Supermac left the club. ‘Ho ho ho Gordon Lee never liked him after that’, and all to sell a few copies more of the Ronnie Gill. Hope breaking that story this week isn’t the first one - there’s been a few arsehole pieces he’s ran in the last few days. Fuck him, the moon-landing denying wanker.

Without the apostrophe, till is still grammatically correct - it means the same as until, but isn’t an abbreviation.

I’ll take pelanties right now if offered

German keepers aren’t allowed to lose penalty shootouts. This is an Iron Law of football. It happened once in 1976 and that terrible mistake has not been allowed to reoccur

NUFC are in a cup final and will have visibility to wider audience (albeit it’s only the League Cup Final - I can’t say I’m arsed about it when we’re not in it). It’s the perfect time to raise visibility and awareness. I just don’t agree with NUFC supporters causing any sort of distraction to the manager - I agree that Howe should have been aware of what he was signing up to, but I fail to see how this helps. Protest outside and inside Wembley, present the letter to Staveley and Reuben etc - Howe’s the employee, they’re the public faces of the PIF’s investment. They’re on Twitter; they’re at most games. It doesn’t seem impossible to approach them. Human rights abuses in KSA are a much more important subject than NUFC - but the only people taking notice of letters to Howe are the smarmy moral lecturers of the very, very soft left.
-
Yep, a handful of internet goons don’t represent all of us. Though again, I’m struggling to take lectures in morality from a hack employed by *checks notes* a Russian oligarch and a Saudi Sultan.

Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)
TheBrownBottle replied to Miggys First Goal's topic in Football
I don’t blame him either - but there’s an argument that neither PSG nor NUFC were a particular good idea at that stage of his development. The footage that went round on here made him look at best like a very, very rough diamond. I thought he was unimpressive, but I will admit I don’t scout for PSG, Dortmund (which probably would have been a good choice) or NUFC, so I am generally happy to concede that it is possible I’m wrong on that score. While I wish the lad no harm, there’s still a bit of schadenfreude here. What can I say, I’m a bit of a cunt like that -

Hope we don’t think about going back for him. I was unconvinced at the time and now it looks like he’d break our ‘no wankers’ policy -
Looks like Eddie’s high line high press Mags might have to drop a wee bit deeper on Sunday

Can’t help thinking that he’s either going to be Man of the Match or have the worst game you’re ever likely to see a keeper have and we ship four or five goals. My brain can’t find middle ground at the moment
