Wrexham vs Nottingham county should be fun. I wonder what the viewing figures will be.
-
I guess he means wining the champions league and denying 4th place a spot.
-
I'd like that too. After the last attempt I just presumed it was a no go.
-
If money was no object I would: 1. Build a 50k ikea stadium somewhere close that ends up being used for something else 2. Move there 3. Tear down St James and build a state or the art stadium on the current site. I'm sure starting from scratch on that site you could have a 70k+ stadium. St James, as much as we love it, architecturally and design wise is about 5-10 projects iterating/improving on the last one. I would still find this hard to take as I do love the uniqueness the build history has brought to the stadium. I never see this happening though. I think we will see another iteration improving things a bit but not being game changing.

This is where St James current layout hurts us. We could really do with a couple rings of boxes around the ground. Like Wembley, Arsenal & Tottenham. Doing this without reducing the capacity of ruining what St James is would be very difficult.

I really like the idea of 52,000 £999,999.99 sponsorship deals for seats in the stand.

The training ground and stadium is what I am most looking forward to. It will put to bed the doubts that PIF are not committed to the scale of investment that Man City saw. It will set up up for decades. The sooner this happens the better.
-
This is where things are going to get difficult. PIF have their fingers pretty much everywhere. Everyone could be classed as related. This could get really messy and maybe already is behind the scenes.

I dont know. Personally I cannot see how they can legally do anything. The example I use is: - two Saudi companies both want to sponsor us - bidding war - we get a shirt sponsor ten times Man City (extreme example to illustrate the point) How can they deny us? We argue that we are Saudi owned. Huge interest in us in Saudi. Two companies wanted to have us and went mad. I do not see how in court the premier league could win simple case of supply and demand. I think an argument that your rivals are getting x, y or z is irrelevant and can't be fair trade.

This summer is going to clear up what we can actually do financially. It could be a huge sponsorship deal for shirt, training ground and stadium. Or a premier league handcuffed marginal improvement. If it's the latter next season could be incredibly hard for us. Potentially balancing Europe with the league with a marginally better squad. We could easily slip down to mid table. Making the bigger deals hard to justify again. The rules set up to maintain the greedy six's dominance are well thought out. They are not stupid. We see teams flirt with breaking into it for a year and then really struggle. I do think/hope we're different but its not going to be easy.
-
I agree I think it was a bit of a bottle job. They were panicking and not backing themselves to attack anymore. When Saka was through and crossed we would have had 3-4 players with him. They eventually had one. We've got a bit go Keegan in us in that even with just a 1 goal lead we still commit men forward.

Aston Villa vs. Newcastle United: 15/04/23 @ 12:30 (BT Sport)

Two teams on great form, I think the game will come down to a flip of a coin. Who starts well, who gets a decision, who finishes the first chance. The false rivalry is an irritation. I'd rather us Brighton, Villa, Everton, Brentford etc saw the similarities in what we're all trying to achieve in breaking the premier league into a big 10. Lots of their fans and some of ours are so obsessed. It's easy to get drawn into it and making this a bigger game than what it is. -

It just goes to show how good our recruitment are. The two we wanted both excelling. After Smith and Gerrard Villa's recruitment team probably just thought we must know what they're doing lets go for someone who turned them down. -
Good game this.
-
Pope would have caught it.
-
Dirty time wasting arsenal wankers.
-
So stupid but it is what it is. Move on. He will be kicking himself now. No need for any pile on. Hopefully he scores against villa and runs over to howe and bows down ?♂️?
-
We can definitely get into this arsenal team with our crowd.
-
Another angle:
-
It was a player he’d be on the ground rolling round and a red would follow.
-
I’m surprised they’re not making more of that.
-
They were saying the linesman elbowed someone or something similar!
-
I felt at the time it was too much money. This wasn’t based on knowledge of the player just stats and it just seemed we were getting a little desperate due to other deals failing. From what we’ve seen so far he had it all goals wise: - goals on break against Liverpool - the cracking header the other week - the shin in from a cross - a couple tap ins being in the right place - creating his own chance from the wing where he skinned the player (I dont actually remember if he scored this or set up a goal) - now the long range goal On top of this his midfield/link up play is outstanding. Edit - my only negative is he seems to disappear some times for periods of games. Not saying its his fault but he did nothing first half yesterday and in a couple early home games. If he can keep this up this season and next he’ll be mentioned with some of the best players in Europe ?

“What a fucking belter” some of the times.

Yes a lot of the time.
