yeah if you actually look at the tweet that started all this, it had been deduced that Whoop were our new sponsor based on what posts someone had liked on Instagram. Not the most reliable source of infotrmation.

Fairly sure it isn't AI slop: Valuation methodology statement The valuation is conducted using a market regression approach, in accordance with the principles of IVS 105 Valuation Approaches and Methods. The valuation date is 1st June 2026. The Sponsor is an independent valuer with no vested or commercial interest in the outcomes of the valuations. The Sponsor does not buy, sell or recommend sponsorships on behalf of brands, agencies or rights holders, and is entirely privately owned - under no pressure from parent organisations or shareholders with a stake in the result. A full market-based regression methodology can be viewed here: https://fmvindex.thesponsor.com/methodology

According to this article our Fair Market Value for front of shirt sponsor is £16.9m p/a so it will be interesting to see what we actually get. https://www.thesponsor.com/revealed-premier-league-fair-market-sponsorship-values-2026/

So we do have a new front of shirt sponsor according to the Shields Gazette put they aren't telling us who it is.

adidas and Newcastle fans dare to be bold on the club’s new home jersey for the 26/27 season. The traditional black and white stripes remain, but the standard, symmetrical width has gone in favor of a brash new offering that’s never-before-seen. Myriads of stripes dance down the Newcastle 26/27 home jersey this season, reflecting wildly different widths and shimmering together to form one cohesive unit. This is a Newcastle kit they’ll remember for years and years to come, worn by a team ready to make a hug splash in the Premier League this season.

Only other time I can remember a player modifying a shirt was Craig Bellamy with our 2003-2005 shirt.
-
Here's something I never knew before - Johan Cruyff removed one of the adidas stripes from his shirt and shorts in the 1974 World Cup: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cdxp7gy2ljro
-
It's definitely a mock up but the trefoil stuff uses the old style stripes.
-
I saw him do talk recently, couldn't believe how much swearing he did.
-
Also - this and the 2024/25 one look much better than any match worn shirt we've had over the last 30 years, and they don't have some rubbish company emblazoned over the front.
-
I love them because they are designed in the style of mid 80s adidas kits which is my most nostalgic period, so we are getting the Adidas kits we never got offically at that time.
-
In fact I'd say that's better suited to fans than walking around in something designed to play football in with a geet big advert plastered over the front of it.
-
Why does it need to have a 'point' to it? Do you think the club should only sell match kits and training wear?

Not at all. And you might well be right but I'll make my mind up when the facts emerge.
-
You're taking that 50% thing on face value from what someone on here said though. At the end of the day that figure has come from someone who says he is connected to a company that were negotiating a sponsorship deal with NUFC - thats not too far off "my mates cousins sister knows someone who knows someone who works in the canteen" type talk.
-
In addition, I doubt many of our fans would be happy if we had the sort of sponsorship deal that's recently been struck by Fulham, Everton, Brentford and Palace with random trading/job search/tech companies. Bournemouth with Vitality Insurance have done well though.
-
As it stands there are 7 Premier League clubs who have yet to sign a front of shirt sponsorship deal -Newcastle, Chelsea, Villa, Forest, Hull, Ipswich and Sunderland. Audi sponsoring Villa remains entirely speculation, and their shirt went on sale today without a sponsor You've got 3 major clubs without sponsors there, I can't remember that ever happening before, so that says to me that it's not just a case of our commercial team being incompetent, there is a wider issue.

SoS definitely doesn't feel like it's in the city centre because all the other city centre stuff is on the other side of the river. It feels like it's in the sort of place you find wasteland, small industrial units and Daewoo showrooms.
-
How's this happening when the transfer window isn't open yet?
-
I'll take your word for it. It's still built on wasteland though.

I think it's just a fake according to Reddit people were wearing them during the parade the other day.
