technically that station isn't even important to the city anyway. I live in Arthurs Hill, 10 mins from St james but I'd rather walk through the park to the Haymarket or the Monument anyway. does it really get much use on a match day? everyone seems to walk up from town anyway. It's probably a station that loses money even. This is how it runs now Since it doesn't go to the west end they probably wish they never built it, and all the new uni buildings must prevent it ever going into the west end
  4. I noticed outside the club shop against the wall now has an InPost collection/drop off box, with full NUFC branding on it. I bet thats about another tenner a year for FFP, every little helps I see after a quick google it was announced in December https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/latest-news/newcastle-united-delivers-out-of-the-box-partnership-with-leading-locker-and-e-commerce-delivery-provider-inpost/ It is new there though right? I walk past most days and never noticed it. it even has the stupid GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL slogan on it from the adverts
  5. sports direct on Northumberland street is no different to any of the other shops selling trainers etc on that street apart from the branding. pretty much the same prices for the trainers I get, usually sports direct is the only one of the 3 shops there that has my size in stock as well (10.5) I was in there last week inf act, seems like the staff are a lot less pushy with tat now too, didn't even ask if I wanted one of those awful looking bags.. Whats the other store he owns is it Evans the bike shop? I know he owns one of them... and they charge for click and collect orders lol....... Does he own halfords? they are the worst shop for prices.... check their in store prices... then look at their website prices.... they will price match their own website but only if you know to ask. one of the most bizarre business practices I've ever noticed, products can be 30% cheaper on their website but you can do click and collect for free using the stores stock...
  6. NUFC letting castore get away with scamming fans, tells me to buy from wherever is cheaper and will actually do the shirt personalisation.. Order a kids shirt to Switzerland, and they send it without a number or name on the back... they literally were sending shirts knowing they weren't ever going to get personalised and then issuing refunds for the personalisation costs... people were moaning about it on here for months... People can claim it's castores fault, the sales were from the club shop, ultimately NUFC let fans down and knew what was happening. I don't see why anyone should feel loyalty towards NUFC commercial operations when hey never showed it to customers...
  7. hes so business savvy that he should just refuse to sell Adidas products in his stores.

https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/newcastle-university-announces-250m-scheme-28658394 Castle leazes gets knocked down in the summer. NUFC should do a land swap and get some of the moor to build a new stadium I guess it's a bit late now sadly
  9. Saw one of the youtubers in leazes park earlier with a drone behind the stadium, then not long after saw another one of them walking through the park. Quite a few people were hanging around the lake in what seemed to be NUFC training kits at one point. (I think just walking around on a lunch break) Couple of hours later saw 2 people in NUFC joggers etc walking through the park, I was a fair distance off sitting on a bench but looked uncannily like sean long staff, I'm 75% sure it was him

North East Coast Exhibition 1929 The green field on the left side is where the RVI now is and that small patch of trees in the top left corner is the bottom of castle leazes moor. the road Infront of those trees is Richardson Road. Planes looking from Jesmond 2:50 starts going a bit racist with "African Village" OMG If they can build that massive thing they can sure stick a footy ground on it, not like it's a natural landscape is it
  11. with the service he would get at other top teams I'm sure 100m would seem like a bargain

in 1965 the council/freemen of the cows proposed a competition for the moor and this won £2000 Instead of "the town fair" stick a football stadium in and it would be magnificent https://newcastle-arts-centre.co.uk/forgotten-green-plan-for-newcastle/ Hoppings can use the crappy bit of land next to the golf course

with the quality of councillors and Mps we get? Remember during covid when green spaces and well being wa ssooo important and people thought maybe life would change for the better? all of that optimism disappeared as quickly as covid did. BTW if you werent aware the council wanted to do this to the green space outside of eldon square saves money on cutting the grass no doubt... all our council cares about is sterilizing the city to save money. Don't worry about "green spaces" being too protected for a stadium, cos the council would likely go for it. if it were a piece of land they spent council taxes maintaining. Never any money with our council, unless its someone's personal vanity project to make a statement for their CV PATHETIC SELF SERVING SCUM.

Should be a forest with dedicated trails. one for walkers/runners one for dog walkers and one for bicycles. our city is soo boring apart from Jesmond Dene btw civic centre to spital tongues used to be like Jesmond dene it was called Pandon Dean Civic centre, hancock museam etc would all be in this painting and this map. now its all flatt and boring, you would never know it used to be a naturally stunning site, if only the freemens cows could graze in water and steep banks :/

Have you seen the amount of green sites around Newcastle that had new build housing estates on them in the last couple of years? even farmland along some of the wagonways I cycle is now housing estates I'm sure they aren't going to cry about a small moor with no use from the public anyway. That brownfield site was a leadworks for something like 223 years and massively contaminated all the soil. I'd be surprised if they allowed any buildings with deep foundations that could lead to contamination of the river or water table

you literally circled the train station, The city centre is greys monument. not like it really matters though, it would just shift where fans drink on match days to a different part of the city No need to destroy a park, although I wish NUFC would take over the park and stop it being a run down, rat infested dump. No need to build on a site that used to have a leadworks and is earmarked for housing with funding secured anyway. 10mins walk from the current site. No usage by any citizens at all, just a small area used part of the year for cows. What do you think is more likely to get council approval and minimal resistance from the public? Could even argue PIF would fund the tunnelling to have the metro tunnel run further under barrack road and add a new stop ( The metro tracks run to where shearers statue used to be, that small building next to it is a fire escape from the metro tunnel. it's not like its far. plenty of room for a stadium and some hotels or whatever with minimal impact on locals could barely any buildings are around their and it's next to noisy roads anyway.

    St James' Park

How much do you think PIF will start milking people if the club doesn't have competition from the city centre? look extremely boring and seem to be more about protecting wealthy fans from the elements. people really like enclosed stadiums? why not sound proof it whilst they are at it so no one knows whats going on inside.

What is that 5 shipping containers side by side?

    St James' Park

not much? it's basically every grass area in the park gone... all the grass on the left side isn't the park it's the moor. if they gave the current SJP land to the park, it's basically like sitting next to a busy road and sucking in all the traffic fumes and noise.... also massively overlooked by all the crap student housing the council allowed to be built around SJP. Your also destroying the bandstand, and all the Victorian walls ,steps and statues.. may as well rip the soul out of the park. never going to be allowed to happen, you also planning on building the stadium directly on top of where the bust is, the bust of the guy who donated the land to have a park there in the first place.... The most land they could take from the park would probably be But that doesn't really help unless they want to knock down the whole stadium and move it
  23. 1-1 after extra time... Versus a club placed 16th in the Championship. Shocking

    St James' Park

Yea... They are never going to give up leazes park and it has Japanese knotweed all around the abandoned, yet listed house behind the stadium only options for a new stadium now would be like behind the brewery at exhibition park, on hunters moor just up barrack road. the half abandoned Newburn industrial estate next to the river has tons of space for much more than just a stadium, but it's in the middle of nowhere

    St James' Park

NUFC would have to take over the management of the park from those Urban Green muppets. The playground also needs completely replacing, right now there's a banner up asking people to donate ...... State of the council in this city..... I bet they wasted tens of thousands trying to disrupt rat runs etc but the city centre park is a proper abandoned **** hole If the park was going to be properly maintained and SJP given to the park instead of turned into student flats, then I'm sure most local would be all for it.
