Wow.... brutal for Villa
-
I think people also just have a hard time admitting players have renaissances - up years and down years. Just how football goes. Barca was a very small sample size for de Jong but he was still extremely efficient with his output there. Very (very) obviously would have had a very successful career in the prem. But anyway, to point to de Jong like that somehow impeaches the quality of dutch league is just, silly? No one is saying its Serie A levels. Fact is a 19 year old dominated a European top flight of grown ass men with 99th percentile output across a range of relevant metrics. You don't have to like that fact (not sure why you wouldn't), but it happened.

Great great start, hopefully a sign of the summer to come
-
No real disagreements here. We'll just have to see as you say. Although my wager would be he's higher up the totem pole as of now.
-
Here is Hall for comparison - not sure the unfinished product bit is all that relevant... Is Anthony Gordon, for example, a finished product? Hall is Eddie fit, or near it at this point, and certainly will be more so than Kelly by next season's start - in addition to simply being the flat-out better fullback

The data doesn't seem to support your prediction, but happy to eat crow if it turns out to be the case
-
Can't afford him
-
Nice squad player who looks like he can fill in the gaps with Botman out - in no scenario beyond fitness/rotation is he being picked ahead of Hall though
-
Gulf between those guys' respective leagues is pretty wide compared to Dutch football. But yea the statistics are shocking really
-
Nowhere near double that figure

Fine transfer in a vacuum... But if Amanda and co. want to take the next step, they will - whether they like it or not - need to get comfortable spending money on international talent. We're too pressed for funds to pay the domestic tax time and time again, when we can get comparable quality for cheaper abroad
-
Tend to agree - happy for him to stick around as a squad lad, but pure profit is pure profit under PSR
-
He's scored roughly a goal or assist per 90 minutes as an 18/19 year old in the dutch league, scored in the champions league, advanced metrics are in the 98th/99th percentile across attack and defending, and has won the praise and interest of Arne Slot and Liverpool, potentially among others to come. I understand a healthy dose of skepticism when it comes to stuff like this, but why do we seem to be having such a hard time accepting that we have a real gem on our hands? If this lad gets Eddie ball beaten into his brow I feel like he could be something special... Hope management agrees. With that said if they decide to sell, then I trust their judgment.

Minteh scored in the CL mate
-
Do you think I'm making up the numbers lol
-
a goal contribution per 90 is domination, imo
-
I don't think its reasonable, lol. He'll be 20 years old next season, absolutely dominated his (admittedly inferior) league, and we have an almost laughably thin collection of reserves at RW. No brainer imo.

To be fair, many, myself included, thought calls for another year on loan were ridiculous
-
Wild.

Good with his feet but can he stop the ball from going into the net? Go buy some German kid 5 million pounds and call it a day... No need for PL tax here with a Championship keeper
-
I dont think we should assume that there will be accessible right wing upgrades actually available to us... All signs are pointing towards Olise getting poached by someone else. Unless there's some bona fide target in mind that we have a very good shot at, I think we should just let the lad play and let him develop with us. Is it a risk? Sure. Is there a chance he turns into a 100 million pound target? Yes. A goal contribution per 90 min (granted its the Dutch, but still) is serious. He's 99th percentile in many of the relevant categories to be a world class winger. I don't think we should be so quick to show the lad the door. Edit: Think, for a minute, if the roles were reversed, and we had just identified this lad as a transfer target and were getting him in for 40 million pound. We'd be over the moon and hoping we'd just tapped the next Neymar. (Only partly kidding there). That's what Liverpool and the like seem to be thinking right now...
-
This feels dangerously close to overpaying
-
About a goal contribution per 90 mins as a 19 year old... Nutty any way you try to slice it. Whether that translates one-to-one to PL physicality is a different story, but this lad is a baller
-
I think you're biting off a bit more than you can chew with this kind of statement. We have no idea how he's being talked about among clubs interested.
