Agreed there's something just totally bizarre about all of this its entirely discombobulating. 48 hours ago, we needed to make one sale to everton of our top prospect and we were in the clear. Now its Isak, Gordon et al, with bizarre swap deals being floated. Something strange is afoot

Very disappointed in the club's management... Hope they'll wise up, but just no excuse to be caught with their pants down this badly this late in the game
-
Agree with this, and then theres also: Where is he going to play in this team? Will he only ever come on when Gordon needs a blow? Or when Gordon can be slotted over to the right? Partly why it was such a head scratcher of a move. He's a talent obviously though.

I wasn't the one who brought up what our scouts think of the lad - seems entirely a non sequitur to the point you're right. The DCL point is just wrong.... Neither Dortmund nor Liverpool, (nor anyone else?), seems at all interested in him. The point I was making with Minteh is that elite clubs (plural) have showed interest, including the ones who were almost the champions of Europe, and a slew of other clubs as well at this point - Brighton and Lyon to name a couple. If you think that's one-for-one with DCL, cheers I guess.
-
Do you think Minteh is being sold off at the 11th hour because our scouts don't find him a prospect? Seems much more likely - maybe even self-evident - that this sale is nothing more than an emergency lever to rebalance the books before breach.
-
I respect your skepticism, a good dose of which is prudent, but I'm gonna side with Dortmund and Liverpool on this one
-
The interest from across Europe - Lyon's highest bid of all time, Slot's feeler interest from Liverpool, Champions League finalist interest in the lad - is all because the lad looks like the next Miggy Almiron I suppose
-
Begs the question - why weren't these deals in the pipeline sooner than 48 hours before breach?
-
Minteh just scored in the Champions League mate
-
This is either utter nonsense, or we're a bunch of morons
-
Not really sure this is apropos - all the top-heavy leagues you listed have revenues that pale in comparison to the prem... I think it goes almost without saying that the more inequitable the league comes (ie, the more it starts to look like La Liga), the more its revenues will take a hit.

I'm afraid this is looking more and more like club incompetence by the day... Whose plan was it to hinge PSR compliance on a teenager on loan to a dutch club?
-
Really not that crazy a theory
-
I would venture to guess Chelsea value Palmer above Isak
-
Sounds like a man who can't wait to get to London
-
Waiting until the 11th hour to meet your PSR obligations is on the club... That's not to say PSR is a fair construct. But we had the opportunity to turn a profit in January and get major wages off the books, with Trips happy to move to Bayern, and we turned it down. Is it fair to be asking a teen eager to carve out a career to go play in a farmer's league where he'll be lost in a sea of mediocrity? I don't think so personally.
-
Is that how we're categorizing Liverpool these days?
-
So Ligue 1 is a farmers league all year, but as soon as the kid doesn't want to play there, he's mad to want to play in the prem instead.... cmon lads
-
Minteh is under no obligation to modify his career goals for our short term accounting needs - if he stays as a result cannot say I'd be unhappy
-
I don't disagree - having the reserves of cash is one thing, but spending in a way that replaces the void that would be left is an entirely separate challenge
-
200m would be destiny changing for the club and its transfer business
-
Being reported 200m+ required to get us to listen
-
Based on what Chelsea payed for Enzo and Caicedo, I would tell them 170 million is a hard floor for us
-
Just wait till next year when we finish top 4 and AG has 25 goal contribs
