Matching the highest fee Brighton's ever paid, and for a 19 year old no less, I think really tells the whole story. It does not diminish your fandom to be critical of the club, and I cannot understand why so many have such a visceral reaction to even the suggestion that this was not the optimal way of meeting PSR constraints. Just no need to get so worked up about valid criticism. Right move in the here and now? Absolutely. Are fans allowed to be upset we've let a true talent go because we've made some questionable moves? Yes.

Actually the money he brought in has been expended well in advance of his leaving - this is why some posters are (rightfully) criticizing the strange Barnes acquisition when we had needs on the RW. This move was to cover a shortfall, not to spend now.

I have no doubt he is going to impress next season, and it will be painful to watch. But unfortunately the club pressed itself into a corner with this one and it seemed there was really no other way out
