It feels to me like he’s gone with a pragmatic approach that means less pressing, in order to manage squad output with Europe. But it’s then costing us all attacking threat, which is what’s made us successful in the past. A better approach would be to play some boring possession football in our usual 4-3-3 to take pressing energy off, but Howe doesn’t seem to go that way. It’s 3-4-3/3-5-2 has worked in the past in a couple of big games, so let’s play it more.

I’m his biggest defender, but Christ he needs to switch on. At this current rate, he’s not going World Cup. He needs to play well for that and he’s not right now. Playing like he’s injected some of Osula blood into him. Scatty and little control, which is nothing like him in the past. When he was always in control, creating and the annoying thing was his shit shooting.
-
Not going to blame him on us losing, as he saved us first half when we should’ve been 3+ down. We all know he has a brain fart in him, you just hope you are 2 up when he does it, or early in the game.
-
That does some heavy lifting on how the whole game was played How many 45s have we played well in this season? Think Liverpool game is only game we’ve played consistently well in all season. And it’s no surprise it’s the only game we’ve scored more than once in.
-
Taking him off for fucking Harvey Barnes may be a reason, rather than subbing a CM for a CM.
-
Disagree hugely on this. Started well against Villa bar his one on one miss, played really well against Liverpool. Should’ve had assists if we had a striker. Then since he’s been benched. Coming on in scrap situations, like today. Give him a run with Woltemade up top and people will be all “Why is he only starting games now?!”.
-
Been more than today with Joelinton for me. People who have a soft spot for him need to wake up. Burn is obviously done at LB and we all know Botman is the better LCB.
-
Trippier and Elanga main two. Starting Burn LB in 2025 is unforgivable, especially against Saka Want to see Miley start more over Joelinton moving forward too. Like what did Joelinton do today? Hacked down Saka after 30 seconds which should’ve been a yellow set the tone for his performance.
-
Yea, both looked a solid partnership and complimented each other. Some silly moments from both, but should be giving a consistent run of starts, like a few others.
-
We have ones in the squad already though. The starting XI today stunk and nothing in that game proved otherwise.
-
Joelinton is the obvious one and Burn is done at the end we’re competing with. Then Elanga should be starting over Murphy. Can’t give a huge money signing a run of 5 starts, what’s the fucking point of signing any more big money players? Just sign some raw players.
-
Him out for 6 months and we may as well pack up the league season. Accept it’s mid table at best and focus fully on the cups.
-
Howe is loyal to many in this squad, but when they’re finished as players, he can’t keep persisting with them. Today was a woeful home game. Had we lost 5-1 it would’ve been more fitting.
-
I’m sick of this season. I’m team Howe, but he’s fucked it so much so far with weird team selections, dog shit football and toothless attacks. We’ve lost everything what made us last few seasons, and it can just all be pinned on Isak saga.
-
It’s Pope. We all know by now he has a massive brain fart in him.
-
And Pope has fucked us. What’s the point making saves when he does that. We deserved nothing from this game.
-
And people will act shocked that we have lost again in 97th min, when we’ve had 4 touches in that added on time.
-
Barnes
-
Can we get fresh legs on in CM?
-
Swear Osula has conceded more fouls than passes. Dog shit striker.
-
That’s a clear pen man.
-
We’ll lose this now like Liverpool game. Years down the line, and we still have little idea how to play momentum.
-
And it’s not a good thing as it gives us no control. He’s a terrible player.
-
Joelinton with his dumb yellow.
-
Tino ACL to cap off a wonderful season.
