  1. I don't get why he went on the outside so much for England for today he was back to his check inside all afternoon long apart from the cross from a free kick. If a winger does the same thing every single time, I'm guessing the defenders might work it out...
  2. Last season Abu Kamara who was on loan at Pompey in 23/24 had to do a social media apology alongside the Hull manager as he congratulated his mate (playing for Pompey) for scoring his first Championship goal on instagram. Hull fans and management were up in arms basically saying he can't be happy for anyone who doesn't play for Hull. It was pathetic. People are allowed friends inside of football who play for other clubs. Same with Botman here. Optics might not be great but c'mon...
  3. In the Daily Mail Insider column (Liverpool edition): 'A story is circulating in well placed circles, not connected to either club but familiar with the inner workings of the transfer industry, that Isak was under the impression that a bid of £100m or more would see his release from Newcastle this summer. 'If that is the case, suddenly the picture becomes clearer.'
  4. Isak/Agent are briefing insiders that he was told a £100million bid would be accepted this summer. This is the story they are getting out there. If anyone truly believes that (including Isak himself) then boy there are a lot of dumb people around but it is clearly an attempt to say its not about a contract/money at his end.
  5. That Game 6 still pisses me off. Although Games 4 and 5 don't exactly sit well in the memory either. Make Schilling field the effing ball...
  6. This one just feels like it stings more than the others. A player who actually wanted to come last year but PM pulled the plug. Still wanted to come early in the off-season but we dilly-dallied and then by the time we actually get an offer accepted, City can sign him for dirt-cheap because of their matching rights and buy-back clause along with the extra salary power they can offer. Going to be interesting to see if he's happy being #2 to Ederson for a year but he'll probably pocket an extra £2-3million over the next season so financially worth it.
  7. I'm shocked that a reporter for the Manchester Evening News has said that a player wants to join a Manchester club. Shocked. Well not that shocked. Even the biggest negative nellies will admit that the player has seemingly wanted the Newcastle move for a year or more. No doubt he'd go to City if that was his only option but he has never only wanted City. Unlike say possibly Pedro, Ekitike and Mbeumo who clearly has eyes for one club only when linked...
  8. The Pompey News will literally write up any article with any remote link with Pompey. There are always articles about players who spent time on loan with us years ago and what their next move is. Basically the website gets well over 3/4 of their clicks for PFC related content so it pays the bills and keeps the lights on - no matter how tenuous it is.
  9. I bet you he doesn't think that - no matter what logic says otherwise...
  10. Do you think Callum Wilson's ego would sign on to be a high-character guy who plays in the Carabao Cup and a few minutes here and there? He is still talking about being in the '26 World Cup squad...
  11. Do people really believe Callum Wilson is going to be a Toon player in 25/26? Yes they are in discussions over a new deal but it is a token gesture. He'll go and get better money and opportunities elsewhere.
  12. He's in Spain training with England ahead of the Andorra match. Could still be McAtee as he could have trained this morning/afternoon and been given permission to leave camp for the evening. The fact a return flight has already been booked would hold credence to that but that is obviously very much speculation.
  13. Based on watching him play. There is a reason a top club will spend £50million+ on him this summer despite bang average stats. He has pace, power, would immediaitely become the best dribbler in the squad. Is direct. Plenty to work on including positioning and turning his skills into creating chances but it is tough when you play for a shocking team to show off such talents. He's not there yet but I don't think there is a more exciting teenager in English football at the moment. If he gets in the right setup, with the right coach, sky is the limit.
  14. Tyler Dibling has the potential to be World Class. I would expect Eddie would get that out of him sooner rather than later. He has it all and has that creativity that the First XI yearns for certainly against teams that sit in. Mbeumo is certainly a better player today and undoubtedly has far better statistics but Dibling could be really special. Either one would be an outstanding acquisition.
  15. Some of the comments in this thread blow my mind. We are talking about a teenager who was thrust into the first team at 17 last season and held his own. He's had a serious injury that curtailed his summer conditioning and he therefore had no pre-season. Despite missing out on that time, you can see he's had a growth spurt and looks to be filling out nicely. He has a good touch, very good eye for a pass and has shown composure when presented with chances in front of goal. He looks more of an 8 than a 6 but he's still finding his feet. I've spent this season watching Freddie Potts week in, week out and West Ham seem to think he's got a real chance to be a regular for them in a year or two. He's 21 and I'm telling you now, Lewis Miley is already twice the player he is. A loan to the Championship where very few teams play a front foot aggressive style like Newcastle might be good for him to get his legs as it were but it won't really help with his development. If he's going to play 20-25 games at Toon next year, he's far better hanging around and being part of the squad as the 4th or 5th choice midfielder. If a loan was the best option, loan him to a top European club outside of the big big boys. He'd probably be a starter week in, week out at a top Dutch or Portuguese club or even second tier Serie A, La Liga or Bundesliga. He'd learn far more there than playing for Leicester or whoever for a season. Kid has a real chance to be a EPL regular and play for his country. I think his floor is solid EPL player but his ceiling is top top drawer. Just because he's not the best player in the world today at 19 (and only just turned 19) doesn't mean he's missed the boat. He would probably be starting for Spurs or MU at the moment and that shows not only his potential but also where he is right now in his development and just how good Joelinton, Tonali and Bruno are in keeping him out of the first XI.
  16. He is just so neat and tidy on the ball. Never looks flustered. He's got every chance to be an England regular.
  17. He's a good player at Championship level and has looked good in the past few for Pompey but he's just nowhere near Toon's level for where they are or where they want to be.
  18. The Daily Fail article is essentially all based on the fact Cunha and Amorim spoke with one another after the game yesterday - like managers and players do all the time. What Journalism.
  19. Watched him on Saturday and he was class. Excellent distribution but made one incredible double save mid-way through the second half where he blocked the first before springing up and denying Matt Ritchie what looked a sure goal on the rebound. Burnley do set up extremely defensively and they are a bore to watch but the back four all played well. The lad they got from Man City (Egan Riley) could easily play in the top flight. Didn't put a foot wrong. Trafford though looked like he has all the attributes to be a top top class keeper for a decade or more.
  20. Ritchie was absolute class in the second half. Balled out. His first was a brilliant run across the backline that the defenders missed, great first touch and slotted home. His second was a cross-come-shot that smashed in off the post but even apart from those goals, he was freaking everywhere and caused 'boro all kinds of trouble. He might not be the most gifted player in the world but he does care and gives 100% and on those days when he's on, that equates to a pretty darn good player.
  21. Local newspaper reports down here saying a loan deal will be finalised sooner rather than later.
  22. You guys should feel for me. I watch Jacob with one team and Josh with the other. They are the same player, how one is starting in the top flight and the other in the Championship is a complete mystery. Both frustrating as all heck and try to do things they aren't really capable of. I'm not sure either would be automatic starters for upper tier Championship sides and Toon are banking on him to help lead them to Europe. Madness.
  23. As a Pompey mush with a soft spot for Eddie Howe and Newcastle (hence why I'm here) this is probably a good spot for my first post. Many moons ago, Pompey played reserve matches at Aldershot where I was living, so I saw Ritchie coming through the ranks and he was the only player that showed any inkling of making it. He's had a really solid career up with you guys and has long said he wanted to complete his career back at Fratton Park. Now we have two Pompey boys in the squad with him joining Marlon Pack. I'm happy to have him back as think that bit of experience along with Pack will be important to Championship survival. We'll take good care of him as he is one of our own.
