  1. Yeah - and no CL football? Don’t think so.
  2. I said ‘should’ not ‘would’. I think public amenities should be paid for with tax payer’s money. That’s one reason we pay taxes.
  3. They should for the park if it’s public.
  4. I’ll laugh my t*ts off if he signs for ManU and they don’t get Europe again.
  5. They'll sell the stadium they haven’t built yet to themselves.
  6. Noone thinks the window has been good. What surprises me is the wrath some of our supporters are aiming at our club. You could have the best management and scouting team in the world but if you can’t offer the same transfer fees and wages as other clubs then you have no chance. Isn’t that obvious? I’m convinced there’s a ‘smoke filled room’ agenda to hamper our window. Masters and co introduced the ‘stop Newcastle’ rules and there were whispers about other PL clubs not doing business with us when we were taken over. It’s not a big leap to have suspicions.
  7. One of our current players could learn a bit from Hayden onto how to handle himself with dignity on contract issues. Good luck Isaac!
  8. Money and PSR? I’m wondering if we’re bidding for Sesko to try to keep a hold of Isak too. Maybe one of Isak’s gripes is he’s alone up front all season?
  9. That made me laugh, especially when you realize that if you don’t remember anything you can’t learn.
  10. 27 is not old for a keeper - coming up to prime age, in fact. He’d be back up for Pope who is probably the best shot stopping GK in the PL (admittedly poor with his feet, though), still a very good keeper.
  11. Newcastle fan ‘to do’ list: 1. Criticize club for trying to sign PL ready players and showing ambition in the transfer market. 2. Claim the club got the strategy wrong and should have gone for more realistic prospects. 3. When realistic prospects are targeted, throw toys out of pram because they’re not good enough. 4. All the while try to disregard PSR.
  12. Eddie keeps proving people wrong. Doesn’t seem to stop them coming back for more. Time and time again.
  13. He’ll be the worst keeper at Newcastle since Matz Sels…….. oh, hang on. (Footnote: Also, Eddie doesn’t improve players)
  14. If you’re suggesting we bust the bank to offer huge wages to one player then that opens a dangerous precedent. All our best players will expect large wage hikes and squad harmony will be shot. PSR stops us from doing that whereas the cartel clubs can.
  15. Not necessarily. You could have the best scouts/negotiators in the world but if you can’t offer as much money to the players in wages then you can’t expect much success. With hindsight, we’ve been chasing the wrong players - ones that are out of reach for our club just now.
  16. It seems we target a group of players then if they don’t sign then it’s back to square one. I’d love to know how far Mitchell got in talking to prospective signings’ agents and developing an in depth transfer plan. Not far by the looks of it. If, as I suspect, there is an underlying reluctance for other PL teams to do business with us, we really need to look abroad.
  17. I think the club wanted to have a real go at the CL and this is reflected in the players we were going for (and why we didn’t go for ‘diamonds in the rough’, which take time to polish). But PSR has woven its ‘magic’ and done exactly what it was designed to do. The result is that we will probably need to lower our expectations this season and sign some of these lower quality players with potential to have the necessary numbers to get through the season.
  18. His craic at the minute is about selling Isak (if he’s unhappy) and investing the cash to improve the squad. Not sure what’s wrong with that as a plan.
  19. True. We’ve had A LOT worse - windows with zero interest in signing anyone.
