Couple of shorts of Malcolm Macdonald goals - John Tudor next. Need to click full screen button to get correct size.

1975/76 was the last time I think - both sides losing in QF - can’t be bothered to check all of them!

Watkins should not be playing. He should have been sent off against Brighton for his elbow into the face of Ven Hecke right in front of the referee. No VAR intervention either. And Martinez pressed his forehead against the same player and could have gone too.

The other thing that never seems to get taken into account is the amount of travelling we have to do compared to other clubs which must eat into the training/preparation time as well as being tiring.

I find it both incredible and disheartening that - At this point - people think that Eddie Howe should either be sacked now, or if things don’t improve. There are very few seasons since the late 1950s where we have had better results than this season. And although the football has been frustrating at times it is still better than it has been for the majority of seasons in the last 70 years! Where’s the perspective and since when have we developed such a sense of entitlement? I have supported since 1970 and the last few seasons have been on a par with the Keegan years and the later Robson years. the last thing we need is a change of manager and I think people are being delusional if they think we are going to get a better manager than Howe. PSR is preventing us competing with the best and that is unlikely to change so that is not going to have an attraction to the top managers. Eddie Howe is the last person who we should be look at getting rid of and if we do I believe it will be a huge mistake.

Been trying to remember what game that was for years! I always stood in the Corner and I seem to remember the “fight” was mainly between the Gallowgate and the Corner. Shame that mobile phones were not around at the time, would have made for some great photos! looking at the reports the Leicester goalkeeper was also bombarded when the players came out and a tannoy announcement was necessary to stop it.

(Probably) The coolest goalkeeping display you are ever likely to see: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DPSjhWFicuO/?igsh=MWFmN2RndXVqODZwYw==

The crowd at the ground, as they should be, are very supportive of him. Certainly, in general, the crowd at SJP is a lot more forgiving than it used to be. Some players used to get terrible stick, at one time Tommy Gibb asked to be excused from playing in home games! i don’t use twitter, but can imagine it is the worst, but there has been plenty of unwarranted negativity on here too. Give the lad a chance, he is way ahead of schedule and is going to be a great player! Also I think that there are plenty of supporters of other clubs “infiltrating” posts/forums etc to criticise players, probably hoping it will unsettle them.

All for it. Nobody would want to go back to eighties Basset-ball but the modern game has gone too far the other way. Let’s have a bit of disruptive chaos re-introduced. And while we’re at it, let’s get Steve Watson back to teach his somersault throw!

Older members may remember right-back Malcolm Brown who signed from Huddersfield in the summer of 1983. He hadn’t missed a game for five years. A couple of days into pre-season training he fell awkwardly whilst performing a routine loosening up exercise and ruptured an achilles tendon. He was out virtually the whole season.

Based on a number of different articles/videos I have seen, heading is regarded as one of his comparative weaknesses, something for Eddie to work on.

Sorry but Rob McDonald (circa 1988/89) was far worse than the others mentioned. here he is arriving at Central Station
-
According to Toon1892 it is Anthony (Tony) Gill who I do not remember at all
-
-
When he signed one famous Newcastle No 9 said that from his perspective he did not care what shirt he wore as "they don't mean much these days".
-
Lost its sparkle with the great Rob McDonald

I know - typing too quick for my brain, which is easy done at my age!

Beginning to wish I hadn’t made this prediction this morning….

According to nufc.com we have submitted a team sheet to ask for additional time to complete the paperwork.
-
It is madness that we have left it so late to replace Wilson (effectively) - that is not made up
-
At this rate we will probably sign someone then either miss the deadline or make a mistake with the paperwork. Madness.
