Belgravia step up Toon bid

Recommended Posts

The Belgravia Group, chaired by fund manager Duncan Hickman, has about $2 billion of assets, mainly in its Belgravia Asset Management division. It invests in telecommunications, media, construction and hospitality, aviation, and has helped Everton, Arsenal and Mastercard develop products. It confirmed that it is "examining the potential opportunity of acquiring Newcastle United, which may or may not lead to an offer for the company being made by Belgravia."

Geoff Lord is the current chairman of the Australian football (soccer) club the Melbourne Victory in the newly formed A-League. A well know corporate identity in Melbourne and former chairman of Hawthorn AFL club, he founded the Belgravia Group in 1990. It now employs over 3000 people in a wide variety of operations, and is one of the largest operators of golf courses and fitness centres in Australia. Amongst the companies owned by Lord's Belgravia Group is Belgravia Soccer Management, which in turn owns a 50% stake in Melbourne Victory.

The man/company clearly have no clue when it comes to running a football club eh?

I could sear I posted the same about him in the last thread. Oh well.

Geoff Lord has nothing to do with the group who are looking at the club, it's a different Belgravia.

TV and broadcasting is 32% of turnover.  Match tickets account for 40%.  Merchandising accounts for 9%.  Lose a chunk of that 40%, especially in season ticket sales, and we'd be making losses.  Which isn't what Belgravia are looking to take us over to do.

That's interesting info. Where did you get it?

And what about the rest? TV+ broadcasting, tickets and merchandising make 81% combined.

What about the remaining 19%?

Good for NUFC PLC. I was afraid 19% totally disappeared due to Mr Shepherd's delicate touch.  bluewink.gif

We need change and if Belgravia get all except Shephers shares they can vote to remove him as chairman, I believe Freddy would then walk as he wants to be the boss not just someone sitting in background
