Frank Gilmour

If Mark Jensen walked up to me i'd recognise him. Fair chance he's recognise me too. We'd probably have a chat as we have in the past.

If Biffa from nufc.com walked up to me to me i'd recognise him. Fair chance he's recognise me too. We'd probably have a chat as we have in the past.

If Frank Gilmour walked up to me to me i'd PROBABLY recognise him. Doubt he'd recognise me given that i can't honestly say i've seen him at many games.

The 2 names at the top deliberately go out of their way to say that their views do not represent the masses. INUSA seems to be a front for an individual and if he's already in the media phonebook then why not just use his name and not immediately follow it by an organisation that is frankly not know to exist by many.

Apologies for the long post, just found this interesting as I'd been wondering about this guy myself.

Just did a little searching and found quite a lot of rent a quote mentions of our Frank. I tried to look for a web address for the INUSA but nothing doing or any email address to contact but nothing. They aren't registered on any supporter sites I can see. I looked at other names mentioned in conjunction with the INUSA, but only Kevin Miles and John Regan were mentioned. They seemed quite active in the 90's, as NE5 said regarding the SOS campaign, but seem defunct this decade, bar the constant quotes from Frank .

The Independent Manchester united Supporters' Association was launched in April 1995 at an impromptu meeting in the Gorse Hill Hotel....

Thousands of leaflets were distributed at the last two home games of the season advertising IMUSA's existence and the next meeting, at Lancashire Cricket Club on 11th May, took place in the week before the final game of the season at West Ham. The meeting was packed out with hundreds of Reds who listened to Kevin Miles from the Independent Newcastle United Supporters Association describe how they had set up their organisation and the experiences they had had in dealings with NUFC.

kevin miles went on to be an England fans representative and speaks a lot of sense when ive heard him on the telly.

Wish he'd been able to mediate between Keegan and the board and we may have avoided this mess.

Would be a great fans representative to te club.

The INUSA doesn't exist anymore, thats why you can't find any address or much info on it.

Yes I agree that they should make clear it doesn't exist anymore, but I don't really think I've ever heard Frank Gilmour say he's speaking for anyone but himself - apart from that general comment about Barton in that link.

I heard Kevin Miles being interviewed once with Steve Wraith about something - can't remember what it was - and Kevin Miles starte to say something claiming he was speaking for all of the fans, and Steve Wraith cut him off - on live TV - and said that he had his opinion and it was his own opinion and he wants to make it clear that he is speaking for nobody but himself. Which I thought was very good.

These people are just telephoned by the press for their opinions, thats all there is to it. Someone on here might be, although they have been involved in discussions with Mort last year. Isn't that correct ?

Oh look, guess who's in the tabloids again being unfortunately quoted as representing a defunct organisation:

Newcastle United fans give owner Mike Ashley red card

By Brian McNally 13/09/2008

A NEWCASTLE fans’ leader has told the club’s beleaguered owner Mike Ashley: The sooner you go, the better!

Frank Gilmour, chairman of the Independent Newcastle United Supporters’ Association, has warned Ashley he would never be forgiven on Tyneside for driving Kevin Keegan out of the club – not even if he persuaded Tyneside’s Messiah to return.

And Gilmour insists that the only viable option left for the Sports Direct magnate is to sell the club and get out of Toon.

Gilmour said: "Mike Ashley’s position at Newcastle United is untenable. The only place he can go now is through the exit door.

"He is despised by his customers. Even if he managed to bring back Kevin Keegan [below], the damage to Ashley has well and truly been done. The situation is irretrievable as far as he is concerned.

"I don’t think making approaches to Keegan will change the mood of the fans. As far as Ashley is concerned the damage is well and truly done. No amount of window dressing or publicity stunts will alter the fact he has lost the trust of the fans.

"Ashley [below left] has blown it and the only realistic option he has is to sell up and get out. Newcastle fans will be glad to see the back of him.

"I don’t think he understands the contempt his customers now have for him. As far as I am concerned, the sooner he goes the better."

Gilmour is also convinced that the Toon Army’s economic boycott of the football club and Ashley’s Sports Direct retailing business will force billionaire Ashley to sell sooner rather than later.

Gilmour added: "I walked past the club shop today and it was empty. And it was the same when I looked in Sports Direct – there were no customers.

"The fans know the best way to hurt Ashley is to hit him in the pocket. As long as he is running the club I’ll never buy any of the products he is selling and the way the mood is in Newcastle I think that will be multiplied 50,000 times.

"Ashley may think he can tough it out, but he is in for a big shock.

"The mood of the Newcastle fans is one of absolute determination and he can’t recover from this mess – which is entirely of his own making. I will be happy to see him go because he has made the club a laughing stock with the way he has handled the situation. I don’t think he could have handled it any worse."

Gilmour believes Ashley’s belated bid to broker a peace deal with Keegan on Friday was too little too late.

He added: "Keegan wanted him to come back and personally sort out things when the crisis began. But he was on a jaunt in America and decided to stay there and leave things to managing director Derek Llambias.

"Do you think he would have remained in America if Sports Direct had problems?

"He has dropped an almighty clanger with the way he has dealt with this. I am disappointed in him and his running of the club."

I wonder why poor old Frank puts up with it, I really do.

Personally, I pretty much agree with every word he says.

I agree with most of it, except the fact about 'there's no coming back from this'. Hire a good, bright manager and a couple of wins will change the mood entirely.

There's always going to be an underlying hatred for Ashley though, just ready to bubble up as soon as we hit a rocky patch. I don't see how we can operate like this long term. Best if he just sells up and fucks off imo.

There's no way back for Wise.

Ultimately, that also leads back to Ashley, who could ride out a storm with a winning run but it will all come back and bite him unless he changes direction.
