Incognito
Whatever Ashley's failings, I don't think it's wrong to suggest that he pretty much saved this club from folding, or at very least "Doing a Leeds". For that alone, he deserves our gratitude. Personally I like many of his ideas, having a proper scouting network, getting the best young talent rather than players who are pushing towards 30 etc. I still think that if he was willing to make a couple of small ammendments to things (Ie the reporting structure), then he could be good for the club and help get us back to where we want to be. Do you not think we are going in the same direction of Leeds now?Especially as we are ATM a club with no leader either at the top or as manager. Bad Mongo
Keegan "selling" Faye is another rumour - who was responsible for transfers in the wonderful system? How would we know Wise is working? It doesn't really matter whose decision it was, the problem is when there are three people responsible for transfers and no single coherent vision for the team. That kind of thing doesn't even work for Real Madrid, and there's no chance it will ever work here.
TRon
The way I see it is Keegan did everything in his power to improve the team for the better, Where Ashley and Co ignored vital area's which we needed strength which ultimately wasn't working towards the best for the team. If new owners are not found and we're stuck with this prick then say bye bye to the prem because our squad is riddled with sicknote twats, the majority are quite happy to pick up there pay and put in god awful performances for it, when we the fans needed something positive to happen with recent events. I've lost all interest in us at the minute as I just can't see anybody fighting for the cause, and how you supposed to get behind that? The "players are profesionals" statement after Keegan left is a bit tongue in cheek from what i've witnessed. 30 years supporting us and this is the lowest I have felt in that time, say's it all. By insisting we kept Smith & turned down £12m for Milner? And giving Faye to Stoke City while putting Taylor on a long expensive contract ?? There is a lot of support for the changes the Ashley regime were trying to make and Dennis Wise is a convenient villain. As an ex player said this week "the difference between Dennis Wise and Kevin Keegan is when Wise has a problem he rolls his sleeves up and works at it whereas Keegan throws the toys out of the pram" Keegan "selling" Faye is another rumour - who was responsible for transfers in the wonderful system? How would we know Wise is working? Fine just believe whatever fits your theory then. NUFC.com reported that after Faye was subbed away to Everton last season he had a dispute with Keegan, he didn't start many games after that, and he was sold with the general view that Keegan didn't want him any more. Rozenhal and Barry Venison were sold after falling out with KK as well, but then might be just rumour as well so believe what you like.

Oh wait have you fuck Keegan has been played as a mug by these tossers over the whole Faye and Milner sales! I'm sure he himself as did we all expect the board to bring in better quality players as that's the reason why he sanctioned the deals. But we only brought in a couple that are at best average and tried to sell the likes of Owen. Now if you believe Keegan would ever leave the side so exposed as these cocks would have done then you're more stupid than I thought.
NE5
The way I see it is Keegan did everything in his power to improve the team for the better, Where Ashley and Co ignored vital area's which we needed strength which ultimately wasn't working towards the best for the team. Yet the majority of the fans thought we needed an attacking midfielder and a striker which we signed, nobody gave a toss about a left back. this has been done before. They signed an attacking midfielder for free, and offloaded another to buy a striker the manager didn't want. Sell to buy. By the way, pretty much all summer people have been harping on about Warnock, including yourself unless I'm mistaken. No wonder the manager told them where to stick their job. Are you going to hoy your toys out of the pram because someone shows you that you are wrong ? Thats what you get with having an unsackable DOF. I'm happy to admit I wanted a left back, I wanted a right back too because unless Geremi plays there we've only got one player covering each position. Yet plenty of people (including yourself) were adamant that we needed an attacking midfielder and a striker and if the club didn't get these players in then they had failed, is that correct? You're lucky I answered this after you dodged my question the other day, if I was a bit more petty I'd go crying to Dave and get him to demand that you answer like you do with Mick, now that would be toys out of the pram time. you said "nobody gave a toss about a left back". Its right there, in the quotes in this very post. Like yourself, mick has been found to be fantastically lacking in judgement, and completely wrong in his assertions that we would be better off without the board who has gave us [and him if you believe he supported the club back in his "good old days"] the most progressive and highest positioned club in 50 years. In your case, its also because your poxy DOF system has been found out just like I told you, that any manager worth their salt wouldn't stand for other people telling them who to buy and sell, and the simple reason your slating Keegan for "throwing his toys out of his pram" is because you won't admit that this is exactly what happened. Oh aye, and coming from you, it is a bit rich. Its the first time you've been lucky enough that I replied to you by the way. Also, like mick, I hope you enjoyed our years competing with the other top clubs, because under this regime, its now over. You might reply, or you might not, like mick predictably didn't in the other thread. Its really up to you.

Well spitting the dummy and walking certainly left the side (and club he "loves") exposed. Most evidence points to falling out with Keegan being the reason Faye left and if you can't see that then your more ignorant than I thought.

Of course his opinion will have no credibility around here because he's not a Newcastle legend, just someone who knows Dennis Wise.

I can't believe you seriously think that Keegan would have undermined the strength of this squad of players if it had been up to him. He was quite right to tell them to piss off. Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger would do exactly the same, to name 2, and they have both said so. Brian Clough also did the same when he left Derby back in the 1970's, to show you its nothing new. We might be in a bit of a crisis at the moment, I won't deny that. But we're still only a handful of games into the new season and there's loads of time to turn things round. If Ashley hadn't turned up and bought us out, we'd be in a lot worse of a state now. Rather than worrying about only having 4 points and who our next manager or owner will be, we'd be wondering how on earth we could get back from -15 and still stay up with a squad comprised entirely of kids.
